Train simulators are weird. They have a very dedicated following that end up spending a LOT on stuff like this, and this is usually the only game they really play.

It's not about a good gaming experience with these kinds of things. It's about having as detailed a simulation as possible.

Nothing about "camping in Mexico" sounds like a good idea. Nothing.

I've always wanted to build a train simulator model train set in real life. I've never had the room though.

Grave beer, yes.

Cool, I like that tradition already. Also, are your parents/you getting a new dog or haven't thought about it yet?

Parents aren't getting a new dog. They're looking to trade to a smaller car and buy an apartment instead of the house. They were going to do that six years ago, but then they stumbled upon the puppy and couldn't resist.

And I'll likely not get pets for some time. Might get a kitty once I move to a bigger place, but I'd rather have a dog. Not in a hurry, though.

I'd like a cat, but I couldn't handle one given my current housing and work situation. Maybe some year.

Happy Birthday, Aeth! I'll make my way to the OOT thread, eventually. And I've been wanting a temperature control kettle for a while now, just been too cheap to get one, so kudos on that.

I'm just hoping they brought the cider roommate, so if they're getting chased by a Cartel, they all know which one they trip.

Yay, I got a legendary chest piece I can use! Oh, no Dex... It has magic find though...

Smiley: glare

Do I go for the higher damage or the magic find. I just can't decide...

Magic find is great if you're killing things fast, if you're struggling to kill stuff it'll just drag you down.

Good to know, thanks. Smiley: grin I'll use the Legendary then!

The rapid fire skill just rips through packs of mobs right now, since I'm still on the normal difficulty. Might as well live it up while I have the chance. I'll carry the higher dex one with me, too, just in case.

Killed Azmodan, got a legendary crossbow... which was worse than my crafted one.

Smiley: glare

It was a slight upgrade for my off hand, at least.

[EDIT]

Well this twist isn't surprising in the least.

[EDIT2]

Jennifer Hale... you're better than this. I think you can leave Leah's little girl inflections behind...

[EDIT3]

A realm full of angelic warriors, and they think it's a good idea to just send their strongest into a 1v1? What is this, Bleach?

Oh shut up, Azmodan is by far the worst part of the story. Act 4 is pretty short anyway.

No way, Adria is easily the worst part of the story. Her involvement was so forced in the first place (YOUR MOM IS ALIVE AND IN THE SEWERS!), which is particularly problematic when she's the crux of the plot development from that point onward.

Azmodan was just sort of... there. He didn't really matter, and he certainly could have been edited out of the story (I mean, the whole "siege" story line could have had no big bad attached to it and been about the same quality), but that's the worst that can be said. Which certainly isn't good, but it's better than LOL SHE WAS ACTUALLY BAD.

Oh comon, the whole of act 3 is Azmodan shouting how he's so smart and awesome and a tactical genius while the best "tactics" he can offer are throwing more random minions at things. It's beyond retarded.

I WOULD defeat Diablo... and get no upgrades. I did get a belt that has magic find on it (but no dex), that is otherwise about equal.

But yeah. He dropped TWO crossbows, and neither are an upgrade.

What the hell?

As for story stuff...

I have to admit. I rolled my eyes at that ending. Hard.

Tyrael being the human embodiment of wisdom I like, but the angels and humans being all buddy-buddy, and evil being vanquished forever, and all that?

I mean, c'mon now, I'm playing Diablo, not some C-list JRPG. What the hell is this? WotLK had a more bittersweet and horror-esque ending than this.

Act 3 was boring, I completely grant you that. It just wasn't broken from a plot perspective. It was stupid and useless, but it was just an act of padding to stretch the plot. I expect way more than that from a big budget game, but it wasn't insulting writing.

Being bored and being actively annoyed at the storytelling are both problematic because they alienate you from the story, but when you're aggressively aware of a plot mechanic when it's in the early stages of implementation, that's particularly experience-breaking. When that plot device is the actual crux of the story, it's REALLY problematic.

I found the D3 ending pretty anticlimactic. Granted, I hadn't played through the game, so I had very little emotions tied to the Leah character, but still.

Hopefully, the expansion won't see Tyrael dying. If he dies, I will lose interest in the franchise very quickly.

Trust me, playing through the game doesn't give you any emotional attachment to Leah at all.

My biggest problem with act 3 is that you can't skip or ignore the story, that big stupid head keeps talking to you all the bloody time every time you run through the game.
