Ok, what has happened to my spells? They are all so WEAK and I am a level 106 wizard. What used to take 2 shots, now takes almost 6 or more? Is this normal, has EQ done something or is there something wrong with my spellcasting? Help.....need answer. Many deaths have made me lose confidence!! LOL

So, how much damage were they doing before? And how much damage now?

well going from one set 101-105 to 106

some questions
the 101 did you have higher rank spells
I know I had RK2,3 101 - 105 and did not start using the 106+ yet
Did you have The Slot 3 augs for the 101 - 105
Did you have the AA's maxed for the 101 - 105 ( I am talking FOCUS AA) that boost spell damage

I did not use my any new ROS spell unless
I at least got Rk2 of the 106+
buy the new Slot 3 augs
Grifand Makalroi [ Augmentations ]
https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/npc.html?id=53705

and level up the raid Focus AA's for each spell I plan to use
and even then I tested and compared the two spells

http://www.raidloot.com/AA.aspx?name=claw&class=Wizard

like if you have
AA. Focus: Claws (8)
1: Increase Spell Damage by 16% (Before Crit)
2: Limit Spells: Claw of the Indagatori
3: Limit Spells: Claw of the Flameweaver
4: Limit Spells: Claw of the Oceanlord
This passive ability increases the base damage of your Claw of the Indagatori, Claw of the Flameweaver, and Claw of the Oceanlord spells by 16%.

Focus: Claws (9)
1: Increase Spell Damage by 16% (Before Crit)
2: Limit Spells: Claw of the Indagatori
3: Limit Spells: Claw of the Flameweaver
4: Limit Spells: Claw of the Oceanlord
5: Limit Spells: Claw of Ellarr
6: Limit Spells: Claw of Qunard
7: Limit Spells: Claw of Travenro
This passive ability increases the base damage of your Claw of the Indagatori, Claw of the Flameweaver, Claw of the Oceanlord, Claw of Ellarr, Claw of Qunard, and Claw of Travenro spells by 16%.

yes ROS focus added more power to your 101-105 Claw spells and the 106-110 Claw spells that is why I keep using my old RK3 101 - 105 for a very log time. and still do I only have a few ROS Rk3 so far.

I hope this info helps you.

Sorry for got to ask about your Gear - Your gear changing new spells your
ARMS- focus FIRE
hands - focus ICE
Head -focus Magic

you should not use new ROS spells also unless your focus is 110 gear.

Larth,

Good info, but seriously, would that make it go from 2 shots to kill, to 6 shots (per the OP). His post makes it sound like there's more to it than just these issues you raised.

Or, OP is exaggerating :)

well it could be that they have changed mobs with more HP and more resists.
and when you lvl new spell their can more of a Fizzle on casts also at the start is very notable.

Should look in your log back a week or two and compare same spells and see what kind of dmg you were doing back then and right now. Compare and contrast. DBG recently nerfed dot damage much to the outrage of druids, shamans and necros and to be honest, as a druid, I didn't notice a real difference. However I rarely root-rot. My nukes were unchanged. Maybe somewhere in there they nerfed wizard dps. But going from 2-shot kills to 6-shot kills would be a mega-tsunami sized nerf. Of course, crit frequency and running burn routines affect such things, all of which as a 106 wizard I hope you'd already be aware of. On full burn I can kill mobs as a druid 10x as fast as without the burn. But like all good things, burn buffs come to an end, alas.

I'd also check wizard forums and DBG's own forums. If they've nerfed wizards even a fraction of what you describe I guarantee there are multiple threads several pages long full of wizards complaining and other classes responding "about time!" and "what about what they did to headshot?!" and analogous gripes for every class.
