After receiving plenty of helpful feedback from our customers, we have worked these past few months to implement new payment options for billing. First we introduced additional payment methods for purchasing Crysta, then user-specified amounts of Crysta, and now we're pleased to announce that customers can directly enter credit and debit card information to handle subscription payments. To access the new payment options, simply log into the Square Enix Account Management System!

We hope these new features help to make the FINAL FANTASY XI experience as fun and rewarding as possible.

Awesome, I was planning on resubbing at the start of Feb and the whole Crysta thing had me a bit confused. I am way more at ease about resubbing now.

Time to finally purchase that second account i've been holding off from.

There's one thing about this though. They make it seem like they've never had it before. How every single person in the game complaining about it meant giving "feedback". And how they came up with this as the brilliant next step, when all they've really done is pretty much made up for their initial mistake. *rolls eyes*

I guess they never do appologize or admit fault.

That's a silly question. If there is one thing we excel at, it's complaining.

If you didn't know, you don't have to wait until the 2nd to sub and avoid double billing for just a couple days anymore. Basically, if you resubbed today, 30 days from now they'll want payment again.

It was on the NA site but I don't see why it isn't for everywhere.

As for me and my brother, we're closing the Click And Hope account soon as he gets home for THIS instead. :P on them and nice knowing you.

That entirely depends on whether how bad they screwed it up. Forgive me for being skeptical, but this is SE we're talking about.

If in a couple months nobody has had double charges, canceled accounts, or other billing errors, then maybe I'll switch. But an early adopter, I will not be.

this is awesome.....if they didnt start moving backwards towards 05 ffxi. too little too late, if they did this from the get go i would have still been playing even with the return of the long arduous grind. as it stands they changed payment options it interrupted my playing and gave me enough time to see the changes they were implementing over the course of this change and frankly i dont like it and am glad my money ceased goin to support it.

which is unfortunate caused i liked the changes to the game that made it pick up and play friendly, now that they are goin backwards i dont feel so compelled to want to play anymore in fact reading the forums has just reinforced my resolve to never buy another SE game again due to their constant disrespect to their customers.

There will be double charges, billing errors, canceled accounts, and other miscellaneous errors. It will be glorious and balanced as you get what you asked for and you get what you asked for.

I dunno....is this party- and beer-worthy?

Although...it might just be enough to at least restart my wife's sub. She's been indirectly nagging me about it...

Also, for a game requiring a relaunch, "disaster" is an understatement of several orders of magnitude. More like "disasterrific uber failuricious cataclysm..."

Yes, I made up new words...

My husband decided to reactivate tonight, and I attempted to change his account over to debit card. I received an error as well. Has anyone done this yet?

The rumor going around is they're charging CCs 1 cent to verify the card. Banks are saying no because it's fraud activity or some mess so people are getting an error 601, I think. I'm waiting until this mess passes over before I transfer...

I just changed my SE Account over to direct CC payments, and yes there is a $.01 pre-authorization. I doubt it will even be charged. Even if they did, it's incredibly common practice and not sketchy at all. It's merely to make sure the account exists.

I noticed that the billing is done in El Segundo, CA. That means no banks will be charging international penalties, and I won't have fishy-looking charges from UK (which led to my card being temporarily locked last month until I authorized the charges).

One drawback that I did notice: You can only use one Credit Card per SE Account, so if you have multiple FFXI accounts tired to the same SE Account, you'll have to use the same card. I doubt that will affect many people though, and it could be circumnavigated by using Crysta and/or CnB for one of the FFXI accounts.

Most likely, SE no longer took credit cards because they couldn't. They were getting hit with a lot of RMT-related credit card fraud and chargebacks, which means big financial penalties (if they'll do business with you at all).

If they're starting to take cards again, that means they probably managed to work out some kind of deal with the credit card companies.
