I picked it up at release, and have put in quite a bit of time since then. Having loads of fun (when I'm not pounding my desk in frustration). Running a Str/Fth sword and board (with 2 support miracles and 1 offensive). I was really struggling that first night with the Keyboard+Mouse controls (I don't have a USB controller) but I've gotten it down now. Still hate some of their PC design decisions (or rather, lack thereof. Too many console-related things that didn't get properly converted like I would have expected for a PC launch that was designed from the start). Still, it's loads of fun and I'm probably not even halfway done with the story yet (not even counting NG+ and beyond).

Welp my WASD hand needs a break from ESO so I finally picked this up and am installing right now. Woot.

I've slowed down on it but still play it almost every day. In the Undead Crypt right now, thinking I've got to be close to the end but it's hard to tell with this game. Still having a blast, and still dying frequently (though not nearly as frequently as I used to).

Getting back into the swing, just picked up the Heide Knight sword on my fresh warrior. It's on now. Smiley: king

Rerolled Knight. Cuz liked the armor look better... what? Totally legit reason. Giant boss and first Pursuer down.

I'm having a mild identity crisis. I'm just kinda farming flaming tower now, but I have not settled in on my favorite weapon. I'm swapping between broadsword, flame sword, Heide, and halberd.

Honestly I am doing best when I dodge roll 2h a sword on the old knights. But I want to love the halberd because it's quality and my last play through for DS1 I fell in love with it.

Also armor... I picked up the drangelic but I still like the starter knight armor better. So I should probably start upgrading it.

DECISIONS!

Played quite a bit this weekend. Got through Flame Tower, Warf, and Lost Bastille as well as blue cathedral. In the Huntsman area atm was struggling a bit so i broke down and wikied some flask shard locations. That made my life way easier. Plus life after the Ring of Binding is like a whole new game.

My most uber weapon is the humble Flamesword +3. But I did farm up an Alva's armor set and +1 that. The lack of titanite shards early on makes my inner upgrader sad. Considering how easy it is to break weapons I am trying to keep a few back ups handy but I just don't have enough shards to upgrade past 1. Looking forward to unlocking that vendor soon.

Playing with lots of weapons and upgrading them is one of my favorite things.

Toughest boss so far was mini Ornstien becuase I took him on before I had really upgraded anything. Had a hiedi sword +1 and starter armor. He kept block breaking my stam when I tried to turtle up before moving in left. I lightened my armor a bit and started making sure I dodge rolled better on the block break and after that was able to get him.

Overall the game feels harder but I think that is partly my lack of playing it so long compared to DS1. Enjoying it muchly overall.

He's a little slow if you circle around him in the correct direction. Sadly, I don't recall which off the top of my head. Do it right and you can keep on his *** almost the entire fight. Then all you have to worry about is the booty drop and getting greedy enough to blow all your stamina.

Left. And amen to that on Stam. In other news I pwned the Skeleton lords found a yule branch past them and immediate went to get my beloved claymore. Plus after buying out the next npc who had 10 shards took said beloved claymore to +5.

*Kisses claymore missed you so much baby. Mobs gonna die so hard now.

I just hit the poison area, and beat the fat slug dragon. At about SL70, going with mostly STR. I have a little DEX to be able to use a bow, and I think I'm going to get Faith up enough to use Med Heal. Kind of like a Paladin build, I guess. I am going between a Magic Mace, a Flame Sword, and a Giant Club. I have some sort of 1H Axe that's upgraded a bit, too.

I play the Souls games fairly slowly. I really like the boss fights, so once I get to one, I tend to just farm it as a phantom for a while and help people get past it.

I kind of wish there were some uses for boss souls earlier in the game. I mean, everyone knows that you use them for weapons, so they just kind of sit in your inventory for a long time. Why not have tiered boss weapons? Be able to use he first few boss souls for weapons early, and have those weapons be weaker than later boss weapons. Or use some early boss souls for armor, etc. Give more choices to use each boss soul on, but have them tiered. Like, if you use the first boss's soul as soon as you get it, you can make this helmet, but if you hold onto it until you get some item later, you can make these awesome boots.

Aside from specific niche builds and NG+ items, I can't say I much care for the boss soul weapons. That said, you can get the first boss item vendor after killing only three bosses, if you know how. It might be two. I've heard one is skippable.

Yeah, but it should be within the natural progression of the game. I get that that's not the Souls forte, but still. I mean, it's still very fun, it's just that the boss souls don't feel like adequate rewards if by playing normally, you have to wait half the game to use them.

Seems like the only time I use boss souls is for shields like Artorious Shield in DS1. I n DS1 I used to make the weapons just to collect them but never really used them. So far in DS2 I have been looking them up, going meh, and popping that sucker for the souls. Smiley: lol

My Knight is just about the same level as you Spoon and just started Harvest Valley. (Poison area) I need to do some sunbroing and help others at some point because I want that sunlight straight sword. I'm quality atm with equal STR/DEX and rest in End Vit. I use my bow plenty but melee has always been the most exciting to me in souls games. Problem is I mostly like the challenge of not summoning. I know its great for getting human and soul farming but I usually try bosses solo first. I did summon some help this weekend when I was kinda sauced up just for kicks early on in the game for Pursuer.

With that said I have lots of alts as well and am in no hurry. Last night I rolled a sorc to try out using Heide/Flame sword with just enough str/dex to unlock them and then sinking rest into INT/Faith. I've heard ele weapon scaling is better then STR or Dex in this version. My quality guy is doing just fine though. Soloed Skele Lords and Chariot on him np.

I just like trying all the builds.

Well, I beat the game for the first time. Ended up really liking my Str/Faith build, even though PvP is hard. Now to decide if I want to jump right in to NG+ or do some other stuff first. Currently in the Blue Sentinels covenant, but it's gonna be a long time before I can get the reward I want...

Grats! I ended up playing my new Sorc all night. Got through Pursuer on her and farmed up the basic stat start I want. Seems fun so far.

I kind of want to make a PvP character to defend others from invasion with. I've never been interested in invading, but I guess that would let me PvP while still being a carebear.

I only really use my bow for pulling.

I might make a new character. I might just make a character on my PS3. I preordered it for PS3 and only ever got to Majula. Grabbed it on Steam the other night so I could play while watching Twitch on my other monitor.

It definitely feels more forgiving than DaS or DeS. The difficulty curve is fairly gentle. Unless of course you accidentally join that covenant in Majula. Smiley: lol

Skeleton Lords wasn't too bad solo. I have a giant club that is upgraded to +4 or something. Has a decent sweeping move that was one-shotting most of the small mobs.

Ok yah talked me into it. Did three quick Jolly Co-ops tonight on my new Sorc with mah soapstone after I beat pursuer and racked up 15k souls pretty fast. I basically was the Greater Soul Arrow Turret while the host and other summons distracted and the fights took like 30 seconds heh. Stoked that the pace was so brisk still for the summons.

On my Knight I was still just too interested in seeing new stuff. And he is the one that needs wants the sword but I can still probably camp some of the later bosses he is on if I can get myself to quit playing this Sorc.

Really digging the Sorc atm though lol.

If you help out with the Pursuer on that platform where you first encounter him, you get the full soul amount instead of half. Of course, it might be difficult to get summoned there after some level.

Umm, I think I am getting addicted to Jolly Cooperation. So much fat souls...

I hung out at Flame Tower for a bit and did Dragon boy and Mini O few times. I even payed it forward and summoned on my own runs even though I can solo both. I can see how the game would seem easy if you are rolling with this much souls so early. I'm like level 55 already and I have not even gone down to the wharf.

Also if I when I go back to complete my Knight I am inviting any Sorc DPS turret for my fights from now on. Smiley: nod

* I might have to do a pure depraved run with no summons after this easy mode run so I feel worthy again. Smiley: blush

Jolly coop is the fastest way to level grind. And a lot more fun than just grinding.

Also, for most fights, if you can find a lightning turret, they seem to be a bit more powerful.

Yea, as a Lightning spear user, I did a lot of successful Jolly Co-op. It really made the game more enjoyable for me. But I think I was a little overleveled by the end... SL 160ish before I finished NG.
