DISCLAIMER: Your Steps and Tasks may be different

Per patch 1.75b:
- Oaken Boots - This quest is now geared towards Armsmen and Paladins between levels 20 and 30.

Talk to Calya in Caer Ulfwych. She will tell you she is an apprentice smith and she has a tale to tell you. What you have to do is get Oaken Bark from a Oaken Knight (just follow road north from her and at the edge of forest into plains go left or west and the oak men can be found there. Make sure you kill Oaken Knight to get bark).

Once you get bark you take it to her brother in Humberton Village (north of Camelot) his name Contyth. Also you get bark you go to Humberton not back to Calya.

When you talk to Guy in Humberton he says you have to get some special iron nails and to get them you have to go north of Snowdonia station and get metal shavings (from ghostly miners north of Snow station and near Swanton keep, same location of Dragon Ant Queen for the Dragon Ant Charm quest.

The miners appear at night past the dragon ants, more up the hill NW. Once you get shavings you go see Mathien in Snowdonia Sation (who is the father of both people) and he then sends you to an armorer (Guards' Armorer) in Swanton keep north of Snow. Station. The armorer asks for nails and Bark then gives you Oaken boots.

Reward:
  Oaken Boots

You need to be L20 to get the quest and the reward is a pair of L14 boots...as the subject states, this is a total waste of time quest.

I am a 15th Armsman and Calya will not give me the quest. When I right click on her it just says she is friendly. I don't know if there is a pre-requisite or if the level requirement has changed, but she won't give me the quest.

Well after running around like a moron for a few hours I was giving up and came across him. Lvl 15 he was blue and didnt stand a chance.

The easiest way to find him is to run down the road untill you get to 58388,14406,1650 once you get there turn N-NWis and run into the woods he is about 30foot in. Should be tons of oak men around there with him in the middle.

For the miners it is Due NW of Snowdania Station, at night ontop of the hill, not sure how you can miss them.
Don't bother

Nice boots...1 problem. It says under class that mercs can do this quest, only trouble is we can't wear plate. So to a merc the're only good as merchendise. :(

I got this quest at Level 14, but I was doing other things and made it to Level 15 before I got around to hunting for the Oaken Knight. I found him in the area full of Oak Men in the NE corner of the Campacorentin Forest, north of the road, just before you enter Salisbury Plains. It took me about 10 minutes of running around killing Oak Men before I found the Knight. He is slightly bigger than the Oak Men, but looks just like them otherwise, and from a distance, it is easy to be fooled. For me, he was up on a little hill, surrounded by Oak Men. At Level 15, all the Oak Men were grey and green, and the Knight was blue. He pretty much went down without a fuss, and dropped the bark. Don't know if I was just luckier than some others or what. My suggestion would be to look for big groups of Oak Men. Be sure and con all of them before you decide the Knight is not there, becuase, like I said, from a distance he looks just like the Oak Men.

Oh, and I was able to find these guys by just simply heading straight NW from Snowdonia Station (using the compass). They are up on a steep hill.

I have scowered the hills between Snow station and Swanton Keep looking for these stupid miners... the oken knight wasn't hard for me to find, just follow the road out of the forest, and before you get to the plains, turn left (I know there is a difference of opinion here, but this worked for me) If you stay within the tree-line, you should see a spawning of Oak Men around, search this spawn grouping for the Oaken Knight (he's bigger than all of the others)
As far as the goast miners go, I have had no luck, anyone have coordinates for this spwan?

I finally finished this quest. If you go up the path from Snow station to Swanton Keep, there is a pach of forest just south of the keep. Once you see this, turn left and hed up that mountain and you'll find the miners. Grey to me at 18. Here are the coordinates if it helps: 25993,23801,8117

After searching forever for this guy and finally finding him with the oaken men, I now run into him regularly on the other side of the road with the Ashen Fellwoods. Further down the road into the forest and on the left side. You can see the tall Ashens at 50000,15000 and I think the Oaken Man wanders from these fellwoods to the oaken men. I can find this stupid Oaken Man any time I want ... NOW
i found the oakenman in 5 min

I make a lot of runs from Plains area to Marsh area, through the Forest area, and I often stop by for a little tree bashing on the Eastern edge of Forest. I've seen this Oaken Knight about a dozen times, maybe 35-40% of the times I've hunted or joy-killed in this area. Where to find him? North of road on very eastern fringe of Campacorentin Forest, almost in Salisbury Plains.

As soon as yoo cross the border on the road, from Plains to Forest, stop! Turn to your right and head up the hillside. Go until you run into that weird border that makes you run sideways along a mountain. From there, turn left and head at a slight angle, say WxSW into the trees. Keep your eyes open and target everything you see moving. One of them will be your Knight, I swear by all that's Holy.

I recently spent a full half hour IRL waiting for Mootang to pop up in Snowdonia, and he's in a specific spot, not a wandering mob, so I understand your frustration, but really, there is no reason he should take four hours to pop, this Knight. I see him frequently. Patience is a virtue and will be required for this mob, but not THAT much patience, folks.

I, too, had little difficulty in finding this Oaken Knight. I received the quest from Calya as stated, and walked myself up to the oak men and saw him pretty much right away, killed him and got the bark. Am I lucky? Probably. I've waited for specific spawns as well and it can be frustrating. However, if I think its taking too long, I go and do something else.Thats the beauty of freedom of choice..there's plenty of things to do other than wait, so just don't wait.
Finally Found The Bastard!
# Dec 04 2001 at 9:27 AM Rating: Default
Well...I, like so many others, had GREAT troubles finding the "Oaken Knight" I was beginning to think he didn't even exist, that he was a figment of my imagination! =) I spent about 3 Days looking for this guy. NO Dice! Everytime I got pissed, I logged.

So...last night I said...OK, NO more...this is rediculous! I did a Final Lap around HOPING I would see something different...I ran down that Dirt Hill and BAM...THERE HE WAS!

Confucious say if one hopes to find the Oaken Knight, one must lose ALL hope first! ; )

From what I hear...the Knight is triggered to spawn when someone gets the quest from Cayla. 2 mins later...he is supposed to spawn. Take it for what it's worth! Good Luck!
This Quest Blows
# Dec 03 2001 at 10:10 AM Rating: Default
I have spend 3 real time days (at about 4 hours per day)looking for this Knight. I have depopulated the entire forest looking for him. I have followed the directions several times thinking perhaps I had read them wrong. I have tried every location listed here in the comments and I have not seen him ONCE, let alone killed him. I have wasted 12 HOURS of my play time looking for this. Don't waste your time on this useless quest. Sure the boots are nice but the time you spend looking for him, you could have gained another level or worked your armorfraft to high enough you could make better boots YOURSELF!

spent 2 days game time looking for oak knight killing oak men and getting no experince, running around and around then finally ther he was. What a bore. I guess if you are lucky you will get him right off the bat and never understand the pain for the rest of us.

I was a cleric at 14th level. Talked to Cayla... nothing. I went out and gained a level. (Now 15th level), She still says I am too low a level. I think that since Clerics can't wear plate, perhaps we can't get this quest?

Could very well be, sir. Only people I've ever seen crowding about to do this quest tend to be the heavy tanks--armsmen and paladins, who can wear plate at differing levels (armsmen at 10, paladins at 20). Given the delay for paladins, the ideal class for this quest is the armsman. I got this quest at 14. I am now 18, and still haven't run into the Knight, curse his hide!

At your level, you should be hunting those ebony fellwoods across the road anyway. Much better experience, and consistent (if not spectacular) drops. The disturbed presences near Keltoi Fogou are also good, but a bit dangerous. Wood ogres, I'd suggest away from their camps.

My 15th Mercenary got the quest, took me two days of camping the ebony fellwoods and running around the oak men while I healed to find the Knight. I'll post what the reward was once I finish the quest.

I am currently past lvl 20 and have yet to complete the quest. I have killed oaks at the loc stated 61k 12k (and the surrounding area), and the Knight has yet to pop. Is being over 20 not allowing the Knght to spawn, and not allowing me to complete the quest? Or does max lvl 20 mean the quest can only be recieved before and up to 20? I dunno, but I've spent a good bit of time wasting oaks, and its been a waste of time...
