Necromancer HelpFollow

I am new to DAoC and have made a necro, and although the necro seems to rock through PvE quite easily, I seem to be having a lot of trouble in RvR.

I have heard and read that Hits and Con transfer to the pet upon summoning so I have tried to find as much +hit and con gear as possible for when I summon a pet, I even have some purple items with like +60 hit and +30 hit etc just for summoning. At level 36 I have 749 hits and 114 Con (6 over cap). I am curious to know what the hit cap is at 36. With my casting gear on I have 136 Str (4 over cap) and 130 Dex (27 over cap) and 160 Int (37 over cap) But anyway..

My pet(s) never seems to be able to last long through anything even while keeping my HoT on him and spamming Sorrow of Dead. I have tried straight up tanking melee classes spamming the instant Lifetap, Theft of Vim (when possible with FP) and keeping the HoT on him but he doesn't do near the damage as the melee classes seem to put out and I've tried kiting them, but most seem to easily be able to apply a snare and keep him in range. Also, with the extremely short range of my spells, melee just back up whenever they see me start casting to put me out of range which makes me have to move forward, take a second or too to 'stop' and begin casting again, and by then my pet is usually a goner. He is usually 2-3 shotted by archers and the same with assassin/rogue style classes. It's the same thing with nuking classes.

I am just wondering if anyone has any tips or if I picked a really bad class for RvR. I have gone through some of the Realm Point data and such and it seems Necro are always the last in everything, and not just by a little bit.

Do things get better at all at 50 and with some good gear or should I pick another class if I want to RvR.

Thanks.

Read that sticky. It explains buffing very well.

The key to running well with a RVR Sight necro is having yer summon suit maxxed with Hits & Con and having a enh buff bot. I run solo with mine and do very well. In fact the necro is the best toon to solo with besides the stealther classes due to stealth ability to hide. I run with 48 Sight, 24 pain & 6 servant. Speccing 24 in Painworking provides a very nice AOE spell that pops stealthers. If you have a good summon suit and have a buff bot you will do very well in Laby. I suggest gearing all of your RA's if you are lower RR in MoM to raise yer over all effectiveness and then going with WP for the crits. IMO I feel I get better bang for my buck with MoM over WP in the lower RR's. At RR6 I went MoM5 and WP4 with rest to Aug Acuity and I loved it. I prefer to solo so I tried negative Maelstorm but found it a waste as by the time I got it off I was too far down to recover against numerous enemies. Where as if I went staraight for quick cast Lifetaps i would have killed a couple before the group took me down.
