If you're not getting consistent backstabs, try being closer to the mob. Same thing with parry; they are easier the closer you are.

I think the smaller shields have a larger parry window.

Managed to work my way back out of Blight Town because I was out of moss and was just getting my sh*t pushed in down there at SL23. Ended up buying Fireball and Combustion back at Firelink, and headed to the forest to farm more moss. Fireball and Combustion are really nice for this section. I farmed the stone giants as well. I'd use Combustion on them when they'd hit me with that slow, so I wouldn't use my Stamina on sword swings.

Ended up farming enough moss to go back, but also had 20k souls so I unlocked the farming area in the forest, and killed those guys for a bit. Sitting at SL30 now, using an Iaito +6. I think I'm going to go farm up some large titanite to upgrade further. I have to get my Scimitar to +10 too.

Smiley: lol The vendor at the bottom of the bell tower in Undead Parish sells decurse items for 3k souls each. They're cheaper than the vendor in the sewer shortcut, who sells them at 6k/ea. I suggest buying at least an extra one, after decursing yourself.

Well, I know not to go down the stairwell where that black knight is now. At least I kited him back up the steps, so I can reclaim my souls without aggroing him...

Havel? You should be able to kill him fairly early on in the game (see my post on the first page). You just need to be able to roll effectively. A shield that blocks 100% of the damage helps, too.

Just get him to attack, and sidestep to his backside as he does it. If you're not sure if you'll make it, you can roll. It's really just about managing your stamina, only attacking when it's safe, and learning the attack patterns. It'll take a while, but enough backstabs and he'll go down.

No, not that guy. The black knight that you see in that opening picture? He's just a standard unit, not a boss. He can drop the Black Knight Sword and such.

Oh, just past the firebombers after the bonfire? He's a bit of a pain, depending on your gear. You can kite bac where you came from, up the nearby tower. He is larger than the doorway, so you can get him stuck on it and cheese him with firebombs. Smiley: lol I didn't kill him 'til later; I suicide-ran for the treasure behind him.

You're not doing too bad. You'll get your white soapstone soon enough and be able to summon help with bosses and such, if they give you too much trouble.

Oh, you ran into one of them? Smiley: lol

Yeah, 12 might be a bit low. They're more or less the same deal, though. I was afraid of them for a while, until I realized that the same regular ol' block & roll works just fine on them.

Just stay close and circle.

My biggest problem is that I'm taking WAY too much damage to have a limited number of healing items. D: And I have a better shield now (95% reduction), so that's worrisome. T.T

If you go from the bonfire and take a right, go down that staircase and go left. There are two spear knights. Kill them, and destroy the boxed to reveal a staircase. Go down that, and just outside that room is a vendor. He sells a Heater Shield with 100% physical block. You can also buy firebombs for 50 souls/ea and super cheap arrows for 3 souls/ea (I use them to pull).

Aggro black knight. Run to ladder where firebombers are. Pelt to death with spells or fire bombs from safety of roof.

That's what I did and he didn't follow me up. Just sat at the bottom eating fiery death.

Also a lot safer if you were trying to take him out before level 10, like I was.

I don't know where to go next Smiley: frown

I rang the second bell and unlocked Sen's Fortress but it's a bit out of my reach for now at SL 42. Anyone have any suggestion?
