Am I Really Screwed?Follow

Hello folks,
Quick story and question here to see if this has happened to anyone else. A few months back, my credit card expired on my account, so I had to update my payment method. I found no way to update my credit card at the time, so I had to sign up for click and buy. So, I try to set up a credit card through C&B, no real luck here. I end up using my bank account, they send me 2 $1.xx charges and you need to respond with the amounts to complete the set up. They finally process through my bank, I enter them, the charges show as verified and posted on my C&B account. All is good right?

Last weekend I go to log onto FFXI and it says my account is suspended. I'm thinking ok, whats this about? I finally just email the support center for SE and they respond saying I need to call them to talk about the problem. Sweet, sounds like fun.

I call them, they tell me that there were 2 "charge backs" on my account, so now my account (I have been playing since the NA launch almost, about 9 years) is PERMANENTLY BANNED! I talk to a supervisor, he is no help. I was never alerted by SE, C&B or my bank that there was any issue. SE say they allow one charge back, but two and they ban you (have never ever not paid them btw). He said I can submit a un-ban form or something, but without support, it would most likely fail.

Did I really just lose 9 years of character life over $30? I am a life long FF player and have paid timely always. Anyone have any idea? Anyone I can contact? HELP Please! Oh, and the irony is now there is a credit card option, which I have already updated to my credit card. Thanks.

If you can get your bank statements that show that no chargebacks occurred in the timeframe SE is claiming, then you have your supporting evidence.

Talked to my bank and they show no C&B charges anywhere. I know the 2 $1.xx charges were on there, otherwise I would never have been able to verify the bank account to begin with. I need to talk to C&B and see why they weren't transferring funds from my bank account like I established. I have the email they originally sent me saying the account was verified.

This would be absolutely terrible customer service from SE if they would throw away a lifetime customer over something so petty.

So let me get this straight...

- You signed up to auto pay with C&B and had your account verified
- C&B failed to actually take any money out of your account. Didn't even attempt it and get denied, they were just flat out lazy ***** and din't bother.
- SE asked C&B what happened, C&B said that your bank rejected the charges, or requested a chargeback
- Neither SE or C&B let you know your FFXI wasn't paid for for at least one full month. Funny thing, whenever I missed a payment I was locked out within 24 hours...
- SE cancels the account, because C&B swears that you requested a chargeback

Yeah, Crooks and Burglers really dropped the ball here. You need to get them to send you, in writing, where "you" requested the chargebacks. If they can't provide that evidence, you need to request your full payment account history, and also the email where you initially set up a recurring payment.

Then you need to take all this to SE and explain to them that this is why the entire player base freaked out when they partnered with C&B, because that entire payment system is one giant scam.

They need to get rid of Click and Choke... What bs this is. It's a good thing i refuse to use their crapass service.

Customer service has ALWAYS been god awful. Also yes they really are like that and don't give a crap at all, they will lose customers and not take a second thought. I've contacted WoW customer support and holy hell, they won't let you go till they fix your issue...even if it's retarded.

Chances are you are completely boned...even if they do fix it for you you are probably looking at months of keeping on to get it overturned...and I doubt they will anyway, another reason I will never go near any other online title they put out. They have the same customer service office for all their online titles lol

A lot of peopel abused chargeback a few years ago and really pissed them off, so they take it very seriously now. Banned for chargeback x2 is as bad as violating the ToS to them.

this is why I just used pay pal from day one. sorry for your troubles OP, SE is a ****** customer service company, but Ive hear CandB may even be worse. Which combined is CS nightmare I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.

That is just about exactly how it happened Cat. It appeared I was good to go, the bank account said verified... I have an email saying the account was verified, so I thought all was well. Looking at the charges on the C&B account, they said they posted and paid. Now it shows the charges backed out... why? My bank went through every single transaction of the last few months and never even saw them enter the system, meaning they did something wrong after I confirmed the original $1.xx amounts.

No communication later, I am banned from the game. I have never even heard of a charge-back before, so I certainly know that I didnt request that money back (why would I, I want to play the game and have plenty of money in the bank). All they are doing are ******** themselves, because I would never touch another product of theirs (which sucks because I have played FF products since FF1 25 years ago). It is what it is, but I am going to give them hell until I am forced to give up.

Again, get the copy of your bank statement in writing that shows that C&B never even posted the transaction requests to your account after they initially verified the account. There is the supporting evidence SE is asking for.

Ive been trying to set up a new account with SE for this entire night and it wont take my CC info so I decided to try c&b and its just been a horrible experience all around. How does it take hours upon hours to register for a game? Click and Buy sent me the two payment amounts and won't even recognize the amounts when I type them in, which now after reading this thread, I'm not even going to bother with that method anyway. I guess I won't be returning to FFXI after all. So frustrating, I hope you get your account back OP.

And not long after I typed this in, I found out both why my CC info wasnt taking and what was going wrong with my login info. I love Firefox but some days its too protective! No-script didnt even show that there was anything else on the page to unblock, but apparently there was. I tried entering my CC info using IE and it worked the first time no problem. Think it also fixed the problems I was having with matching up my playonline id with the password as well. Downloading the 22k file patch right now, only 9.5 hours to go! So my problem is fixed, heres hoping yours gets fixed too OP!

Strangely it doesn't do that for everyone. I am GLAD I don't have to worry about those clowns anymore since we went to direct pay. Me and 'neko hated them though, they kept giving us international charges.

So I agree with the click and buy sentiment, but what you went though sounds extreme. I wish you luck in getting new account or getting unbanned.
