Okay so I beat the game, now what? Adventure mode on higher difficulty settings?

It does not really get hard on normal mode. It picks up significantly in Hell and when I was playing Inferno was often stupid hard by act 2.

Not sure if they adjusted it or if much of that is mitigated by much better gear drops without hours of bargain hunting on the AH.

Been too long since I played.

Now you do quests in Adventure mode for loot boxes and rift key fragments. The fragments can open normal rifts, which are really a true "dungeon crawl", and are better for loots.

The big-bad at the end of a normal rift also has a chance to drop a greater rift key, which (as the name implies) can be used to enter a greater rift (after a short wave-style encounter that calibrates the difficulty). Greater rift bosses have a better chance to drop epic loots, and you can obtain and upgrade epic jewelry-only gems.

Keep grinding until you hit 70, then you progressively increase difficulty levels until you hit Torment 6.

Cool, thanks. Any other tips? Should I be saving some things for use at a higher difficulty?

There's an entirely new tier of gear at 61, and another one at 70. There's also a new set of crafting ingredients for 61-70 gear, so there is no reason to keep any of your 1-60 gear (unless you want to salvage it for alts).

Once you hit 70, you'll replace everything you're wearing fairly quickly.

Edit: also, the gems that drop at 61+ are much better than the ones that drop previously, and it's not worth it to upgrade your previous gems to that level. Might as well just chuck 'em once you get the Marquis gems.

Not really. Use what you find if it's an upgrade for you. The only time you might want to save something is if a legendary drops at max level and it has a really cool effect on it or something. You never know, you might want to build a build around it at some point.

This is good to know. I've been upgrading my gems so I'll stop once I hit 61.

Thanks for the advice!

Got my new HC Season Crusader up to 59. I've just been playing on Hard for now. I'll probably stay there until I hit cap and get some Paragon levels. My more recent HC character losses have been from me getting greedy in the mid 50-mid 60 range and ramping up the difficulty too fast and then dying horribly. I'd like to at least hit cap on a Crusader. Smiley: lol

I've worked my way through the first 3 acts of the story, and jump between Campaign and Adventure modes. I've been having fun so far. At the very least, it'll tide me over until Destiny next week.

Hit 69 on my Crusader last night. My Prophet rune saved my life in one fight, so I had to drop the difficulty back down. I'll just wait until I'm better geared at 70 before moving up from Hard.

Finally reached Paragon 150. My highest season character still is only level 30 though.

Two drops I very much want continue to elude me. The Ring of Grandeur and the Gift of Something (gives a weapon socket) are sorely needed, but alas...

That was in the first reward chest I opened after hitting 70 on my HC Crusader. I put it in my chest until I have some set gear... no reason to risk it in the meantime.

After completing the 'free trail' quest sequence (the fallen star??), I completed it again on three other classes. Then I bought the game, then I had to do the same quest sequence again. Fifth time through I knew right where to go in that darn Cathedral.

I'd decided on the Witch Doctor to progress, but it's almost too easy with her mass slow and her dogs and the Templar that's following her around. She doesn't have to enter into the fray at all.

You can always crank up the difficulty if the game seems easy. But don't go too high or the killing speed slows down which results in less exp/hour.

Here’s how the lower difficulty levels increase the basic monster stats and exp returns:

Hard: 200% Health, 130% Damage, 75% extra gold bonus, 75% extra XP bonus
Expert: 320% Health, 189% Damage, 100% extra gold bonus, 100% extra XP bonus
Master: 512% Health, 273% Damage, 200% extra gold bonus, 200% extra XP bonus

I'd been on playing on 'hard' as I didn't know it went higher. The free trial btw will auto-default you to back to 'normal' when you log and only has options for 'normal and hard'.

I'm gonna try Expert.

Xp gain comes fast and furiously as it is. I can't keep up with gear.

Yeah, I started playing Expert once I beat the game on Normal. The XP gain has been crazy and I'm almost 70 now.

Apparently you can enchant items from another character to re-roll the main stat. I sent a 2-handed sword to my Wizard to reforge the STR to INT for my Enchantress follower, and it worked. Did the same for some rings and an amulet.

Got to Paragon 31 on my HC Crusader. I'm working on Torment I now, but it's slow goings. My survivability is about where it should be for this level, but my damage is low, so it takes a while to kill stuff. But, it seems that I'm better off taking a while on Torment than dropping down, since you get better items in the Torment levels.

Got a HC Wizard up to 50. Leveling is super fast with some Marquis Rubies in a helm and weapon. You can just crank the difficulty up for a while and level ridiculously fast.

When the game launched, you'd basically play through the entire story (Acts I - IV) three times to hit 60. Smiley: lol

Yeah it was a pretty bad grind. Especially with frequent farming runs when you hit a progression wall. This new system sounds improved.

When you have completed the storymode on one character it's also a good option to switch to adventure mode and do some bounties. With the Rift Key Fragments you get for those you can do Rifts which have a significantly higher drop chance for legendaries than the rest of the gameworld.

So I did my first few rifts but I have something like 60 keys left. I guess I'll be rifting it for the next while...

Lost my Level 70 Crusader to Belial on Torment I. Just didn't have the DPS to get him down before he turned the whole platform green.

Ah crap. Smiley: frown

Luckily leveling is fast and your stash + Paragonlevels + your crafters should make it even speedier than last time.
