How do you manage your inventoryFollow

After several weeks farming in Hardcore Heritage and other zones, my inventory is a mess. I have 102 chars spread over many accounts on 7 servers. Now, I really need to organize somehow. I spend way too much time looking for items that I know I have but no longer remember where I parceled them. I hate lore items Smiley: lol . They make EQ life way more complicated than it needs to be. I know lore prevents hoarding, but they make farming items like Glowing Athlai Tunic and the rest of the set an organizational nightmare. I can foresee many hours of sorting in my future and I hate that. Smiley: yikes

In general, I distribute trades materials to the characters who originally started a dedication to that trade. (This was when I wanted each character to have a trades role, which was later defeated by the need that one character max all of them.) I have two characters who do no longer engage in the combat world of the game, but mostly just store things for the rest of us. I have a left-over guild on one character (guild folded years ago) with related guild bank. A lot of inventory is stored in the housing area.

For advanced armor, I try to store that in the bank of the character most likely to use it next.

I have a paid Magelo account which helps me remember where things are. This even finds those items in housing storage.

Some things are even stored in "parcel". These can be a problem because Magelo does not recognize those items.

lol I do it the hard way

/Outputfile inventory for each toon and look manually

i due the hunter kills rewards for more slots (better bags)

but I only have 4 toons over 90 so most are bank spaces.

How does housing storage work?
I tried to ask about it a while back but worded the question badly.

On the subject of organisation, is there a way to enlarge the guild bank or is it one size fits all?

I've seen this mentioned and I see there is an achievement but is there any great benefit to having one character with all skills maxed?

I prefer to let my characters choose the skills they want to pursue. Maybe I'm just soft.

I have one character with all 40 slot tradeskill bags in his inventory and in his bank. I just parcel all tradeskill supplies to him. It isn't quite enough space but it is pretty close. I also have 2 guild banks which are entirely mine to use. It's never really enough though since I'm a terrible pack rat.

I would really love to see DBG add in bank tabs (similar to WoW guild bank tabs) either bought with plat or DB cash. The more bank tabs you have the more bags you need to buy - so win/win for them. The entire inventory system also desperately needs a text search field to highlight items you are looking for! How many times are you doing some quest hand in and you just can't find the item among the other 500 things you have in your bags...

Maybe a dedicated EQ fan could repurpose this open source
inventory management app from the Anarchy Online community.

https://sourceforge.net/projects/aoiaplus

The original Anarchy Online Item Assistant has been around for
ages, while the AOIA Plus seems to be a newish branch. The official AO forums
have lots of different links and comments. Good luck.

All guild banks are identical. They all hold the same volume of items and are all organized in only one way.

Here we go. The story is LONG.

It all started with the quest Protection of the Cabbage. The name was an in-joke among staff. https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=2420 The result was a spell and an earring which could be in two forms both named for Xanthe who was first to complete the quest.

Then there was the Coldain Prayer Shawl series focused in Thurgadin. The final result was https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=11999 , the Blessed Coldain Prayer Shawl.

This was followed by the series of quests initiated through Aid Grimel. https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/npc.html?id=11805 Doing his series of quests required highest skill in all of the trades and also required completion of all of the Planes of Power gods kills.

The Serpent’s Spine expansion brought a variety of adventures for beginning players. Among them was a tradeskill series resulting in Glowing Green Silver Earring of Dragoste. https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=55182

With the Secrets of Faydwer expansion came Eron Nurwistle https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/npc.html?id=26817 , located in Dragonscale Hills, and his series of quests. Eron’s Jewelry could be clicked to be beneficial according to your class. Here is one version: https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=71319

The opening of the expansion Underfoot provided the thematic opportunity to enhance the Blessed Coldain Prayer Shawl, which players had been requesting for years. So we began Coldain Prayer Shawl 2.0. https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=5093 This was a difficult expansion and therefore it was difficult to complete this quest. The link shows several versions of the reward.

And this brings us to the most recent and most challenging of all of the quests. Even when one has obtained the https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=125811 Artisan’s Prize the quest is not really done. Crafting one of nearly every known recipe in each of the crafts (exceptions apply) is needed to maximize the stats of the item.

In this post https://everquest.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=1&mid=14727584336878255&h=50&p=1#23 and a few follow ups, I talk about how I approached managing stuff in EQ. See if that's an approach you may want to try.

Many thanks for the full story, Grove.

I did the Coldain Shawl as far as the Vial of Velium Vapors (to get a gate for melee)

There was no point in trying Aid Gimel as I wasn't going to be killing many Planar gods.
Then I went off and did other stuff and find the subsequent expansions very hard to get into.

Nor is there necessarily any point as rewards move ever onward.

However the short answer, as I see it, is that while maxing skills on one character can give access to some nice rewards, for my playstyle and funds I think I'm fine just pootling Smiley: smile

I have 150 or so characters on 5 accounts... I use Magelo for my inventory tracking.

I just noticed the link I posted before wasn't going to the intended post (parenthesis was in the link URL). Trying again. The system I use really is pretty simple, and VERY flexible. You never EVER have to log in an alt to get something you need.
