DISCLAIMER: Your Steps and Tasks may be different

***You need to do this quest three times. This is NOT a task, shows up in your journal, and is repeatable. Then the following quest is Silent Death. The Silent Death quest results in a great reward for your class. I was given the lynx variant twice, then the toad one.

Quest is one of several types, but in all of them Bork asks you to hunt
down a dangerous monster in the area. He has you hunt and kill one of a
number of various things, included grass vipers, ribbon toads, and savage
lynxes. Every time you do the quest you get a variable amount of silver
(around 10-50) and a small amount of experience, if you are low enough.

One variant:

Bork says, "Yes? Are you [looking for something]?"

Bork says, "Hmmm, I may have some work for you. Would you be [interested] in doing a little hunting for me?"

You have been given the Hunting Party quest.

Bork says, "Well let's see here. I think I may have something that you can do for me. Let me check my [scrolls]."

Bork nods and opens his bag of scrolls.
Bork searches quickly through his scrolls, studying them each for a few seconds before he nods and smiles.

Bork says, "Ok here is a tough one. A savage lynx stole a baby from her crib yesterday. Hunt one of these foul creatures down and slay it, then return.

Savage lynx are directly West of the Healer hut, go up and over the hill, to a clearing that is surrounded by trees, you should find plenty of them there.

[Step #1]
Hunt a savage lynx and slay it.

[Step #2]
Return to Bork

Another variant:

Bork says, "Hello again. Are you [interested] in more work already?"

You have been given the Hunting Party quest.

Bork says, "Well let's see here. I think I may have something that you can do for me. Let me check my [scrolls]."

Bork says, "The ribbon toads have been stealing food off the tables of villagers with their long tongues. Slay one of these beasts and return to me."

[Step #1] Hunt a ribbon toad and slay it.
(seen in and around loc=65244, 48957 West Svealand)

[Step #2] Return to Bork

Ending:

Bork says, "Great job! Here are a few coins as a reward. Return a bit later and I may have more work for you. I have to update my scrolls now."

You are awarded 3 silver and some copper!
You have finished the Hunting Party quest.

The max level for this quest is 22... which means if you are over 22 trying to do the Silent Death Quest and you are tring to do this one as a prerequesit, you are screwed.

Savage Lynx
# Oct 17 2002 at 1:04 PM Rating: Default
First creature I was assigned to hunt was the Savage Lynx--nearly all that I saw conned red to my level 14 Thane! I saw only 1 orange but it had other mobs near it and I couldn't get close enough to draw it out. So I attacked a red and it came down to the last strike, me or him--and I whiffed! OUCH! Died and the lynx had only a few hit points left...darnit! Tried again and didn't fare as well, think I wait till 15th level and try again. :-) But the mobs Bork assigns are tough, if you're soloing and not 15th/16th level, then good luck! Not worth much for this quest but as pointed out, it sets you up for the Silent Death quest which is quite good (from what I see here online).

Loc of critters
# Sep 13 2002 at 12:28 AM Rating: Default
All of the critters listed on the above list (Except for the savage lynx) can be found just s/se of huginfel, or n/nw of Dvalin. The savage lynx can be found around the loc of 40k 40k. Watch for the rest of the critters around that area tho. Almost all are aggro and range from 12-16.

guys its supposed to be a stupid quest. Your not meant to have alot of fun doing it. Your not supposed to get the reward RIGHT NOW.

Later on after doing it 3 times, you get Silent Death, which means money, AND a KICK *** WEAPON! Guys, I am a Kobold Hunter, I can easily handle these things, its not hard, its easy. Just go into Zerker Rage or some thing.
no exp

too high for level if soloing

The lowest I have seen savage lynx at 14 is orange, so if you are soloing, forget it until 15th or higher, they are just too tough.

I did this quest this morning and he had me hunting grass cats. the only prob that u will have with this quest is that the grass cats are usually in a group of other aggros so it is hard unless u can pull it out.

Not a bad quest
# Feb 01 2002 at 11:52 AM Rating: Decent
Yeah, it's boring and hunting the lynxes at the level you get it is asking for trouble, but apparently you need to complete it before Bork will give you the Njessi quest, which leads to some sweet weapons for melee classes, so It's worth doing.

This quest is a waste of time
# Dec 13 2001 at 7:11 AM Rating: Default
This is a useless quest. You can get it multiple times, like a task, but the risk/payoff ratio is so high (orange lynx/3silver and no xps) that it is a waste of time. I can go kill 3-4 skogsfru in the time it took to find and kill that lynx and get 10-20 silver for it, plus a good amount of xps. I would advise people to find a different quest.
It really is a quest
# Dec 08 2001 at 9:25 PM Rating: Default
Bork, being a guard, gives kill tasks at certain levels and the quest, Hunting Party, anytime in the right level range (looks like about 11-15 from the posts I'm reading here; I'm not sure). If you're in that level range and you right-click him he gives you a dialogue, you get the "You receive the XXXX quest!" orange message, and you have started the QUEST. If you're of the right level and request a task (/say task or /say help) he gives a kill task just like every other named guard. Now please stop bickering as to which it is, because you can get both from him.

It is a quest
# Dec 06 2001 at 8:06 AM Rating: Default
It is a quest, despite what some say. It appears in your journal and it is activated by right-clicking on the NPC.

Lynx are found to the west on the other side of the plataeu. This quest does not work as I completed twice last night (and received it three times). Reward was 3-5 silver for each.
