Well, it must be good, considering the fact that I didn't get much sleep because my roommate kept cursing at the game. Smiley: laugh

Anyway, anyone playing yet? I'm not yet. I want to finish my DeS->DS->DS2 playthrough before I consider starting, but it is kinda interesting to look at things for it. Overall, I'm not too keen on them taking a part of their design philosophy for DS2 - reducing passivity by making shields with no chip damage heavy and strength requiring to a larger degree - and turning it up to 11. But that's fine. I'll still play through it, though I doubt I'll replay it if I dislike that enough.

Anyway, I invite you to compare the "first" boss from Bloodborne to the "first"(post tutorial) bosses from DeS, DS and DS2. Why? Because I was watching a video of a friend's first Cleric Beast kill and felt like watching the other vids too as a comparison. The Bloodborne vid is in fact a friend of mine playing, the rest are random things I grabbed off of Youtube.

Also, if you think the Taurus Demon vid was cheese, you should have been there for my first ever kill. I just kept fireballing him and climbing halfway down the ladder when he'd jump up, forcing him to jump down for a repeat after I climbed back up.

That cleric beast fight is pretty long is the first thing that stands out. That is going to try the patience of a lot of short attention span gamers. The other thing I noticed is how fluid the animations are in Bloodborne. The way the boss moves is especially well done with all the flowy effects on the body.

When I watch the other fights I just think of how bad the people fighting are, get gud geez. Smiley: tongue You can beat phalanx so much faster if you just firebomb a hole in one side and waste him through the hole. The guy fighting the last giant does not even two hand his weapon despite the fact you should not block him. Of all the fights the Taurus demon is actually the cleanest. you are supposed to use that jump attack it's intended. Although the person does waste a lot of time before getting back to that. I'll admit I don't really bother to do it anymore since you can just burn him down if your in the zone.

I'll be buying Bloodborne I decided. But I started ******** around with my royal again in DeS instead of completing the game on my hunter. I'm doing just fine on the hunter, I'm just like that. No hurry because it's still all new to me and in my second run I am still finding neat cool stuff. Also it was rad to go right from noobing up phalanx to beating Adjudicator in 4-1 in one session and starting off with so much souls and a Darkmoon Scimitar. Smiley: nod (+ a fire spell, a heal spell, soul arrow, and a full compliment of useful rings early) Royal really is pretty BA.

Ok back on topic. Hopefully some others get Bloodborne and chime in!

Yeah, once! Smiley: laugh

I always use the lightning resin you get in the chest in town, so going back up after that first jump is kinda silly.

If you think that's painful, you should see the videos I decided not to show. Smiley: laugh

I always kill all the adds since I can never remember if they drop their loot if they just die when the boss goes down.

hmm, tempting.

I'm on the last boss in DeS on my Royal using Cresent Uchi but have not taken the plunge because I might want to farm a thing or two first. Also I rolled a STR TK and farmed up a crushing knight sword, which is pretty spiffy so far. If I buy this bundle tomorrow though it may work out just right with me feeling done with DeS for now.

Do it, but get slow shipping to give you time to wrap up DeS. Smiley: grin

Edit: Also, I think my roommate may have rage issues about this game. I'm worried we're gonna have to buy a new controller soon. Smiley: laugh

I did not realize Scholars of the first Sin just came out for DS2 as well. I can go back and play that after Bloodborne and Last of us Remastered. Welp seems like my gaming is all set for a couple months.

All I need now is to schedule a vacation from work. Smiley: nod

The Scholar patch for last gen/PC with the questline and the alternate ending came out a while back. The full version with new mobs/placements/2 addt'l phantom slots and such hit PS4/XBone today, I think.

If you just want the new quest, it's free. The next gen stuff costs, but gets you a next gen version of the game with DX11 upgrades and the ability to do 3v3 multiplayer battles.

Yeah it's barely worth it at 20$ for the upgrade but maybe by the time I get around to playing it I can get a sale for PC. The new mob placements sound neat so far from reading /r/darksouls2. Also neat stuff like visible Aurus armor available in gutter and other things.

Wrong definition. You need the WoW dictionary. Clam stacking was serious business back in 2008.

Re: Catering to Casuals again.

Okay, clearly this has caused an outrage beyond what we expected. The designers called an emergency meeting and while we discovered that it's too late to back out this poorly-conceived implementation, we are exploring a couple of options for all you non-casuals out there:

-- A clam-stacking trinket. You have to equip it like your riding crop.

-- In addition to cold-weather-flying, you can learn clam-stacking in Dalaran.

-- A long attunement that involves trips to LBRS for Horde and BRD for Alliance.

-- Tediously crafting a clam-stacking gear set that will be useful for certain encounters.

-- An Achievement reward for collecting 20,000 clams to be titled "How do you like DEM clams?"

-- A bonus for reaching Exalted with Timbermaw Hold AND Wintersaber Trainers.

-- Beating Captain Skyshatter. At level 60. With a bad ping. In the rain.

-- The clam book has a 0.02% drop rate on Dead Man's Pass or Blade's Edge ogres.

-- Collecting "Clam Scraps" from AV that you feed to the NPCs in order to summon Oystolar the Mollusc Lord in the Field of Strife.

-- Getting 100 other players to sign your clam charter.

-- Collecting 1,000,000 linen from Ragefire Chasm in order to open the Clams of Ahn'Qiraj.

-- Kind of like paid character transfers, but for clam-stacking.

-- You can respec to clam-stacking in between respecing for raids and Arenas.

-- A buggy clam-stacking mod that you will need to update after each and every patch.

-- You see, there's this clam-stacking book in Dire Maul as a rare drop. You get the book, do all sorts of crazy stuff that ends up with the book being breathed on by Mutanus the Devourer.

-- A clam book lying in plain sight in the Barrens next to Mankirk's wife.

Ahh that brings me back. Apparently aside from the free loots some of DS2 SoTF is supposed to be pretty brutal hard mode.

They added one of the Pursuers to the starting area near the two Ogres. Good luck with that.

Also Heide's Tower of Flame is full of Heide's Knights, and a Drake is guarding the Cathedral of Blue. Casuals be *******

Bloodborne came today. The PS4 won't be here until tomorrow. Smiley: frown I can drool on the disk though.

Also I can dink around in NG+ in DeS. I decided to take the plunge on my awesome TK. He is just beastly and good times.

*off topic more:

I got invaded a bunch in DeS this weekend. Which was pretty cool really. Game from 2009 and people are invading and playing and whatnot. 3 of them were straight up good bros. 3 of them were tryhard win at all cheese costs. Plague clouds everywhere, run away at a sliver of health and grass...

Sorry I beat you. Go ahead and hit your reset button despite your cheese build. Smiley: lol

PS4 came today! Zomg Bloodborne is good so far. Decided to do a skill build so I am using the Pimp Cane and pistol. Pimp Cane is an awful lot like a straight sword that is also a whip. I'm quite fond of it so far.

I just got jumped by a mob of villagers and died. I was thinking, this does not seem so hard right before that too.Smiley: blush

Apparently there's a bug going on with BB right now. If you leave the game running for 12 hours(either through play or idling), the boss AI breaks and they'll do nothing but basic melee attacks.

All I had time to do last night was roll 3 toons to try out each of the starter weapons.

Pimp Cane: Love the sword, still kinda suck with whip spacing.

Saw Blade: Very middle of the road, decent length, speed, damage.

Hunter Ax: STRONK. Mind you I did roll a violent past person to use it, but it hits much harder than the other two at only a small cost in speed. Great reach though in trick mode.

Got Cleric beast to 50% first try with ax. My only try so far, as I was falling asleep and mostly just wanted to have 1 insight so I can level up tonight. I'll probably have to play both the skill and the strength builds eventually. Ludvig's Holy sword looks neat for a balanced build though. Definitely eyeing that soon as well.

I binged on a bunch of Bloodborne Let's Play videos over the weekend. Holy moley, this game looks amazing. And a fairly interesting departure from DS/DS2 (what I've seen of DS2, that is). Enough throwbacks to make it feel like a Souls game, but not too many to make it feel like DS3.

... And it's PS4 exclusive for now, with XBone maybe getting a version later... and no plans for a PC release Smiley: frownSmiley: mad

On the plus side, after buying it during the Winter Steam Sale I finally figured out what was keeping my DS2 download from completing. I had moved everything to an external hard drive, but apparently its format wouldn't allow DS2 to download onto it. So now I have all my Steam library on my I: drive, and DS2 on my C: drive Smiley: lol Finally get to play it at least!

Did not get much chance to play last night. But decided to main Ax until I get the badges that lets me get more weapons. The 2 hand power move from ax is pretty delicious.

Killed Cleric Beast tonight using moltovs to stun and visceral along with many regular melee work. Got the Kirkwall Hammer, It's a straight sliver sword that acts as the haft for the hammer when in trick mode. So you basically get a slow stunning smashy weapon and a fast versitile stright sword with good str scaling in one weapon.

Their may be less weapons in this game but they are pretty cool so far. Explored, opened up all the sewer shortcuts farmed a bit made my Kirkwall +1 and decided to make an attempt on Father G the second boss. Got him to second phase 2 times almost beat him and got cornered and stuck by being careless.

I think I can get him tommorow night no problem when I am fresh as I got Cleric Beast first try tonight when I was fresh and not to tired yet.
Sleepy time now. Then 3 day weekend for me so should get some good time in. You like Souls Games? You will like this muchly.

Got Father G down this morning w00t! Not on first try though... Like 10-15th ish? So one thing I will say about his design. Second phase will seem cheap at first.

It's just so insanely combo aggressive. I could get him to second phase and even knowing about the music box stun one slip and he will eat your lunch no pause, no recovery.

But there is a reason for this , the game is trying to teach you something very important. Use your new abilities.

So I said to myself what I am doing wrong here. Well Music box stun is very slow, puts you not in visceral parry range, and half the time does not even work. What stuns a mob when they are in perfect range for a visceral? BLUNDERBUS! So I ran to the center island, waited for him to come around the corner to beast leap and right when he was in face. BLAM STUN VISCERAL! Nailed one more of those and he was finally dead.

Also I ended up going back to Ax for him because it was a bit better suited to fight him than hammer in phase 1. *Power up spin to win.

Discovered a shortcut in the first zone that really simplifies the run back as I was working my way to the Cleric beast. I had seen my roommate using it before, but I didn't know how to unlock it. Wasn't too hard to find, either. Also seems to be a way down into the sewers. Since I seem to recall that there's a set of armor down there, I may go grab those. Already farmed four levels. Only the one death on CB, but he destroyed me so quickly that I want a bit of an endurance/vit boost.

Edit: Also, now that you have the fight down, you should coop and help some newbs so you can farm up some insight. Something really interesting happens when you have something like 30-40 insight, apparently.
