So far no problems. 30FPS (if you are one of those guys) but it has the resolution support.
The whole "map is the battlefield" thing isn't as bad as I thought it'd be. The battle system is a lot like Graces, where you get point to spend on combos that regenerate over time (and other skills/triggers to gain back) rather than a "TP" pool that you use the cast things and use skills. I do like that.
It's a pretty slow start, but Tales Of games always are. Start off slow and weak in battle, and by mid to end game you are dancing circles around the enemy, chaining huge combos and doing massive damage.
The skill system looks confusing, but I'm sure it will get better once I'm used to it. A very odd equipment based skill system. Equipment adds skills, and different types combinations and types of combinations of skills unlocks other skills or stronger versions. Equipment appears to drop with a set skill plus a couple other random ones. It's like FFXIII's equipment skill system, but with the addition of equipment having someone randomized skills.
Edit: It would seem that Zestiria's story is at least loosely based on the Arthur legend. I hadn't actually read anything about Zestiria's story, so it's all pretty much new to me.
Today's update tried to remove the ability to play the Japanese opening movie with the simple renaming it.
It apparently checks the file size of the movie and won't play it if it isn't correct.
Fortunately it's pretty easy to modify. Simply adding 4 bytes of data to the end of the Japanese movie file using a HEX Editor will allow the game to play the Japanese opening again. I read that you can also use a movie editing software to swap the audio between the Japanese and English versions, giving you the Japanese audio.
I wonder how long Namco is willing to play this game? I guess they could still do an CRC or MD5 check on the file before playing it. I get that they don't have the rights to distribute the song with the game, but at what point will their liability end? If people are modifying their game to play a movie that was not meant to be, would they be liable?
And on that note, I wonder how much trouble Namco is actually in for accidentally distributing a song they didn't have the rights to to thousands of users?
I read that some people are attempting to subtitle the opening movie. It will be interesting to see how well that works with the new file size check.
