Hunter Derwyn is located at the tower next to the bandit camps usually referred to as the bandit tower. He is offering a reward for the ears of any bandits you kill. When you bring him an ear, he gives you a document to take to Sir Dorian in the tower outside Cotswald ( loc=12000, 23200)which results in a minor reward, a medal (worth about 55 cp).

(Bandit Ear's also drop off Bandit Highwaymen in Constantine's Sound.)

I got a Medallion of Merit for each Bandit Ear I turned in and got 55cp when I sold them. Good money for lower levels, but hardly worth the time.
BAD QUEST

this is a pretty stupid quest i think because the money is ok. the bad part about this quest is the xp. if u want better money and xp just go to the mine
Everlasting Quest?

Do the ear drops ever stop? This was a pretty good quest when I was below level 10, but it gets annoying after a while. I can make better money by just dropping the ears and spending the time it would take to go see Hunter Derwyn and Sir Dorian just hunting for more valuable loot...

#Anonymous, Posted: Nov 09 2001 at 9:26 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) 4 days. I still can't respond to a post, because it sends me to the main screen instead. Oh well. In response to Reward, I have looked very hard, but cannot find dragon ants where are they?

Better loot killing a dragon ant of about the same level. Items dropped by them are worth 50 to 150 CP and you don't have to see a Hunter, a Guard, and a Merchant to get your coin.
exp?
# Oct 29 2001 at 11:46 PM Rating: Default
how much exp does it give out?...
RE: exp?
# Nov 01 2001 at 2:04 AM Rating: Decent
No more exp than for the bandit killing.

Actually i've never got xp for turning in the ears, just xp for killing the bandit. all i got was the pendant of achievement (or whatever). sold it. got 50cp. that's it.

From Prydwen Keep (bind there it's closer) head north down the road when you read the direction marker turn to the east and you will see the tower

Bandits are all over the lace, and the drops are frequent.

Isn't Sir Dorian of the guard tower outside Cotswold a start npc too? He's the one that first mentioned the 'quest' to me.

The exact reward for this is the "Medallion of Merit" it is worth 55cp and provides no enchantments or armor value.

I was surprised that was all it was worth--but when you are poor turning 2 of these in makes a silver so you cannot really complain

Kill small bears if you're poor. Their skins are worth 90cp, not bad money if you have the strength the carry them! Seems like a better pay off for much easier work then these bandits.

The skins of scrawny red lions are worth even more, at 130cp

True but the bandits also drop lock picks and gems. you can get anywhere from 100cp to 200cp depending on the drop of items.

The Pristine Lion Skins are worth 300cp, they are a bit rare tho, but they are also for a Lion Pelt Cloak, 100% Qua +3Dex cloak, looks leathery but is cloth and can be died.

I have learned to save some of the different items I've picked up ever since I sold the "Keg of Apple Brandy" and found out it was a quest right after. Doh!
So, I have a Lion pelt.
Where/Whom do I seek to have it made into a cloak?

I agree with the above comments about annoyance of having to go to the Tower to see Hunter Derwood [sic], then Sir Dorian. But, at level 6-8 the bandits are a pretty easy kill, they drop more stuff than the ants, (including some leather armor occasionally), the area [south of tower] is nice and open, so you can easily see anything else coming your way, AND the tower(with guards) is right at the top of the hill if you have to run for it.

Note: Draw a line straight east from Camelot/Cotswold Village and North from the bridge leading to Salisbury Plains. Where they intersect is the tower. There is also a bind point at that bridge, but I agree with the above, use the one at Prydwen Keep, there is a healer there.
CAUTION!: Watch out for the Bandit Leader! He cons purple to level 8 tho his 3 henchmen/women are much lower. Solo him and you will discover why there are so many graves around there.

Anyway, any info on the Lion Pelt would be helpful. Now, if I can just find out what to keep and what to sell, BEFORE I sell it. *sigh*
