does anyone have any nice INF,MINSIE,ARMS i am basically looking for thrust weapons, stealth items, and 2h slashers.... i am on the server merlin on albion, my name is sinaster minaster lvl 40th friar or contact me on ahbra lvl 50th wizard.....
about the King Of Barfog Hill Staff.....
# Oct 08 2002 at 10:24 PM Rating: Default
i have the friar barfog staff it is nice. it is called the stately staff... but does not glow.. so far i have the df diamond, dartmoor, king, and soon the df prince-princess staff.... also i have a mace from the new dungeon Hall Of Corrupt.. it is all black and purple glow it is actually nice but no class restriction..... about the wrath of mordred he is hard he has a parrying skill or over 1000 i was told, so the way to beat him is get in back of him... i think the green knight drops a really nice looking 2h slasher (didnt get stats) it is all green with a white glow... well if you really wanted to raid get 3-5 groups all epic mobs,HOC (new dungeon),green knight, glacier giant, and possibly a legion. my server beat the dragon in dartmoor. the merlin/alb server... but anyway it is possible to do a lot with lvl 45+ on raids so get them together and go hunting get a lot of drops...... hehe if u want to know anything i got it just ask.....

nailing down those levels
# May 30 2002 at 8:41 AM Rating: Good
Got some more precise numbers on the mobs. Diamondback Toads range from 47 to 50. Bearded Gorgers range from 48 to 51. Frenzied Feeders range from 50 to 53 and Needletooth Devourers 53 to 56 and beyond I assume. The general concensus seems to be that the epic mobs are not all the same difficulty. The King of Barfog is the easiest and is probably about level 57 or 58. Mouth is about level 60, Fester about 62 and Afranc is considerably harder around 66. Wrath of Mordred appears to be the toughest at around level 68. Rumors abound of a Ghostly dragon at the center of the lake but I have neither the time nor the inclination to investigate but I believe it does exist and is probably the toughest mob in Barfog. I have not yet fought Tezeadnearc but have heard he is easier than fester and a tad harder than mouth so probably about 61. Unless there is a mob level spy program its difficult to ascertain mob levels when they are purple to a level 50, I am basing these levels on progressive difficulty, how hard and fast they hit, how many hp they have and how hard a level 50 tank is able to hit it for. Also I was running around the undead monks and found 2 roman guards and named roman at the very back of the complex. No idea their significance, I am assuming quest related but the named might have a one time drop, hard to say, they were all grey to me at 46.

The ghostly dragon can indeed be found in the lake near the afanc hatchlings. The level would be around 43, it is part of a level 41 quest which starts at Heather in Swanton Keep.

Hatchlings are prolly around high 20's. I killed them when I was those levels, but forgot the exact level I was, been a while. The named Undead monk is for the level 30 Academy quest, and he hits HARD for his level. With the new named drops that you turn in for XP, barfog is an awesome place to xp at. Go to Snow station to find which mobs drop what for XP, most in Barfog do now.

con 5pts
parry 1pts
97 DD energy proc
DPS 16.2
Spd 3.5
Qua 90%

just a litle tip, if you get a weapon off toads dont sell for less than 2 platinums cos the things they drop are RARE
RE: mobs

Toad Bane glows now and looks really neat. With SC in the game now I doubt it's still worth 2pp, but it sure pulls in compliments on it's appearance.

very right about the rarity. I've gotten 1 drop in at least 8 hours of hunting the higher mobs in this zone, a Frenzied Shield of a Feeder. Extremely good. All the drops are. So yea, very rare, worth alot.

to add on to the post about level 50 drops
# May 19 2002 at 10:18 AM Rating: Default
I was there with a group yesterday killing feeders gorgers and toads and I found that in the major circle there is yet another monster type, needletooth devourers, they are like very tough feeders, about the same exp as hulks in df (40-50 mil) and are pretty tough, they come in twos when you pull them, you have to work your way close to the stones though to pull them. When I was there I got a Frenzied Shield off a Frenzied Feeder, very very nice shield. Level 50 dd spirit based proc that was 98 damage if I recall was NOT a charged proc, unlimited. Other nice stat bonuses too, con (10+) and hp and various resists. These guys are way underutlizied simply because they are out of the way. Do not be fooled, they are great hunting and drop great stuff. The money is great too 2-3 gold junk drops and decent to great exp depending on what you pull.

50 Drops
# May 09 2002 at 11:30 AM Rating: Default
While most know that the Epic mobs drop excellent loot for a group or two of 45+ willing to take the time to run through and kill them, not many hunt the toads, gorgers, feeders, and devourers.

However, they drop some amazing weapons, and for a balanced low 40's group or two, can be just about as good experience as Withers. Diamondback Toads are neutral and drop level 50ish thrusting weapons (ie. Diamond Pike: 16.1 dps, 4.3 spd, +7 Polearm, +4 Con, DD proc). Bearded Gorgers and Frenzied Feeders BAF (so bonus there) and drop several items, including a level 50ish slashing weapon.

In terms of difficulty, Gorgers are easiest if you single pull them or have good CC, Toads are next, then Feeders. Have to be careful with all of them though, as the Gorger/Feeders BAF, and Toads have a large level range (can still be purple to 46)

yes, I couldnt charm two - one inside the tower, and another who is walking with two guards, they both have unique names, not just 'renegade guard' or whatever.

after a tour of Llyn Barfog
# May 05 2002 at 12:06 PM Rating: Default
Here is what I have come up with after walking the whole zone. I counted the following epic mobs
Mouth-GIANT Boogey spawns on hob goblin hill
Shade of Mordred-Basically a big dude in camelot armor, spawned on the far hill near the wicked cythrauls if memory serves.
King Of Barfog Hills-Massive named Cyclops, spawned up with the scouts
Legendary Alfanc-Giant Badger, spawns to the left of the goblin hill near a circle of ruins.
Fester-Giant Bogman, he spawned where the diamondbacks and gorgers are.
Teazdonwc-A Stone Giant type thing, very big very cool looking.
Llyn Cythraul-thats supposed to be his name, I only saw him for a brief moment when was was crossing by the waters edge, he looked to be hovering over the lake but then it started to rain, I can't even be sure if it was him. So this guy is sorta unconfirmed as far as location and name. From what I could tell he was nearly transparent and looked like a big drake.

Those are all the epics I found so far. Now the regular mobs not on this list
Diamondback Toad-Cool lookin toad, nuetral
Bearded Gorger-I didn't get to close, they have a huge aggro range cause I saw someone get aggroed by one from far away. I think they are boogey type monsters tho, can't be sure.
Something(not sure on the first part) Feeder-They spawn with the gorgers and they tend to roam the same spots.
Cyclops Scout-These guys are in two spots and are very dangerous
Cythraul-Normal version of wicked cythraul, drops ancient armor stuff rarely. range of level from 18 to 22.
Cwr Drawgon (or somethin)-Little wolf type things, great exp easy to kill with a slashing weapon. They are 17 to 21.
Black Bears-duh, they are in lots of places, range here from 15 to 19.
Huge Boar-also in lots of places, range here from 18 to 19
Mor-named Bwgan he's at the center of the camp. If these are aggro to you then watch out. They are nuetral to me from killing so many hobgoblins.
Renegade Guards-tough for their level cause of their great armor. Level range 19-20
Lientuenant Grimtooth(I think thats his name)-He walks with a patrol of 3 renegades around the hill, he's one level higher should be 21 or 22.
Sir Dillius-The renegade guard boss, if you pull a guard from next to the tower sir dillius will come too, he is purple to me so I assume at least 23-25. I think he is yellow at 25.
That should just about cover the stuff in this zone. Barfog is a great place in the day but at night you best make sure you have a clear camp spot because it can be tough to see roaming cyths and what not.

In terms of difficulty, I'd say mobs are;

(from easy to hard)

King, Fester,Teazdonwc, Afanc, Mouth, Mordred.

mr ghost dragon is a complete walkover (he's part of a level 43 quest which has a nice story and some good items). You can solo him at 43, so he's hardly 'epic'. (looks like a big KFC with a different head, I noticed similair mobs walking around Odin's Gate (just non transparent).

Also, epic mobs dont always drop.
I was on a trip and we killed all except for mouth and mordred, and we only got two drops (a 2h axe and a wizzie staff). (nothing more of a letdown then beating mr beaver down and not getting anything :\
Mordred
# Apr 10 2002 at 8:12 AM Rating: Default
Agreed, Mordred is at least level 70 and is up there with the Glaciar Giant.
MORDRED
# Mar 29 2002 at 5:00 PM Rating: Default
Mordred IS NOT lvl 63. He is the same lvl as the glacier giant. lvl 73.
RE: MORDRED
# Apr 03 2002 at 3:34 AM Rating: Default
LOL.. you have obviously never fought him.

He is nowhere near lvl73.. He can be taken down with 2 groups while 2 groups wouldnt even scratch the giant.

RE: MORDRED
# Apr 10 2002 at 12:12 PM Rating: Default
Actually, Mordred can be like the Giant. He has a rather large spawn range, and some spawns can be taken down by one group, while other times, he will require three groups. Adds some spice to Barfog sweeps.
Epic MoB
# Mar 29 2002 at 5:56 AM Rating: Default

King or Barfog Hills, about lvl60
Wrath of Mordred, about lvl63
Fester, about lvl60
Teazadoc (or however you spell it), about lvl63
Legendary Afanc, about lvl65
Mouth, about lvl63

Fought and killed them all in groups of 8.. except for Mordred who procs for 800+.

Killing these will eventually make them agro on sight :)

All the groups i was in were atleast lvl48.. mostly lvl50s. And BT is essential when taking these on :)

If you follow the path past the monks house, then past the Bwgwl, you will see King of Barfog Hills standing atop the hill there. He is Purple to lvl 50 and it takes serveral groups of 50ish level people to take him out.

Merchants & Mobs
# Mar 08 2002 at 2:20 PM Rating: Decent
I'm a level 40(41 now) armsman and with nothing better to do checked out Barfog. I see some posts about level of mobs and factions and such, so this is what I found out there.

At 40 the merchants all conned green except the smith inside the shop who is blue. I wanted to test faction so I killed them all. Strange thing is, after killing the three outside, I got no aggro inside even though they were all aggressive to me. I was able to kill all the merchants inside one on one, even resting for endurance once I realized they wouldn't add. After that I went out and killed welsh hobgoblins (now neutral to me) to see how many it would take to raise faction with the merchants. I was killing hobgoblins 5 at a time and it took 65 of them for the merchants to turn nuetral again. The merchants drop anywhere from 2 silver to 20 silver each, and 3 or 4 gems a piece. The gems all sold for double digit silver, 40 silver being the highest I think. I actually sold them back to one of the merchants I had killed earlier once I was able to raise faction, and a message scrolled up that he gave me a dirty look, although remained nuetral. Quite comical.

Legendary Alfanc and Mouth were both nuetral and purple to me at 40. The Monestary has skells that walk around outside that conned green and blue to me. I went inside but after getting aggrod badly didn't stick around. Would have been embarassing dieing to a green con, no matter how many there were.

I pretty much stayed in that area of the lake, so I'm not sure what else is out there. Does anyone know what Legendary Alfanc or Mouth drop? Is it worth bringing a party out there to fight them? It's a trek for just exp.
RE: Merchants & Mobs
# Mar 12 2002 at 8:16 AM Rating: Default
Legendary Alfanc Drops AF98 chain armour and some very nice 1h slashers.
i haven't seen any of the other Epic monsters drop anything yet
Oh Glacier Giant is a walk over compaired to the Legendary Alfanc :)
RE: Merchants & Mobs
# Mar 18 2002 at 12:46 PM Rating: Default
If the Alfanc is that much harder than a glacier giant, then the level listing is wrong too. At 50 it would be red to me anyway, as would Mouth. Have you killed it and how many did it take? What kind of levels are we talking?

Arrrgg. I ran into an Arawnite Messenger in the forest just south of the entrance to Llyn Barfog, yellow at 21, I ran up to him and could not hit him! I got right up in his face and I kept getting to message Arawnite Messenger is too far away to attack?? What, is this like an Arawnite Messenger god or something? What's the deal

he he he....sorry I just could not resist it. The Gods of Sarcasm were influencing me at the time. It is pretty obvious though, you have to admit. The map provided with the game does have plenty of places named on it and Llyn Barfog is one of them. Just look at it and you can see where it is! How hard can it be?! If that is challenging then what hope is there :)

The map???

Well, I have two small children in my home who enjoy cutting and coloring quite a bit. I have not seen the map since shortly afetr I opened the box.

I have not seen the manual since I opened the box for that matter. That's why I visit sites such as this for information. No need to pounce on someone who asks a simple question.
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 21 2002 at 8:23 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) When you buy DAoC did you not get a fold-out map with your copy? If you look at it you will see lots of letters on it that form words. To find where Llyn Barfog is you open up your mystic map and use the special ability called "reading" which is available to all character classes. look for the letters L..l..y..n..B..a..r..f..o..g which spells the word Llyn Barfog. Wherever you locate these words on the map is where Llyn Barfog is located. I hope this is of help to you LMAO
