Slicing? How do I do it? Do I want to?Follow

I keep reading about slicing, and at this point I am assuming that it is a good thing but I just don't know. On the bazar many of the items say that they have never been sliced. Can some one please just break it down to me in non-gaming terms. And if it happens to be something I want to do or specifically not want to do, can some one go the extra mile and tell me how I go about performing or avoiding a slice.

smugglers gain the ability to "slice" weapons and armor. Slicing increases the stats on the item by a random percent (about 10-30%). It will either increase the speed or the damage of a weapon, and either base effectiveness or reduce encumbrances of armor (this is also random). Your best bet is to find a master smuggler or a smuggler with the title "Slicer", it may be expensive but they have the best results. In order for it to be sliced you must trade your weapon to the smuggler, then he will use some tools on it (the cost of these tools is about 500 credits)
You also need to have a smuggler slice locked containers in order to get the useless junk out of the inside of them.

Where do you get containers, and do they reduce your encumbrance? Can you store things at the bazar, or do you need a house to store things. Also while on the subjects of houses, is there a maintainance cost for houses like there is for sampler/gathers.

Ignorance may be bliss, or it may just be to stupid to know the difference.

Ive used backpacks within backpacks to store things I am carrying, but this quickly fills up your carry around alotment. Easy way if you don't have a house is to join a bank on the planet you usually hang out on and use the safe deposit box. Houses are great for storing things as I usually keep one room as storage. However, there is a maintenance cost for houses, the bigger the house the more the cost. Also if you live in a Player City you maybe subject to taxes on top of your maintenance cost. Taxes will vary depending on the city.
