No idea, dude. I'm only SL30. I don't feel like going back to Blight Town. Might go farm some large titanite, so I can have mt scimitar all ready to be upgraded.

Where do you farm Large titanite? The slime thing in The depth?

Yar. Right outside the bonfire, there are like 5 or 6 slimes. Burn them all, reset at bonfire.

A strategy guide for Dark Souls just seems like cheating in ways that it doesn't for any other game. Not so much because it'll give strategies, but because it'll have maps with markers for where all the enemies are.

I bought one, but it's still wrapped. I might open it for NG+, or save it for NG++.

I would like to thank FFXI for conditioning me so that I can grind large titanite shards for hours. I throw down my white soapstone and grind the slimes (for shards) and rats (for humanity). At SL30, it's usually around a 30-45m wait to be summoned for Gaping Dragon, which gives me 12.5k souls plus a humanity. Works out nicely.

Since yesterday, I've gained 120k+ souls and upgraded my Falchion to +10, and both my light and heavy armor sets to +5. I have enough green shards to make a couple +5 divine weapons (which I understand I will want for a level). I think they're used for lightning weapons too, but I can't make those yet.

Lightning Shotel is just wrong. Had a couple invaders using them the past couple days during my summon runs. They two-shot me through shield block. I need to build a lightning resist set, I guess.

I often think that, lol. It's second nature to read a book/watch a movie/tv while grinding in games. People often act like I'm crazy, but they just never played a DD through Valkurm.

The drop rate is pretty awful for the shards. I got 5 large and maybe 9 or 10 green in about an hour. Considering it takes me about 30 seconds for a run, you can imagine how many of these bloody thing I needed to kill.

You will. You could do without but it will make your life a lot easier.

Does it matter where you throw it? Does it need to be at the boss entrance or anywhere in the zone? Also can I get summoned by anyone or only people at my SL? I didn't experience with the online aspect so I'm kind of clueless on that part.

I leave it near the bonfire when I'm farming. You can also try leaving it near the boss. However, you can only go so far away from it before it disappears. If you don't want to help players who haven't unlocked the shortcut yet, just drop it past that door. Though, if you do go help someone through frogs and get cursed, it doesn't affect you permanently when you're a phantom so you don't have to worry about decurse items.

You can be summoned by a player who is your soul level, plus or minus 10%. So if you are 25, you can be summoned by players 23-27. I don't know how they handle the decimals, so it might be a larger range.

What is your (active) humanity at when you farm? I'm running at 18 humanity, and I probably get 1 large titanite and 2-3 green titanite every 10-15 runs or so. At least Combustion kills them easily enough. I'll probably go spend my stored souls getting my pyro hand to +15 (@ +10 now).

Anyway, 5 large in an hour isn't terrible. It takes 9 to get a weapon from +5 to +10. Two hours for a massive upgrade isn't bad, IMO.

I see. I'm probably too high to get a summon in that zone then.

18 humanity!? Dude! I don't think I ever got more than one. I have a few in my inventory but I only use them to kindle bonfire. I just got a ring that increase my drop rate to 300 so it should be better now.

My Fireball one-shot them and sometimes if I wait for them to bunch up, I can kill 3 at a time. That's with pyro weapon +3 and 10 INT.

Yea, getting to him is only half the fun though. I'm at SL 52 and this place is no walk in the park. You'll want to upgrade your weapon before going through this place.

I oneshot them with Combustion. Pyro hand is definitely worth the souls to upgrade. I did the forest farm. I can kill the mobs there no problem, so I feel OK about exploiting the AI. Sure it's an exploit, but I don't feel as bad about it as the dragon head exploit.

I think you can farm at the swamp part of Blight Town? You can probably get summons there, even at 52.

I'm glad I found the Covetous Serpent Ring in Sen's Fortress, that 300 Item discovery rate makes farming easy as hell.

The leech are suppose to drop shards but farming in the swamp sounds like a lot of trouble.

I just bought this game tonight. I can tell that, much like Demon's Souls, there's a good game hiding in here, but I really wish they didn't hide it behind a thick veil of confusing symbols and vague descriptions. I have no clue what I'm doing, and I really don't want to look it up, but I feel like I almost have no choice. This is like if I had to play FFXI as a single player game.

The only thing that's really bad is the controls, but since you referenced Demon's Souls, I assume you played it at least a little. Voila! You know the controls. You can go to your player's status screen, and hit one of the buttons and it lets you scroll over every stat and it tells you what they do.

If you have specific questions, ask here. Or send a PM if you don't want to expose yourself to other information in the thread.

The only description that's been an issue is for the Firekeeper's Soul. Don't consume it; you trade it to a NPC to enhance your flasks. Other than that, I haven't personally seen a need to look information up.

There's a thing where you can see what all the stats mean by highlighting em. Wanna say it's in the Character Status menu.

They're all mostly straightforward.
