Going by the item description it seems to only affect leveling up during rest periods, you can still get XP with it equipped. The rest of the items are nearly-game breaking: AP bonus if you get A+ in Offense/Finesse/Time battle rankings, no friendly-fire with magic casts, increased items drops, unlimited stamina, accelerated Tech bar charge but stop the Amiger bar from filling and vice-versa.

Beat the game this morning. Level 72 and 82 hours. Got all the weapons and proceeded to go through the last couple chapters to the end. I liked the story, but (no actual story spoilers, just generalizations and opinions, but may leave you expecting, and there for spoiled) it suffered from the way it was told. (Which was, not very clearly, at times). A lot of things happen suddenly, that looking back were sort of built up, but not neatly enough to make it flow well. One thing kind of makes sense given the characters and some of the stuff in Brotherhood. But it could have been handled a bit better.

I'm actually only two trophies away from getting that Platinum. I'm pretty surprised that none of the post-game stuff has trophies, except Adamantoise. But he's not even post-game. You can unlock him at Chapter 10.

Post game fun spoilers: (No story, just extra stuffs)
Turns out I missed an entire optional dungeon. As I went to unlock the post game dungeons I realized the NPC wasn't giving me them. There was a short Cavern dungeon filled with Necromancers and poison water pools that I never even knew about.

Flying the regalia was kind of fun. But landing it was as painful as the reviewers made it sound. I successfully landed twice, but third time I came down hard and even though the car was on the road it burst into flames and Game Over (First Game Over screen I received).

I think I'm going to take a break from the game and play World of Final Fantasy some more now. I'm going to leave it with my 8/10 I gave it earlier.

You can unlock that fight in Chapter 9, as soon as you get Umbra's high-five power. Are there any difficulty modes above normal? Also don't take too long of a break, as the special event will probably start Saturday night.

Ya, Chapter 9 is when I did the quest for it initially, but I restarted because I didn't get the max reward due to not having all the side quests finished. So once I gather all the people from the side quests I'll redo it.

Gotta farm up some AP if I want to unlock those 333/555/999 abilities. So far I have most everything else.

I don't think Armiger itself got more powerful for having 13 weapons, but I think the Armiger Chain hits harder the more weapons you have available. It seemed kind of random, but Noctis appears to chain through each weapon when you trigger the Chain. Unless your teammates are alive and close enough, he'll hand one each to them and let them do a strike in unison, but from what I saw Noct still finishes off the chain with a bunch of hits.

Can't say I'm looking forward to farming up to level 99 and spending an hour fighting the last trophy. Nor am I actually all that excited about trying to farm the level 99 Magitek enemy drop ships for some Magitek Suit / Suit V2 accessories.

Edit:
I will make a note that you want to turn your subtitles on in game as you progress through the final chapters. There was one point where interactions between characters and the audio around them is very poorly done, so you don't hear a dialog that was kind of important to the story. I could barely make it out (I did, but had to really focus). I kind of hope they fix those scenes in a patch so you can clearly hear what the characters are saying.

Thanks for the warning, but I always have subtitles turned on in all the games that have it. Here is the GameFaqs farming guide collection, including one for 1200-1500 AP per hour.

So do you use the standard controller map?

I beat the game with it. But apparently there is a "B" option that maps Block and Attack to L2 and R2 instead of Square and Circle. (And then summoning with L2 is like.. Square instead?) People say it's a much better button layout. And I could see why. Moving from Square to Circle with the Block/Dodge and Counterattack prompts was difficult when you were using your one thumb to do both.

I may have to try it out, train myself up on it. But I'm afraid that after 80+ hours of Square and Circle I won't take to it very easily.

I'm using "Type B" and it's great, Attack is Square, Block is L1 and Warp is Circle; but most importantly the item menu is Triangle. It almost feels like Bloodborne's quick heal system.

In an "Ultimate" guide of sorts in Japan, it's been confirmed that the in the upcoming multiplayer DLC you will be able to play as Cor, Iris, and Areana. And possibly Lunafreya if they can make it work. Probably means that the multiplayer DLC will take place in the (End game spoilers)World of Ruin area, since that is where Iris becomes a Demon Hunter. Turns out she is quite younger than the rest of the group. Only 15 during the time of the main game.. I'm expecting it's going to be pretty much multiplayer hunts. Team up with people to do quests and hunt monsters.

There is a bit of info in the English guide that is relevant to the story. I really liked FFXV's story, but they really messed up in telling it. Could have been a great game if they didn't drop that ball. You gotta go through a lot of different media releases, movies, ovas, guides, game creator notes in book interviews, and you even have to read all the loading screens between missions and chapters, to piece it all together. Even if they had just added that information is more notes, character dialog, cutscenes, etc. at the end it would have been better. And the English localization dropped the ball trying to be clever... (End Game Spoiler)and they tried to make some wordplay work in a reveal which completely ****** up a main story point at the end of the game. Made worse by them revealing it and just moving on right away never to talk of it again. No explanation, no further discussion, leaving English speakers to make the wrong conclusion based on the English translations poor choice of wording.

As for the 3 Character Episodes... I will be very disappointed if they are just (Random part spoilers, some end game)Gladio when he goes away during the Mythril hunt. Prompto when he falls off the train. And Ignis during the Leviathan ritual. Those seem like the most obvious points in the game. But I'd hope they would explore a lot more with the characters, even making them take place during the 10 years of "what the hell just happened" and just have them explain a bit of what happened before during their absences.

Being someone who hasn't yet watched all the movies and read all the lore on wiki, I'm a bit disappointed I seem to be at the end of the main story already. If this were any other Final Fantasy title, this would be maybe the 1/4 mark.

My plan was to do all the side quests later and follow the main story in a way that made more sense realistically until it was done. Well, I feel like I've hardly begun to play the game and it's already over. When I first arrived in The World of Ruin I felt like they must have been borrowing from FF6 a bit. But in FF6 that was really only the halfway point in the game's story.

I mean... whatever happened to all those other imperial bad dudes they introduced in ONE CUTSCENE? I never saw them again.

I actually almost quit playing during the part leading up to the end. Every Final Fantasy game has that one part I really ******* hate in it. This one just goes on and on and on and when it was finally over the game was like "oh cool, you're done. Get ready because once you leave the final battle will commence!" What?!

I haven't beaten the game yet. I kept getting 1-hit killed by trash mobs in the game's final area so I'm guessing I better go back and do all those side quests and power up now...

There are a lot of times where I just let all my guys die and fight bosses solo because they can't learn the boss's attack pattern and die almost instantly unless I am constantly cramming potions down their throats.

Quest NPCs often have voices that don't match how they look AT ALL.

If you are actually in Insomnia, there are many "trash" mobs that are actually skippable. The map is designed so you can sneak by a lot of the big mobs that exist in the city. I think you can skip the huge level 70-something thing at the beginning. And there is an area with 3 level 40-something nagas can you can sneak around. I think the only thing you have to beat is some very small trash and the Behemoth King thing before the castle.

Kingsglaive gives you a preview of some of the characters. But it doesn't have a big influence on understanding the story of the main game itself. At least not directly.

Brotherhood (game spoilers, not brotherhood spoilers), Prompto's story just helps give you some background on him, and hopefully would help you understand that he's not actually a Magitek Soldier, but just from Niflhiem. His father is actually the lead scientist behind the Magitek soldier program. This is only explained in some Lore in the guide book. Ignis and Gladiolus's stories are more just about them, which are not important to the story.

Ya, they were ignored.

I'm not sure I agree with that. The story itself seems pretty on par with titles like 7, 8, 9, even 10. It just suffered from the way it was told, leaving it unclear at times. The story before chapter 12 was pretty disjointed. So when 13 rolls around, you feel like it just began. But really that's just the turning point that all these games have had as you lead up to the real "big bad" and the end of the game.

Agreed, Takka should have been voiced by Forest Whittaker and Prof. Sarina should have had a younger voice.

I think her character model should have looked a bit older. I mean, it kind of did, but it wasn't well done.

She just came off as someone that should have been old enough to be the mother of the guys. She definitely treated them like little kids (in a kind way).

Also, I can't remember which NPC it was (don't think it was Dave... maybe?) but one looked like the skin on the top of his mouth was pulled really tight and the middle of his top row of teeth were always visible. It creeped my out every time I saw him. Like something from Hellraiser.

I just finished the game and all I can say is that this game is pretty much FFVII. Noctis is Cloud, Ardyn is Sephiroth, Luna is Aerith, Gladio is Barrett, Ignis is Tifa, Prompto is Yuffie, Iris is Vincent, Cid is Cid, Umbra is Cait Sith, Pain Train is Chocobo, who is driving? bear is driving!, and Knights of the Round is the final goddamn attack in this game!!!

Finished it at level 95 which made the final chapter so easy to complete, barely had to heal. Also lol at my collection of Gentiana sighting photos running through the credits.

I got the game on Xbox One and didn't like how blurry the graphics looked. The way the story was told is the part that I agree with. All this stuff was going on but the only time I felt emotionally impacted was when the friends are camping before the Final area. I liked the action combat for Noctis but don't really like how automated and dumb the AI is. I really would have liked a gambit feature here, so I could at least give the AI some direction. The main thing I didn't like about the combat was how there were at less variety of spells and ally skills and I prefer being able to switch to different party members for more tactical control. In my opinion, I think the combat would have been better served to be just Noctis, however I personally expect allies in their Final Fantasies.

I have pretty much never liked sidequest in open worlds because they tend to move towards the fetch quest variety. I didn't like them in XIV and I don't like them here. I would have liked to see more main story arc in the game and less sidequest rather than have to get the rest of the story in a movie or anime. XIV could have benefited from some loyalty missions or active time events to flesh out characters in the world.

The world design was beautiful though somewhat on rails with the car driving and flying, invisible walls, and little two inch things you couldn't jump over. For endgame I liked the hidden dungeons but just wish there was some story implemented into chasing the shinies. The armiger quest are just walk here, get cutscene. I think of quests like DAO temple of sacred ashes trials would have been nice.

I liked the game overall but for me it is a 7.5. One point docked for story, half a point docked for the on rails stuff, and a point for the over abundance of sidequest, lack of AI manipulation, and a shrinking of variety of magic spell or weaponskills. I would probably dock more points for the latter but that would imply I hated the game. I enjoyed the game, it was fun, I liked the game. I just didn't love it and it didn't move to the list of FF I fell in love with.

Here is to hoping that if the action/open world becomes a thing from now on. The depth and huge main story typically associated with FF returns in the next entry.

Apparently the carnival is active, you need to download the 1.04 patch first, then access it from the Main Menu. Also all of the pre-order DLC is supposed to be available for sale starting at midnight.
