Thoughts on the specs of this laptop...Follow

I enjoy my RoG Asus laptop, but it is starting to get old (3 years now). Has some hang ups with games on high setting. I'll still be using it as my Media PC (because I do not want to reburn or DL music for itunes), but I'm thinking of getting a new PC/Laptop. I could build one, I could, I'd just rather not. The only issue I have about a PC is space. Odd thing to say imo, but a tower + a screen, my desk has like no room. Thus my idea of leaning towards another laptop.
So here are the specs:

Quote:
Intel® Core™ i7-4702HQ Quad Core Processor with Hyper Threading 2.2GHz / 3.2GHz (Base/Turbo)

Mobile Intel® PCHM 8 series chipset, HM87

8GB onboard memory (DDR3L-1600MHz)

NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 870M (3GB GDDR5 VRAM, Optimus™ Technology)

14.0" QHD+ 16:9 Ratio, 3200x1800, with LED backlight, capacitive multi-touch

128GB / 256GB / 512GB SSD (SATA M.2) ***the 3 SSD sizes, I'd want the 512, thus bold.

Multi-point touchscreen interface ***Says it has a touch screen. Not sure what more then push here and there it could do. If I could get a stylus and "paint/draw" via software I own, major plus, as I have wanted a touch screen to be able to digitally paint (not a fan of tablet, just feels weird).

3.5mm microphone/headphone combo port

USB 3.0 port x3 (SuperSpeed))

HDMI 1.4a audio and video output

Intel® Wireless-AC 7260HMW (802.11a/b/g/n/ac + Bluetooth® 4.0)

Width: 13.6” / 345mm
Depth: 9.3" / 235mm
Height: 0.70"/ 17.9mm
Weight: 4.47lbs / 2.03kg
It is not very big.

Windows® 8.1 (64-Bit) ***My current laptop has Windows 7, I've never used 8. So not sure how I feel about 8.

Brand? It is one of "them" ones. So I'd rather not say (yet). I want thoughts on the specs, not who's name is attached.

Initial impressions without doing a lot of comparisons:

14" is too small for my tastes, but if you're essentially treating it as a desktop, you could just get a bigger sized monitor and output to that.

I'm going to assume that grabbing the 512GB SSD is going to significantly increase the price. You could consider dropping down to the 256GB SSD and then setting up some network storage at home. Sure, you'll have to pick and choose what stays on the laptop itself (more game installation management), but depending on your storage needs, it may be more cost effective.

Everything else looks alright to me, but I'm not on top of things as much as I used to be. I wouldn't be buying it over building a desktop due to money reasons, but if it's not straining your bank account and the physical space savings are worth the price disparity, go for it.

That's about top end for laptop specifications shor tof a Quadro video card. You would also want to bump the ram up since you do have all that horsepower, but that's easy enough to do later. Windows 8 sucks and you will hate it, but it is possible to load windows 7 on a windows 8 laptop if you disable secure boot in bios.

BTW it is the new Razer Blade.
ATM it is pre-order and there is no option to upgrade RAM.

The other I was looking at is basically what I have, just newer.

I'm basically making an investment to my entertainment. Unless I get rid (I should) of stuff to open space on my desk, it is why I'm looking at high end laptops again.
