Awesome dungeon
# Dec 08 2002 at 5:24 PM Rating: Decent

Recently started a kobold shaman and was told to come here around level 10. Have been having a blast soloing this place (seems no-one likes to group with me). Have had heaps of good drops, made some gold and awesome xp. Am now level 16 (in about 8hours playtime) and almost fully kitted out inmagic stuff wiht nice stats for a nOOb...

I think this dungeon is the ebst low level dungeon in the game, but thats just my opinion :)

Expanded Lair
# Aug 20 2002 at 8:53 PM Rating: Default
Apparently Nisse's Lair has grown quite a bit. I do not know the exact date it appeared, but it was there on August 19th. The new section branched off right at the entrance, before the tomte handlers and thugs. Instead of going right, just continue down the path. I was hunting at level 18 on Percival with my berserker, Onk, and found the tomte's easy to hunt and great experience.

Good Hunting.

I'll say it's grown... there's a new section of dungeon filled with spiders (cave & poisonous, all same levels as the rest of the dungeon), and past that is a large cave with a large spider in it (it's called 'Callilepis Nocturna'). It's blue to a level 23, and a fairly easy takedown. Has a poison DoT that hits for about 5-7 a tick. Dropped '20 Chitin Tipped Arrows', and nothing else. :/ I've heard it may drop a +envenom jewel, but have heard nothing confirming it. Anyone???
(btw, emailed a pic & info to Illia's, not sure when it'll be up...)

Prisoner?
# Apr 08 2002 at 4:07 AM Rating: Default
Nisse's is great xp for me at lvl 10. I'm a shaman and with my thane friend we have no trouble with the guards in the first room. occasionaly a yellow lair guard comes out and causes a bit of trouble (we usually already have 3+ tomtes on us by this time anyway!) but other than that its easy xp unless you overestimate urself. I've seen the haunt kill two full groups down in the dungeon (16 people :) ) and it's a good idea to steer clear of the cave spiders so that you don't aggro them and let them slaughter all the other PC's in the area. As far as I can tell, the aggros don't cause the danger... it's the low level PC's who try to kill them :)

But, one thing I don't get... whats the prisioner for on level 2. The excectioner seems to be guarding one at certain times of the day. I haven't managed to get to it, cause I wanna know what the point of it is before trying to save him/her (plus the exectuioner will kick my *** anyways :) ).

There is a quest from Thorgil that involes releasing the prisoners
How to get there
# Apr 03 2002 at 8:09 AM Rating: Default
To get there:
Bind in Vasudheim. Go over to Alomali and swim across the lake to the shore (NOT the island in the middle of lake).

Follow the road along past the tomte fort and silver lizards. Stop just before the bridge and turn to your left. Walk out a wee bit and you should see an island, Nisse's Lair is there.

I found this place great for lvling up to about 15/16, and getting some pretty good newbie loot.

You just have to be careful of the patrolling guards which are usually quite a high lvl, and of the trains which quite frequently run through the first room. Leave the trains alone and they should leave you alone.

Bad Spawns
# Dec 15 2001 at 1:44 AM Rating: Default
Yeah there are brittle bone weapons and armor here.

The biggest problem i have had with Nisse's is that just as you are getting things straight to take Nisse or a room full of spiders, the guards you just finished killing spawn right beside you and turn a simple little 5 on 6 in to a bloody 5 on 10...

How I get there is run NW from FT Alta. When you get to a river swim across it and head east, in like a minute you will see the bridge. Keep going east and you will see a small camp, run past it and the small island containing Nissa's Lair is right in front of you. I have soloed there before with my level 11 hunter. I can take tomte svangers no problem, as they con blue to me and I can take down the occasional lair guard which conn yellow to me. If you know what you are doing and do not venture to deep inside 2 people can fight in there. The loot I have seen so far is Tomte Long Sword and Tomte armor, a friend got a Tomte spear. I think I once heard there is brittle bone weapons in there but I may be mistaken.
Trains can be bad in there. I was once in a group of 8 with 2 healers and all but 2 of us were wiped out buy a spawn coupled with train of spiders.
Hard dungeon ..? No.
# Dec 04 2001 at 2:39 PM Rating: Default
Ive been in this dungeon from levels 8, to 13 that i am now. Its a really good dungeon, if you play on earopean times like me, when me and a healer friend own the entire dungeon :-), deeper down is a lot harder, and we cant do nisse or a lot of hoodoo's and protectors at once, but the executioner and friends is okay. I have no idea what loot drops here except tomte commen items , as I always seem to get jerked by autosplit :-). Make sure you have a good group when taking on everything, because you WILL get ADDS ALL the time. Great way to learn group strategy, I pity those whining about 2 many trains. Anyway, just my 2 cp, have fun hunting here.

Dungeons / Trains
# Nov 26 2001 at 5:35 PM Rating: Excellent
FYI, trains are caused by poor hunters (and their stupid stunts), not by the dungeons. Just like the ground does not cause a fumble in football, the dungeon does not come find you and kill you. If your playing style is so narrow and one-tracked that this low level dungeon is too much for you to handle, then just start a new character every time you reach level 5. Therefore, you won't be bothered with dungeons .. and those of us who enjoy the challenges of strategy and work well in dungeon groups can have an awesome gaming experience won't be bothered by those who cause trains and then post complaints versus trying to remedy their own incompetence by learning something for a change!

Oh come on.. even the BEST players will have to run now and again. End result, a train.
RE: Dungeons / Trains
# Jan 02 2002 at 3:46 PM Rating: Default
True. Those that cause the trains and know it should at least try to correct their playing style. Talk to other high lvls of your class for tips most will give you a few tips; others will be jerks and tell you to figure it out.

Really? I dare you to spend a few days in Tepok's Mine in Albion, mobs 'do' come out and look for you..
RE: Dungeons / Trains

I'll agree with that totally. I've hunted in Tepoks since my main is on Albion, and the mobs there will DEFINATLY come looking for you...

err looked at that after I posted of course, I forget where I saw the Valorbound Spear, it wasn't in the jagers room, might have been in the executioners room.

Nisse's Lair
# Nov 26 2001 at 8:32 AM Rating: Default
Are you sure its the dungeon? I've gone plenty of times, and sure there are trains, but not that bad or that often. Tomte Spear drops randomly as far as I can tell. I've seen it off the tomtes near the entrance, and right around first level area. I've also seen a Valorbound Spear and a Trident down in the room with the jagers. A very nice bow drops off the Executioner as well.
Horrible Dungeon

This dungeon is horrible. Way to many trains are pulled here. Tomb of Mithra is a way better dungeon.

Who drops the spear?
# Nov 15 2001 at 12:09 PM Rating: Default
Does anyone know who drops the Tomte Spear, and approx. what level the MOB is?

Hunters are the only class that use spears, so there aren't a whole lot of them dropping all over Midgard. I'm keen to get my hands on one.

Thanks!

max lvl

I know the max level says 15... but can an 18 go to the back room and still fight things other than grey?
RE: max lvl
# Nov 22 2001 at 1:01 PM Rating: Good
Cave Spiders are green to 18th lvl, occasionally blue. They have a Harry Spirit effect, which will slow your attack speed unless you've had it buffed.

Poisonous Cave Spiders are blue, occasionally yellow. They do poison, but it's not all that bad.

Tomte Jagers are blue, & the Tomte Caitiffs usually yellow. I've had both of these mobs run right past me without stopping to aggro, probly because they were returning to their spawn points after being trained to the entrance. Other times I've been killed by trains of the Jagers as they patrol the lair.

Tomte Hoodoos & Protectors are usually green, as is the Executioner. Hoodoos are casters of some sort, but I'm not quite sure what kind of spells they're casting.

I've had fairly decent success soloing spiders & higher-level Tomtes as an 18th lvl Healer. I fully self-buff, then pull with Hinder Spirit & melee from there. So long as there aren't any adds, I have no trouble, & with Favor Of Eir up & ready, I can solo a yellow. Loot isn't all that great, but the xp isn't bad at all for soloers. But trains are frequent, as are adds, & soloing in here at 18th lvl isn't as profitable as soloing in the Huginfells area.

IMHO, this dungeon blows *chunks* compared to the Albion "newbie" dungeon, Tomb Of Mithra.
