The script in that Reddit thread I posted earlier has been updated to remove 'democracy' and 'anarchy' from the chatspam too. Also, /r/twitchplayspokemon has progress updates fairly often if you want to catch up.

I've been following this very closely on Tumblr. I just can't bring myself to watch the feed for more than a few minutes at a time. Most of the time Red is just walking in and out of a house or something or ramming the helix fossil up his nose. It is maddening. It just boggles my mind how they've managed to make so much progress like this.

Oh man. OH MAN. They released Cabbage and Dux. And almost all of the Safari Zone catches.

And deposited Abba Jesus and the newly caught Zapdos. Edit: and the Helix Fossil.

Sunday. Bloody Sunday.

It's like George R.R. Martin is writing this episode of TPP...

Yup, I witnessed the releasing of Cabbage and Dux yesterday morning. I was speechless.

Also, came back this morning to see that they have revived the Helix Fossil and are using Omanyte. Smiley: jawdrop

Giovanni was defeated this morning, after much difficulty with the ledge boss guarding the gym's entrance.

This whole experience has me thinking about why this is such a huge thing on the internet-- and why I find myself cheering when something that would otherwise be boring or mundane happens. Walking through an area with a ledge is a huge accomplishment here.

Meanwhile I am playing through Pokemon X for the first time, mowing through trainer after trainer, bored out of my mind. Then I think about Flappy Bird, and how that became such a huge thing as well, and I begin to realize how important challenge is, and how lost it is to this generation-- with the exception of games like Dark Souls. People are so starved for a difficult game, that even something thrown together in a couple of minutes like Flappy Bird becomes a huge success.

Look up the Nuzlocke challenge and apply the rules to your game.

Meh. It's not quite the same when you make the rules yourself. Also, Nuzlocke doesn't help much for challenge when my pokemon never faint and I don't capture any wild pokemon for reasons outside of filling my pokedex. X/Y practically hands you a full set of some of the best/strongest pokemon in the game. Without using any pokeballs, I have been given Lucario (who can transform into Mega-Lucario), two starters, Lapras, and a choice between two fairly formidable fossils very early on. They even made it incredibly easy to get Snorlax from nearly the start of the game. Snorlax and Pidgeot are the only two I use that I actually had to catch.

I've already been stopping myself from switching out in the middle of battle or using items. I suppose it will boil down the same way an MMO would-- with the real challenge coming at the end with PvP. By that time I'll be moving all my previous game teams and raising a veritable army of pokemon with choice IVs and movesets to use against other players.

I dunno, plenty of bullet hell games out there or stuff like Super Meat Boy, etc. And the older games haven't gone anywhere.

Started playing Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl again the other night. Rescuing and escorting that Environmentalist scientist through the Rostok railyard/construction site. At night. In a thunderstorm. That was fun Smiley: laugh

Stalker has been staring at me with depressing Russian eyes from my library ever since I bought them all and never played them last year. Putin will teach us how to love?

I notice while there are more minor issues (pokemon being released) there is more overall progress being made in Anarchy mode than Democracy mode. Also PC's are scary to watch no matter what system is accessing them...some people just want to watch the world burn.

I can't wait until someone figures out how to send the force reset command: A+B+Select+Start.

My SL 200+ NG+++ Darksouls characters disagree with you sir. I have just not been in the mood for shooters since I gorged on BL2 for like 6 months. It will come back around.

Whatever, pansy. Go play with your magic swords and the blasted Ukrainian landscape will be waiting to blow your little elf's head off with a .45 ACP round.

You should try some of the challenges that people stream. Like this one.

I played the boxer challenge some. Was fun, but DS 2 March 11th! Just killing time in PoE until then.

I've been working on breeding a perfect Omanyte in honour of this. Getting 5 perfect IVs regularly now, just need a little luck to get that last one. I've been naming all of the rejected spawn LORD HELIX and sending them out in Wonder Trade. When I am feeling particularly motivated I teach them hidden power and erase their two birth moves so "hidden power" is all they have.

my personal message that people see when they wonder trade with me is HAIL THE HELIX

Cause why not?

This is the second best thing I've seen all day.

The best was watching a level 36 Venomoth single-handedly down Lance's Dragonite to beat the Elite 4 Smiley: grin

Ok. I missed it. How does a level 36 Venomoth kill anything with that moveset?

They already beat the Elite 4?

That is pretty impressive, considering they don't really have any real offensive movesets on anyone but Zapdos who by rights would have folded under the Ice *****.

also maybe I should put this in Pokemon thread but What is an IV?

One explanation I heard for AATTVV's victory over Dragonite was a glitch in the AI; it will always use a Super Effective move type over anything else... even if the move type isn't an attack. Hence it just spammed defensive measures and was slowly poisoned to death!

Game ended early this morning; I woke up right at the end :D 16 days, 7 hours, 45 minutes, and 30 seconds!

I honestly didn't think they'd beat it while I was asleep. I'm sad I missed it Smiley: frown
