[Hunter] BM for PvP: Gimped?Follow

Hi Everyone!

I just read this thread at the main site: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/4138436616, and it mentioned that Hunter BM's are "a gimped spec" for PvP. Of course that is one opinion, but I am fairly new to the game and started as a BM, and I am really enjoying the class. I have gotten pretty far into PvP (somewhat) with, if I remember right, 4.1k resilience, and a growing strategy. What can I say but that I like the class, but I also like PvPing too, and I beginning to wonder if I should try another class to up my skill. WIth all class biases aside, would you take the enjoyment over the class or over the game play?

Should I turn my Hunter into a BM (PvE-DD) and a MM (Interrupt-DD) for strictly PvE play, a MM (PvP-DD) and a MM (PvP- Interrupt) for strictly PvP play, or stick with my split BM (PvE-DD) and BM (PvP-DD) so I can play both PvP and PvE? (If this doesn't make sense I will clean it up a bit tomorrow).

hanks for the advice in advance!

I would say play whatever you feel comfortable and enjoy playing. I pvp as beast on my hunter and though it's not optimal I have fun and an near top of of every BG

@Rukkuss I have tried playing Surv-Spec but I just cant get into it, plus I would need to add another 100 spell penetration for my traps :/ Survi-Spec might be better, but what I am thinking of is getting the +%exp Gear and leveling a Rouge and PvP with that, but Rouge's for PvP are so...

@Monkeypeew I have a blast playing as my hunter too! But this game, to me at least, is about working as a team, and if I am not able to help out when needed I usually beat myself up over pretty bad. Ya know, think "god, I should just make a pure PvE alt" or a "pure PvP alt" so I can help out whatever team I am on at the best.

I am just wondering when it becomes a burden on other players when something like not being able to change to an interrupting spec to help in a heroic run becomes an issue. (sentence is horrible when I have more time I'll revise).

If you're just going to do some battlegrounds, or just having fun, feel free to choose what you like (I know generic advice...). Any spec will be decent. BM is strong 1 on 1, with some decent burst, you have some self-heals and a pet stun. It's nice. I like it too. Going all Big Red Kitty on a warlock or something is just good fun. Smiley: grin

It's not really an arena spec though. Well okay hunters aren't really much a great arena class about now, but whatever. People like to LoS you, or get right up in your face. Life gets complicated or something. People complain weak/no self-healing on boards and stuff. MM will get the nod more often, silencing shot and readiness are both nice little abilities, and you don't have so much damage tied up in your pet.

You can always go BM PvE/BM PvP like you are, and bring along a moth if you need to interrupt. 1 min is a long CD though (or 42 seconds or whatever it gets down to with talents...). Smiley: nod

Honestly I could play 0/0/0 and still do pretty well and have fun in BGs. BGs aren't exactly the height of PvP ability.

Play what you have fun with. I've got blues and I'm wrecking face with my rogue because I know my spec/class.
