I suggest not getting the salt lick unless you know what you're getting into. I love that kind of beer but it's not for everyone, if you can imagine the smell of wet twigs and branches cut off a tree, that sort of sour woody smell is exactly what the beer tastes like.

Keep in mind that when the console version launched, it was the better version. People were pissed that the PC version was essentially a beta test for the console version.

That's a testament to how broken the PC was in vanilla.

It's too distracting. Much more fun to watch that than work.

We had that two blocks away a month or so ago. Hope it works out better for you than it did for us.

Well that looks like it was... um exciting?

Yeah that's a good word. I'm suddenly glad I'm at the other end of the courtyard. Smiley: lol

Aww, my parents' dog died this Monday. They came by today for lunch and told me. I'm a mess right now, because I really loved that dog.

He got some kind of internal injury in one of his hind legs a while back, and we knew it was just a matter of time. None of us wanted him to go through operations and stuff, since he was near the end of his breed's lifespan, anyway. My parents came home Monday and found him unable to stand on the leg, which meant he couldn't do his business, either. Called the vet over and had him put down (the dog, not the vet).

I wish I'd had a chance to say goodbye, but it's probably a good thing I wasn't there, because I might have gotten cold feet. Damn it. The dog was one in a million. Abnormally large for his race, abnormally energetic (only Berner Sennen I've seen bounce), and abnormally happy. He was a bit of a coward, due to some episodes before my parents acquired him, but he was the happiest damn dog I've ever met.

It's odd, because pet deaths always make me more sad than human deaths. Not sure why. Smiley: frown

Media desensitization. Humans are killed in droves for any and all reasons, and it's reported so often that it doesn't really mean anything anymore unless the person is really close to you. However, when a pet is killed or dies it's done in a way, or reported, to elicit an extreme emotional response. Take I Am Legend with Will Smith. Smith character dies at the end after protecting his discovery on how to cure the diseased people, nothing. His dog dies, Niagara @#%^in' Falls. Also Old Yeller vs Leonardo DiCaprio and everyone else in Titanic.

My condolences. Losing a pet you've been with for years, if not decades, is as painful as losing a family member.

Could be that it's because I've only ever buried old people. People who lived long and, in their way, full lives.

With pets, it always seems too soon and too sudden. Wait, is that a redundancy? Too soon and too sudden? Essentially the same meaning, right? Whatever. Too... abrupt.

Thank you for the condolences. I'm drinking "gravøl" in his memory. It's a modern interpretation on the old "funeral/inheritance feast" that followed funerals back in the days. The heir of the deceased would hold a feast to celebrate him (yes, it's back when men > women) taking over the money. Lots of beer was served. These days gravøl consists mostly of coffee and beer at a reception. I prefer the beer, because funerals should be a celebration of a person's life, not a mourning of their death. In my opinion.

I know that. But, to be brunt, no one should compliment crap for being slightly less crappy than it was before. The changes I see in 2.0 sound good. And there's a reason everyone is talking about D3 like it's a whole new game.

Thing is, the absolute groundwork of loot 2.0 is what is required for the game to exist without a AH feature, purely because of their limitations around building.

Those limitations were always something I disliked about D3; they were a significant departure from the build freedom of previous games.

In those games, the loot system matched the build system, because the loot system provided you with items you could use, always, because you could CHOOSE to be speccing that way.

Whether or not that system was better isn't really my point. Maybe people like having classes linked to item types and stats. That's fine. But the loot system needs to match it.

Loot 2.0 does that, and that's why it's great. Loot 2.0 gets the fact that there is nothing fun about looting an awesome axe as a Demon Hunter when your weapon is 5 levels behind and white quality.

This console crap doesn't.

And that makes this remain a bad game to me. You can't have a loot-centric dungeon delving game with a loot system at odds with the progression system. That just doesn't make sense. It's really, really bad design.

I'm so torn right now about whether or not I want to keep playing. I really don't want to have wasted the cash. But if I continue to have such bad luck with drops, getting upgrades isn't even going to be fun.

I mean, getting an upgrade should be a "YAY" moment, not a ************* FINALLY" one.

Are you still playing a version back at the point when they expected you trade stuff on the auction house?

Because that's the only way I ever remember upgrading anything way back when... Smiley: lol

Edit: I mean I hope not and all, because that would suck at this point. Smiley: frown

Believe me, I was not complementing it.

And really, you're preaching to the choir. You're not saying anything that hasn't been said to death a year or in some cases two ago.

So wait, just because I'm curious (and wouldn't mind hitting 10k before I have to leave for the weekend) how did we end up with the PS3 version and not the computery version again?

I know, I just thought they fixed this particular issue, and it was a big part in me thinking the game might not be crap now. And the fact that Blizz hasn't even announced an intention to bring loot 2.0 to the PS3 is pissing me off.

And I ended up with the PS3 version because, for whatever reason, my PC really didn't like D3. I can play more intensive games just fine, so I don't know why, but I was too lazy to figure it out.

That really is a pity. It wasn't so bad with the AH, at least at the point you're likely at. There was a ton of people playing at the time, and many things were at least remotely useful for someone, so you'd just throw it up and use the money to buy something you cared about. It wasn't that bad unless you were going after some time of magic find or gold find kind of thing, plenty of stuff worthwhile for having fun on your first couple of passes through the game. Seriously, start leveling multiple classes and pass gear back and forth. D3 has/had a way of giving you the right loot for the wrong character.

And Maz, is Gravøl literally death/grave beer? And there's a Danish brewery making a beer with that name (you can look it on ratebeer)
