my pet helps me alot in rvr and pve by keeping the attention of casters,in rvr with them on the caster i can easily put them down with 3-4 arrows, without pet im bird food.in pve i can send the pet in and let him get started then just poke holes in the munster till it dies, even if my pet dies i can insta recall it with no problem.

If you was thinking of Specing in BC please stop. Beast Craft is the worste spec line offered to any class. Even Painworking in the necro line has more function that BC.

For one, youe pooch is always going to be a weakling. You will never EVER find an insect worth charming, and even though you might think BC looks like the pets charm specs that Minstrels Mentalists and Sorcerers have, you would be Wrong as an ant eater charging into a battery of Army Ants and thinking it would be a great place to stop and eat.

Most folks do not Spec in it at all or they toss a few points in it to lavel 7 for some base self buffs and a somewhat more powerful pet. <Powerful is way to strong a word here> the Most the smart Hunter ever puts into BC is 35 for the highest level pet, with the +12 to +15 you will have the best possable crappyest pt possable to your Class.

IMO Mythic urgently needs to amend the BC spec line it is without a second thought IMO the worst spec line avalable, Even specing in Crossbow as an armsmen is more useful than this spec ; /

I hope this helps diswuade you from wasteing a Respec stone.

the trick to playing a hunter in rvr is to follow a battle group and pick off all the half dead retreaters with arrows and your pet.

I'm going bow-42 (I already Have my items that will boost the skill at 50 and I'll get +8 On bow when I use all of them.) stealth-15 (I also have items for stealth to and with the realm bonuses no use for hunter to blow his good points away with stealth) BC-45 (Why 45 you ask.. Everyone asks this! But I see 45 is right in the middle of 40-50 of course. Now you take into consideration most guys out in the fronteir are 45-50 and most can kick your *** in melee. Now if you have BC to 45 you can charm a pet that is atleast going to be blue to them and with your pet buffs it will really give them a bad day while they chase you across the country and that pet is snapping at their heals) Spear-35 (35 spear is just in the middle. Now I know I won't be able to get all this stuff right off but with realm bonuses sooner or later I'll get up there) I haven't calculated everything but if I come short a few points I'm really going to take off some in stealth with my respecc. If you want a good Sniper without traning to 50 I suggest maxxing Mastery of Archery which will take down your load time so still even so you can get as much damage in as a person with bow trained to 50 and probably do twice as much. I mean hell just look at the sheets, if you train in all the Realm Skills which sooner or later you will be able to then you can pretty much do anything. Worried about spear? Train in Mastery of Arms, it'll take that nasty spear recycle time down so you can hit the enemy more. I'm 47 and I have most of these skills already, not maxxed yet but I have trained Mastery of archery to it's fullest and Mastery of arms to the 3rd. I can get an Alb Merc down to over half life before he reaches me and my bow is 40 with bonuses. Then I just send out my pet and have him take off another 100 or so HP's and Melee him off.. Most tank units have a slow melee attack and with the arrows flying and the pet biting you can do most anything. When the tank reaches you and you have trained in what I said your attack wil be faster than his your quickness will be faster with your BC and you'll more than likely dodge what he has to offer and your pet still biting you could snare his butt and laugh all day. Same thing with casters only i reccomend sending your pet out first then shooting the ******* out of him.... Just have fun with whatever kind of hunter you play and keep on killing. We are all on the same side here so the hell with other people's opinions. Play your hunter LIKE YOU want to play it.

Actually, hunter melee is probably their most underrated skill. I've been on both sides. High bow, no melee, and now, high melee, moderate bow. First, there is not reason to max your bow, it's a waste of points. Take it to 40, and you'll have +11 from items, +any realm ranks. That's enough to crit any person in the game and the little bit of damage difference isn't going to help you. Hunter bows have neither the power of the scout, nor the range of scouts and rangers. So, use what you got.

Points are never wasted in Beastcraft. This is what the hunter has over the other two archers. I use my pet as a nasty annoyance - which is often just enough to get that extra shot or hit in that will change the tide of a solo battle. The buff to armor is alright; hunters need all the help they can get as far as defense. The Dex/Quick buff is a big one though. How often you crit is based on Dex. The speed you fire is based on Quick. Both suppliment a hunter well. The speed boost is also nice, not necessary, but it will save you many times over if used correctly.

Lastly, spear is a nice little surprise if you plan on soloing. Without it I was chopped lettuce. Now, I am solo most yellow cons and any inf. 3-4 hits and the target is down. The reason? Well, you may hit a little, and do 40-60 damage with your spear at 10. At 44, however, you hit all the time for 140-200 damage. If you can get behind your target, they are toast. Razor's Edge to stun, Odin's Wrath to destroy them. Most people ignore me in melee cause I am a hunter, makes it easy to come up from behind.

Stealth, put it where you want it. I have 32. I can get to 50 with items and Realm Ranks. No need to be beyond that. Personally, I don't like griefing nor sniping. I enjoy large numbers in heated battle. I use stealth mainly to scout. Don't need to be fast for that, just unseen. With Camoflage you're all set.

I'm not going to argue my standpoint, but you have from me from experience. Granted, this may not work for a low strength hunter (kobold). However, I suggest you use what you have over the other archer classes.

Suggested Specs:
Bow: 40 (easy to put above 50)
Spear: 44 (get the best spear styles, high dam)
BC: 35 (moderate buffs, best pets)
Stealth: 32 (can take to 50 for speed)

Or
Bow: 40
Spear: 44
BC: 43 (all but the best dex/qui buff)
Stealth: 20 (max of 40 with items and realm ranks)

Of course, it all depends on how you want to play. I have experimented with both and found that I like to stand and fight, not run away everytime someone comes after me. This is going to become an issue when tanks can snare from behind in 1.53

Good luck, and Skadi's Blessings. Feel free to message me on Percival if you have questions.

bow at 39 rest through items 42 if you wanna use a crafted bow, which are superior by far

beastcraft at 43 is the highest useful speccing

stealth 30 shouldn'T be topped too much either

yes u can max bow and spear if you spent some points on bc

you get miniups at lvl 40+ ( 1point per lvl)
Going bow
# Apr 04 2002 at 9:10 AM Rating: Default
Hey, im going bow fully out, but i wasted some points on beastcraft, about 3 lvls i think. Im lvl 10 now, will i be able to max out Spear and Bow at the same time even if i wasted some points on beastcraft ?

There are no new crits after spec 27. So what good is getting composite bow past 27?
RE: Going bow
# Apr 10 2002 at 2:36 PM Rating: Default
It's stupid to go all out bow. I figured that you can get bow to 41, beast craft to get to 43(that way you get highest available speed bonus, which is really important in RvR). You NEED beastcraft for "going all out bow". You get self buffs towards dexterity, quickness, armor factor, and speed with beast craft. It would be stupid as a hunter going all out bow not to use beast craft in my opinion.

Purebreeds
# Mar 04 2002 at 6:34 PM Rating: Default
if u want to just plain snipe other realms, u should make a purebreed sniper. if u are using spear train it only but to 10 then stop cause u get a lance skill that finishes the opponent off. The rest should go in beastcraft, bow and stealth, start this at lvl 1 to 50 and u be a verrrry good sniper

Mythic sucks
# Feb 01 2002 at 10:34 PM Rating: Default
Mythic is crap.

They wont add hunter shape shifting.

They wont add this skill ever.. there are 2 or 3 skills that every single class is missing. No class is complete expcept the healer types.

Get use to and then quit is Mythic's motto.

BC Needed If U Have 2 Healers
# Jan 06 2002 at 2:46 AM Rating: Default
I was wondering, if you will always have 2 healers in your group one spec'd in Aug the other in Pacification do U really need to train in BC for self buffs. The healers have the same buffs and also the Haste spell. I was thinking in this scenrio it would be better to spend those points in Bow and Spear. What do U think?
RE: BC Needed If U Have 2 Healers
# Jan 21 2002 at 5:10 AM Rating: Default
Your dex buff stacks with a healer buff. when doing RvR you will often solo and the higher your dex the more damage you will do. I am a dweeb when i dont have my bufs up with a native dex of about 155. Once i am buffed up to 200 dex with my own buff i do almost 150 damage more with my crit.

It is also awesome when the dex buffs stack, taking you over 250 dex and be amazed at your damage output then.

Personally i am pushing for the skill 30 dex buff.

The question is how often do you group with a healer who has maxed out in aug and one who has maxed out in pac. If you do give me a send I would love into that group.
RE: BC Needed If U Have 2 Healers

i group with an aug healer all the time and BC buffs seem to stack with the Aug cleric's buffs, making the pet all that more powerful.
Beastcraft....DUH
# Jan 01 2002 at 6:04 PM Rating: Default
thought to the one who said BC is not worth it...
any hunter who solos will tell you that the AF buff is nice and if you go spear then the 75 to quick and dex makes you hit more often and harder and the max pet lvl 35 will gladly help you by taking out those pesky grey and blue helpers that your prime target in the group of enemy invaders and the pet buff gives your pet 135 more str and con. Now then lets look at the last spell i want to go over the Speed of Hunted line. You walk up see a group take out 3 and then they now see you and so u turn and hit this spell and wala you are now out of range of even spells. Stealth and close to finish the rest of those invaders. It gives you a 20sec burst of faster than sprint that noone can keep up with. In conclusion BC is well worth it. :)
Have a nice day
is it worth it?
# Dec 29 2001 at 10:50 AM Rating: Default
is beastcraft really worth it? it seems that it would be a huge waste of points to me... i say this because you could spend these much needed skill points else where, like in spear, or in bow...
as you may know hunters can train FULLY in spear(to 100% of thier level). this makes us not only strong at ranged combat but also melee combat, with this in mind we get beastcraft... making us more defensivly powerful(also gives us a pet to take/give hits, however the pet is very weak and less effective at higher levels).
so what you are left with is a weak hunter because he had to spend points in beastcraft to get buffs, don't get me wrong i am all for that, but would it not be better to say max out spear and bow then place the rest (bonus points you get between level 40-49) into stealth? i believe you would be much more effective if you forsake beastcraft all together, but that is just me
RE: is it worth it?
# Apr 23 2002 at 10:11 PM Rating: Default
Yes beastcraft is worth it, and you should not forsake it. First of all it is useless to raise your bow and spear to 50 seeing as how you should be able to raise them from 39 or so to 50 with items. Secondly, the dex, quick buff helps your offensive abilities alot, it noticably adds damage and ability to hit things. Charming pets can help quite a bit when soloing, and have some usefulness in rvr. It would would be unwise to skip over this skill, after all, we have it for a reason.
My hunter what i plan him for 50
# Mar 07 2002 at 4:48 AM Rating: Default
stealth-30 swords-6(because have left over points) beastcraft-43(don't need the extra+13 from the 50 buff) compbow-50 spears-23
