Albion's Defence
# Apr 04 2002 at 8:53 AM Rating: Decent
This zone is primaraly the reason you hardly find as many enemy realm snipers as you would being in another realm.

Nicknamed the Gauntlet, and for a reason. The zone is vastly sprawled out by Ellyl, Ravenclan, and the invisable Cyhraeth (all of which are 50+). The large rock bounders are known to leap faster than a humans sprint... and to the untrained eye, the grooves can come alive, bearing down branches of the knotted fellwood. The only relative safe spots are the Albion outposts themselves... Making it very hard to survive on your own if your a Hibernian or Midgard.

The Great Brown drake also makes appearances in this zone. (The Great Brown Drake is the Albion equivalant to Midgards Glacial Giant... Does Hibernia even have anything to match?)
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 25 2002 at 2:01 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I knew that RvR was goona be tough. So I waited untill lv 25 to even atempt it. This was a bad idea. Why? Look at the title; everything was grape to me. Although I did get 6 relm points when someone rezzed a corpse for half health and he was gimped; I was the first person to attack him, then a couple others in my group got him. But in less than 10 seconds there were a dozen people on him and he died. I got 6 relm points and 1 bounty point. Later on I developed a taste for RvR at 25... It was turf. I thought I'd wait till lv 30(when I, as a pally get revive) to go RvR. But when I was lv 28 we were gettin raided and I figured I'd support my guild and Realm and defend it. Well, I saw a few more reds and oranges, but about 80% of the guys I saw were grape. Now I'm lv 30 and look forword to reviving players and running back and sitting to regen power and hope I don't die.

That was ment for MR played EQ since 1999 back there. Im even surprised you lasted so long if you just get told how the world works
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 12 2002 at 3:27 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) No offense but why dont you lvl up to 30 (ish) and find it out yourself. Even if we tell you exactly how RvR works then you die then youll die and die and die just like the people that lvld up did. In short, get off your lazy butt and play the game !

at one point and time u could be beast in RvR at lvl 30 now u are fodder. I would go RvR at lvl 30 for some classes ie infiltrator/scout. as a tank i wouldn't suggest going until lvl 40+ unless u don't mind dying ever fight and first. there is also the option of going to yggdra/gorge for some lower lvls, but without a speed song u have to worry about snipers, aggro's, and other realm just plain killing u.
RvR feedback for you

To answer your questions as best I am able:
Yes, you buy the Medallion to the Realm you wish to go to at the portal site, for Albion that is Castle Sauvage. The vendor sells Medallions to Midgard and Hiberia there and I would guess it is similar in the other Realms. To return, most use the common tactic of attacking an enemy Realm Guard or dieing in combat against opposing Realm players. This is done because no experience or Constitution is lost for dieing while fighting for your Realm. Note that there are monsters of varied level and aggression that will attack and kill you with normal results for any monster encounter(i.e. Exp loss and so forth).

When you die RvR, you are not able to be looted and you can be rezzed normally. You recieve Realm Points for engaging other realm Players, none for Realm NPC's, when the other Realm player is slain. More points are recieved for slaying higher level players. I think there is a bonus for slaying players that are invading your realm as opposed to you invading theirs.

Most player encounters are similar to monster encounters as far as spell and damage ability are concerned. You recieve death messages in the area you are in just as you do within your realm, so it will announce that "HiberBard was killed by AlbionTank".

I hope this answers some of your questions, best thing is the get to a decent level (30ish) and go get some first hand experience. :)

Cool. First response I've received in various posts looking for info -- I know it can be annoying, but then again, it's really really nice for us newer players to be able to figure out if we really want to play the game. (don't ask, involves everquest, bitter..o so bitter).

Anyways sounds like the end game is exactly what I was hoping -- no crap. No, hey, lets jump through a hoop 8 miles above the ground when we can't even jump, do a backflip, and land on your head on the red X to enter the zone. And THEN..HA good LUCK getting out.. (sorry..rant..habbit)

Thanks again. =)
