When the question was first asked so many years ago I didn't have the answer and now I bring it up again.

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop? Would someone please answer?

Does anyone here actually LICK a lollipop all the way through? I usually suck on them for a while. :P

And do you have to count all the extra licking required to get the candy out from in between the Tootsie crevasses?

If it wasnt for the fact that i like you Pikko i would recommend lead based paint :P

But for my pitch to get in Bush administration i will say the following:

"These are troubled times, a world where pikko has to worry about nukeyooler radiation is a world i wouldnt want to live in. To be terrorized by terrorists is un-american. We must take the Nukeyooler radiation to these evil men who do evil things and tell them dont mess with texas.

These dangerous men pose a threat to our great nation they have weapons of mass destruction... i mean there leader was a dictator and was suppressing them.

And remember God loves you, and GW Bush loves you. And you can count on both of them as a powerful message that people who wonder about their future can hear
God Bless America"

How was that i hope i didnt misarticulate myself.

Something else which is safe to lick:

Dead plague infested cats.

Ask Kiatrix...I never did understand the logic behind this.

Oh, and it's three licks for the tootsie pop...according to the owl that is.

Are we talking about the "Tootsie Roll" in my pocket or a plain old piece of candy on a stick? Because the one in my pocket lasts about 3 licks...

3 according to TV.
It took me 107 when I was a kid.
Of course you could do with the old standby.
1,2,3,4,5, HAMMER, there's the center.

I think Lil Kim had a song in which she asked 'How many licks'...but I have a feeling it was about something else.

Actually, this has been solved quite a while ago. It was written in a book called "Do Fish Drink Water?" by Bill Mclain. Apparently, a bunch of college students tested this and found that it greatly differs. It can take anywhere from 75 to 200 licks, the average being 142 licks. The experiment had several rules, such as, no puting the entire pop in your mouth. They all had the same flavor as control.

I can't believe someone actually took the time to find this out scientifically. I think this is one of those questions that go into the "WHO CARES" category. I don't even thing I have even had a toostie roll pop or whatever they are called. Probably because once I see a stupid commercial, I usually avoid the product. Of course now, I have just showed how bored I am. I have also, wasted 2 minutes just to type a message about how little I care about such a question. Man, I can't wait to get off work! Smiley: grin
