crafting tips
# Sep 18 2002 at 6:48 AM Rating: Decent
just a tip. don't bother crafting unless you have guild backing or you are high level. not to be rude but i'm sick of people wondering why it's so expensive and can i help them get supplies because they can't afford the 12g a piece for imbued leather or what have you. you can do consignments to get up to 650 but doing that takes alot longer than if you have the money to just make items. after 650 you're gonna need 2-3 plat minimum. not to mention tons of time and patience. also ALWAYS salvage everything you make ALWAYS. if you're making studded you should only need to buy 1 set of bars and you'll make back alot more. for instance when i was doing asterite i bought 20 bars and by the time i hit 800 i had around 200 bars. also remember it will take you A LONG TIME to hit 1000 which is another reason i reccomend being high level as you won't be doing much hunting while you're crafting unless it's to get more money. and while crafting expect to be poor.

I'm not sure whether they've changed the mechanics since that message was posted, but I've found that selling the stuff you make back to merchants is more cost effective than salvaging it. Salvaging an item made with one bar gets you one bar back; selling it gives you enough to buy at least two bars.

DONT JUST LISTEN TO THIS GUY, DO THE FREAKING MATH

I agree with Elentar, I followed the previous guy's advice up to about 616, and now I realize how much of a really stupid mistake that was because im just now getting around to doing the math on items.
I've spent WAY more money than I should have.

here's an example:

20 Adamantium bars costs: 30.24g
Selling 20 Adamantium svarskodd gloves to vendor gets you rougly: 90g

So what do you want to do here? savlage 90g worth of stuff to return you 30g worth of bars?

Now this may change a bit when you get into items that need more than 1 bar. I'm going to do the math on that later too.

I'd have so much more monoey if I hadn't listened to him.. damnit.

RE: crafting tips

Okay, to give the orignal post credit... you used to get 3 bars of metal for second tier studded glvoes and boots... this made it profitable to salvage these gloves and boots... now you only get 2 bars. This was changed because Mythic didn't want us profiting from it... they just dropped the salvage on crafted items so that we would have to sell the product. So now you do want to sell your product instead of salvage but you used to be better off salvaging.
Trinketing
# Jan 08 2004 at 9:48 AM Rating: Decent
After salvaging, make trinkets of the bars and sell the trinkets back to vendor to achieve maximum value. Sometimes as high as 97% original cost.

See the Armorsmith Master to get started. He's in the Big City and will get you cranked up. then its a matter of visiting the merchants to purchase supplies and then head to a forge and bang away making stuff to get you skill level increased.

Does anyone know where in Camelot one finds a Master to begin SPellcrafting or Alchemy?

#Anonymous, Posted: May 09 2002 at 7:27 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) hey, im currenty an EQ player....and im thinking of giving up the game for this. This sounds like so much more fun. I did experience all of those bad problems(scroll up) with EQ. I have a 49 enc and a 48 warr on Brell Serilis and am probably goin to change to this. Thats a good idea right? i heard it takes less time to level in this game. What happens when u die in this? whats the max level? is there major guild battles in this like i was told?
RE: Bariak(from EQ)
# May 20 2002 at 2:37 PM Rating: Default
The advice from the other reply is dead on. I had a iksar monk that was level 53 when I stopped playing EQ. While I was never uber, I did have some descent things. I went about 4 months without playing EQ so I thought I was finished with it. I walked out of KC and handed the first person I saw sitting down over 20kpp worth of items. I now wish I had those back. I could replace them but I decided to start playing Camelot instead. I still wish I could play EQ but this game is just as fun. Leveling has been easier than EQ but I am young. I have not made it to the frontiers yet but they sound more interesting than camping/farming/raiding.

Don't delete your EQ chars until you are sure your hooked on DAOC.

GoodLuck
#Anonymous, Posted: May 15 2002 at 10:52 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) The advice I would give is to not jump in feet first. Don't give all your EQ equipment away and delete your characters. I prefer this game over EQ personally. I haven't played Evercrack for about 7 months now, due to this game. There are those, though, that don't like it. So...try it out...if you like then welcome...if you don't, enjoy EQ, it was nice meeting you.

Getting past 500
# Apr 02 2002 at 6:14 PM Rating: Good
Can anyone give me some tips on advancing past 500 armourcrafting please? My main problem is: I've just received a consignment for mithril pansarkedja and I have no idea what to do leather-armour-wise (which I can't make because of the 75% cap). I can't find an NPC vendor for leather armour and I figure they can't expect you to buy from players because it would take hours. Can anyone help me?
#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 30 2002 at 11:21 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) there are vendors who sell the leather pieces you need.

anyway how do i make some nice monay from armoring and witch item is the best to make and give good money
RE: how do i get enough money
# Mar 22 2002 at 12:26 PM Rating: Default
You will find as you go along that you will make money in the long run if you keep doing what you have done so far. It takes time and the rewards at your level are low by comparison to what you get later on. My crafting skill is now 548 in Midgard and I routinely get 3 to 5 golds per consignment now.

When I was your level I would sometimes only get coppers in return.

Just keep at it, as your skill increases you get more money back and you get tougher things to make. We have a lvl 5 player in our guild whose crafting skill is over 630 and he can make about 5 golds per consignment easily.

Also, when you reach that level you will find the need to leave jordheim to get supplies. When you reach this point, it is thought you will need to stay in Gna Faste to do crafting at this level.

This will be where all the spindle halla types go when they want to sell the stuff they got while grouping in there. You can /salvage the parts they bring back and get supplies from them better than buying from the merchants.

Armour Boosts
# Mar 10 2002 at 7:19 PM Rating: Default
Want to boost your armour skill about by about 55 every 100?

If you make tacuil gloves or boots, you get more cash for selling them (to NPC's) than the materials cost. The only loss is if you fail to make the items and lose materials. I am about 355 just finished making loads of shell tacuil boots and can't wait for 400 to do it all again with fossil :-)

post 650 advancement
# Feb 14 2002 at 10:25 AM Rating: Good
I am an Armorsmith, I play in Hibernia. I was wondering if anybody has any tips on advancing past skill 650. I just hit 650, so I made myself the best set of armor I could... I got lucky and now my skill is 654. Next I tried to power thru a few points by making coral tacuil boots, which con yellow with respect to my armor making skill. I made 20 sets of boots and I got 0 armorsmith skill points out of it. That burned up about 30 gold I think. I was shocked that out of 20 tries on a yellow item that I would not get a single skill point. Was I just unlucky? Should I be attempting orange items instead? Or should I just rob a bank before I continue trying to raise my skill? And does anybody discuss trade skills here, or just ***** about EQ?
RE: post 650 advancement
# Feb 26 2002 at 2:09 PM Rating: Good
Not that very many people read here, but skill points do seem to come more frequently when you craft items that con orange. This is only a casual observation, I haven't kept track of number of items made vs skill points gained.
