DISCLAIMER: Your Steps and Tasks may be different

Ula mentions that the guards and sentinels are hunting down a certain
Stalker. She asks if you would be willing to assist in a mildly nefarious deed. Upon accepting, she instructs you to speak with a Lurikeen tracker, and attempt to trick him into giving you a note intended for someone else. She then tells you that, once you have the letter, you should deliver it to someone named Achaius, located either
in Tir na mbeo or Ardee.

The tracker is due West, directly across the road; he is wearing red armor, and is named simply "Tracker". Upon speaking with him, he tells you that you look like a Stalker; he asks if you are [here to aid] or if you are [a Stalker]. Choose [here to aid]; choosing [a Stalker] will fail the quest and requires starting over. He gives you a letter to deliver to a guard in green armor, located at the guard post near Tir na mbeo; DO NOT do this, as the quest will fail.

The quest info tells you to deliver it to someone in Howth or Ardagh. Achaius is, in fact, a wandering weapons merchant; he travels between Mag Mell (you'd think the tracker would notice... hard to find good help...) and Ardee. He never reaches Mag Mell, but stops short and heads back North. Deliver it to him for your reward.

Helpful hints:
You trick the tracker into giving you the letter, and then you give it to someone else.

If you got the quest in the south, you give it to Twm, who runs off because he is being hunted. He's the LARGE guy outside the round building with the two lovers in ARDAUGH.

If you got the quest in the north, you give it Achius, who can be found hiding (ok, standing, but he's a lurikeen) out on the outskirts of TNBeo near the horse seller. Achius is actually in one of the corners of the Tavern in Ardee, outside. As soon as I gave him the letter, he started sprinting towards Mag Mell.

I have yet to complete this quest even when I found Achaius in Tir Na mBeo. He would not accept the letter. I have even tried to get the quest to fail with no luck. <shrug> May be some day.
Finding Achaius to Complete the Mild Deception Quest
# Nov 03 2001 at 11:21 AM Rating: Good
I just completed this quest, and to complete it successfully, do not follow what the Quest Journal tells you. You will need to find Achaius, and he is located in Tir na mBeo. I went to one of the Guardians, in Tir na mBeo, and did a "/where Achaius" (with out the quotes), and they pointed me to where Achaius was located in Tir na mBeo. I went up to him and gave him the letter. He told me the following:

"Oh. This doesn't look good. It has Blaieseach's symbol."

"If ever you seek the Moonstone, beware Blaieseach, and fear Caithor!"

He then took off North. I proceeded to follow him ( /follow ) to see where he goes. He made a straight line North between Mag Mell and Tir na Nog from Tir na mBeo. When he reached Ardee he then turned around and started heading south to Mag Mell, where he walks right through it. After that he took a zig zag path back to Tir na mBeo.

Some points to note:
1) He does not leave Tir na mBeo until he is given the note.

2) He tells you the following:
a) "Oh. This doesn't look good. It has Blaieseach's symbol."

b) "If ever you seek the Moonstone, beware Blaieseach, and fear Caithor!"

3) He proceeds to Ardee in a straight line North, so he does not follow the road period.

4) If you are unable to find Achaius I would head to Tir na mBeo, and wait there for 1 hour. That is roughly how long the journey took to Ardee and back to Tir na mBeo. Achaius walks the entire way; he does not run like we do, and that is why it takes so long.

5) At lvl three I received enough exp to fill 2 bubbles. I did not receive any money or items.

6) He is a Lurikeen Weapon Merchant wearing a Blue Cloak (No Hood).

I hope this helps everyone out for I tried to include as much on finding Achaius as I could.

to purposely fail and clear from journal
# Nov 02 2001 at 4:15 PM Rating: Default
so many people asking how to remove the quest from their journal if they cant finish it, i didnt read every message here so if this was answered already, sorry. go to the guard tower just north of howth, standing next to it is a female firbolg guardian with a green cloak and some type of metallic armor. hand her the letter, quest failed, it's out of your journal. voila!
In Tir na mbeo

I agree with the top posters on this. I wandered for a couple hours Friday night and a little Sat morning on this. I have never seen this guy wander anywhere and I found him standing by the stable in Tir na mbeo as a celt Ranger. My advise would be look there first and if he is not there, ask others of your race/type in your area about the quest. my .02
In Tir na mBo for me
# Oct 27 2001 at 12:07 PM Rating: Default

This quest took me about 2 hours of running about cos I couldnt find this Achaius dude. The Stalker trainer said he was called Twm and in Howth, but thats rubbish.

In the end I found him standing near the stable guy in Tir na mBo...under the big mushroom looking thing. However, after I gave him the note he walked off. Maybe he waits around untill he gets the note and then walks to the next town.

Just finished this quest and Achaius was actually in Ardee near the stable guy. I would suspect he does travel quite a bit and is difficult to pinpoint at any given time.

"he travels between Mag Mell (you'd think the tracker would notice... hard to find good help...) and Ardee. He never reaches Mag Mell, but stops short and heads back North."

This is wrong, I did this quest tonight and he was in Tir na mBo near the stable guy.

I still have yet to complete this quest... I got it from Ula, in Mag Mell. I found the tracker easily, but I couldn't remember the name of the letter's recipient for the life of me...

And my journal is NO help. It reads, "The recipient is either in Ardagh or Howth."

Does the recipient change with each quest? Now I have two names, so I may be able to finish this (finally). Of course, I'm level 6 now, so I'll be missing the track and seek... damn. Has anyone had to give the letter to anyone other than Achaius or Twm?

On an unrelated note, how the hell are you supposed to pronounce "Twm"? ;)

So far, the only two I have heard of are Twm and Achaius. Ignore the journal; it's completely whacked. The trainer isn't much better, actually.

No idea how to pronounce that. Gaelic is a future skill, not yet developed.

Yeah, the journal unfortuantely refers to the rightful recipient of the letter, not the one you're to deliver it to; hence the mild deception.

BTW... Twm, I believe is pronouced Toom. The Gaelic "W" is not only a consonant but also a vowel that sounds like a "U", compare to a double "U". :) For example, the mythcial Wild Hunt, Cwn Anwnn, is pronouce **** Anoon - Hounds (****) <from> Hell (Anwnn, from the god Arawn). I believe only in the Welsch Gaelic (y Gymreag?) does it also sound like the English "W", and then usually paired with "G" & "Y" as in Gwynedd.

Wish I knew the answer to this. I screwed up and deleted the letter from the Please Deliver! quest, so now I'm stuck w/ this level two quest uncompleted for the rest of eternity, apparently. Haven't found a way to clear it. I'm waiting until things settle down, a bit, then I will send a request on implementing some form of failure. Hell, you'd think deleting the quest item would rate as a failure...

Not sure. Didn't have any trouble giving it to Achaius or Twm, once I found Achaius. Is that, perhaps, the letter from the Please Deliver! or perhaps another quest?

It may very well be that the recipient is completely different, though, as these quests are suppose to vary a bit. Other than Achaius the Ever-wandering, just about any merchant would suffice for this.

Not sure. Good luck.

Help?

I am unsure who I got the quest from to start with, but my journal tells me to look in Tir na mBeo, or Ardee. I have tried giving the letter to every npc in both of these towns with no luck. I have tried both Achaius and Twm, but neither will accept it. I am level 11 now and simply wish to remove this quest from my journal. Any suggestions?
Ardee Version
# Oct 19 2001 at 1:16 PM Rating: Default
I just did this from the Ardee start point. I Found Achaius in Tir na mBeo. I asked the guard and he pointed me right at him. Two things though...first after I handed him the letter he took off. Maybe when yah tunr in the letter he makes a journey to ardee then comes back. So if he is not here wait for him. Secdon I foun him ther after the reset. Not sure if he stands around until he gets the first letter or what. Good luck.

I actually submitted the info on this quest. After submitting the first run, I recreated another character and received the quest from Damhnait, in Howth. The details vary little, but they do, indeed, differ.

In the first run, from Mag Mell, the tracker was directly across the road. In the second run, from Howth, I was instructed to speak to the tracker across the road from Ardagh.

The first run was difficult, as Achaius, as has been pointed out, wanders a LOT. I've actually, since, spotted him not far from the gates o' Tir Na Nog. Just keep looking; you'll find him. The second run was easier, as Twm hangs out in Ardagh consistently.

The pisser, however, appears to be that, if you don't complete this before fifth level, you don't get the Track and Seek quest. In the first case, I completed the quest at level six, but none of the Stalker Trainers will speak to me. In the second case, I finished it immediately, and then received the Track and Seek quest. I might be wrong, but it seems like a logical conclusion; if you can't speak to the Trainer, they can't give you the quest. Oh well.

Good luck, all.

I did this same quest starting in meg mall or was it ardee. But it was completely different. Follow what the Quest trigger person says closely. I didn't finish it till much later and didn't get XP but did complete it. I was at least 4 levels higher when i finally found the last guy.
No XP for me
# Oct 17 2001 at 3:36 PM Rating: Decent
Not sure if I did it right, but I followed the quest givers instructions, rather than who I got the letter from. Didn't get any XP or money for it, so I assumed I did it wrong - but the quest shows complete in my journal.

Lotsa fun in any case...
Dynamic Questing

I finished this quest, but I think people are still stuck in the EQ vein of questing. If a few people get the same quest, you may not end up turning it in to the same person at the end. I believe this is the dynamic questing that DAOC promised us.

My suggestion is to go to both towns and find a possible stalker (not a guard or sentinel) and try to give it to them. If it's the wrong person, it will say they don't want that. I ended up giving it to a firbolg merchant, I think in Ardee (the one without the wall around it). I haven't had a quest fail as described in other posts, but that's not to say that it can't happen.

Just for your info Achaius is a luirkeen or however you spell it and a weapons merchant, and I actually have seen him go past meg mell. Usually between megmell and one of the two neighboring villages in a relatively straight line.

I found Achaius in Tir na mBeo, next to the stand north of the well which otherwise is often deserted. My guess is that's "his" stand, but he often isn't there since he's on the road up to Ardee and back.

I've been searching for Achaius for days now. I liked all over Howth, Ardagh, Tir Na Mbeo, Ardee, and Mag Mell, with no sign of the guy. But, I Only briefly visited Ardee - I'll have to go there again.

I turned the letter in to Twm, in Ardagh. No real reward, but it's directly related to the Track and Seek quest.

Oh, and Damhnait in Howth was the one who gave me this quest.

I got this quest from the Stalker trainer inside of Howth, She advised me to speak with the Elven Tracker outside of Ardagh, she says I believe you ran into her before. Then she also gave me the Hide and Track quest as well. For some reason she will not aknowledge me at all. Any Ideas
RE: IM Stuck
# Oct 16 2001 at 4:28 PM Rating: Decent
Probably because the quests overlapped--the Tracker is used in both quests(this one 1st, then Track and Seek), and probably doesnt know which to respond to. I'd report it as a bug.
not a bug
# Oct 17 2001 at 4:33 AM Rating: Default
i just finished the quest your talking about. sit there awhile and another tracker will come up to the first tracker. follow the second tracker, she'll lead you and a very long round about way back to Howth.
Alternate Ending
# Oct 16 2001 at 3:24 PM Rating: Decent
I turned it in to Twm, a merchange in Ardegh and got experience and a successful ending, but no items. Do you get a better ending with Achaius? (who I could NEVER find, so I had about given up when Twm accepted it.)
