Mostly if people thought it was fun.
I absolutely suck at FPS games, because I don't have the twitch reflexes needed, so I rarely play them. ME3 was the one I played the most (multiplayer speaking), by far, and that's because it was PvE. I haven't even gotten through Uncharted, because I'm that bad at twitch aiming.
What's similar? The map variety, the gearing/skilling process, both?

The one he really liked had a map that was like two office buildings (with lines of glass windows) separated from each other by a rooftop between them. I think that's the most describable map I remember.
The newer one he liked had a boat that was like a cruise liner, and you could camp out on this one balcony and shoot down a row, or into a cabin to the left (that was long, with windows, and doors on both ends). Oh, I think it also has like an automated factory with a helipad outside? And I remember a board with these weird raised flaps coming out of the ground and cargo containers.
You'd think I'd remember more, because I watched him play plenty... Hate FPS games, but they're fun to watch.
