Okay, so I've read all about the 'defensive' Paladin and how you need to have chants and shield and/or parry as high as possible and don't worry about slash or two hand... What are some good 'all around' specs for a Paladin, both one handed and two handed? And what if you don't want to be in the back of the crowd guarding the flanks? Any advice would be most appreciated.

48 chants is too high, especially if you have access to buffs. 45 will give you the last endurance chant, 46 the last heal chant. Those two are better choices. 42 Shield is all you need for a 1h spec, dump the rest into slash. 50 2h, 45 chants, 34 slash rest in parry is my paladin's 2h spec. It's very well rounded.

I have both 2hand and s/s pally. Above mentioned 2hand stat is almost perfect, but the info on high lvl chants is off. 42 chant gives last endurance, 45 heal, 46 dmg add (battle zeal). Recommend taking 2hand to 46 since 2handed toon is purely offensive with exception of parry.

A decent sword/shield pally spec is 46 chant (otherwise 45 for last heal) 42 shield (slam) 39 slash and dump rest into parry (about 21 or so depending on whether or not you autotrained slash).
