I've been helping/leading raids for my guild and I don't like using push to talk buttons on my keyboard, it throws off what I'm doing. Does anyone know of a push-to-talk foot pedal out there that I could use? Is there anything out there like that?

You want something like this: http://www.fentek-ind.com/FootPedal.htm#afs3usb

There are cheaper variants, and ones with fewer pedals, but keep in mind your feet exert more force on things than your hands, so you want to get something well made that will stand up to dirt. To put it in perspective, cheap flight simulator rudder pedals never last very long . A cheaper 1 button options is this one:

That thing basically works with software you can bind various keyboard commands and macros to do whatever you program it to do. The more spendy ones usually have better software and can do more things. You can also use them as a shift key to enable secondary functions on a mouse or a g15 style keyboard too in some cases, which comes in handy once you get used to it.

Edit: if you have wierd prehensile toes like I do, the other cheap option is get a second USB mouse with fully programmable buttons, (microsoft intellimouse or the like), put tape over the mouse sensor, then chuck it on the floor somewhere. You could even program all the buttons to trigger push to talk, then you just step on it. I find that works best with the mouse backwards and the toes on the front, or with a really flat mouse like one of those microsoft arcmouse thingies.

Thanks Kao that first one I awesome and I would love to have it, but it's definatly outside my price range. The second one looks like exactly what I'm looking for. The usb mouse is brilliant idea and I do have an extra usb mouse lying around that I will give it a try with. Thanks again.

You're welcome!

I use the floor mouse trick occasionally when i'm doing a virus clean and have a third computer up on the KVM. the trickiest part is the tendancy for the mouse to move around. , which if you have the seonsor taped over doesn't really interfere with things, but can make it difficult to find. If you have carpet, you can put a bunch of the stiffer side of stick on velcro on the bottom of the mouse, and use the carpet as the other side of the velcro. if you have hardwood floors, you can stick on some ruber nonskid pads. A dedicated pedal usually works better, but the mouse idea is cheap!

Glue and a board are pretty cheap too.
