Hey Kao, can my title be changed to "Catwho Destroyer of Keyboards?"
I've hammered to death two keyboards in the last week. I've got a replacement in the mail, but I have a feeling it won't go beyond the 6-8 months that these two keyboards each lasted. (I broke the little lifter thing off the second keyboard, so it's currently being propped up with a small bottle of sunscreen that was a nice wedge shape.)
So I'm looking for something a bit more durable. I've heard good things about mechanical keyboards, but I really don't know anything about them.
I type fast 60-80 WPM with higher spikes if I'm in "the zone" and I hammer the keys really hard because I learned to type on an ancient IBM keyboard. I don't need an ergo keyboard (although I have been very fond of the Microsoft Curve 2000s, which I am unfortunately in the habit of breaking) but I do need a standard layout with function keys, a number pad, and a minimal amount of extra keys along the sides and edges because I am a true touch typist and that really screws me up.
Suggestions?
