I think it would be nice if Peter Jackson worked his magic on "The Last Unicorn" the way he did "Lord of The Rings." Does anybody remeber the old Rankin\ Bass animated movie? Even though it is a cartoon, it has REALLY good lines! While we are on the subject, is there any truth to the rumors that they are considering making a "The Hobbit?" I'm not sure that would work ...

Hobbit was already made a long time ago by Rankin/Bass... the Lord of the RIngs and Two Towers was merged into a crappy cartoon version in my opinion... with Return of the King back as Rankin Bass. Personaly I LOVE the animated hobbit... was the reason I read the book when I was a kid, but the other LoTR was hard to understand. At least I reread them in High school and understood them =D

yeah ... Ralph Bacci was the one who made the crappy version of Lord of The Rings and The Two Towers merged into one (it was actually cool .. before Peter Jackson's movie blew it out of the water, of course) The Rankin\ Bass version of "The Hobbit" is very nice (I have a copy.) Rankin \ Bass also did a version of "Return of The King" (Which is decent) My question was, does anyone thing it would be cool if PETER JACKSON (Maker of the live action Lord of The Rings Trilogy) would make a LIVE ACTION version of "The Last Unicorn?" Also, rumor has it a LIVE ACTION version of "The Hobbit" is in sight (I don't think this would be a good idea though ...)

oooh I understand now XD

That would be cool =) the book was awesome for that one too

maybe they will if they hear enuff about it...

Course Peter Jackson just rocks ^^; I even like his lowbrow ones =D

Well I'd go see the Last Unicorn if they redid it hehe

i think they are remaking the hobbit with real people. i dont think peter jackson is directing it though, so it will prolly suck

The last Unicorn is sitting on my table as a Dvd

Still one of my favourite movies of all time ;)

This is great! I had no idea so many people remembered the last unicorn- it is my favorite book. The characters (and lines) are amazing, very real but you get the feeling they know they are in a book. I have to express doubts about a live version, tho- I just don't think you could get the unicorn right.

Yeah, it's difficult to take a horse and put a horn on it's head. Today's technology needs to advance a few steps before that can happen. ;)

Just putting a horn on a horse's head doesn't always cut it :) She would have to speak, and if you have read the book, you know she isn't really supposed to look like a horse at all. R/L animals to me are hard to humanize/create characters around. I have is memory of being little and going to the Ringling Brother's circus, where they were supposed to have a unicorn (being little, i was excited). It turned out to be a goat with one horn:( I was quite crushed. I just think a real horse would disappoint. (or a goat, for that matter;)

There is the tiny fact that The Last Unicorn is mindbogglingly banal and mundane.

Now, if he made "Ariel the book of fantasy" into a movie, that'd be something!

If he makes the whole Robert Jordan rhino **** epic into movies I'll kill him myself.

Imagine the Sillmarillion as a T.V. series.

or maybe a series of movies.

If not that, the Tale of the Children of Hurin would make a great Dark FAntasy.

Actually you could do the whole thing in about an hour if you filtered out the pointless filler dialouge that adds nothing to the plot or does anything but make the books longer.

... nah .. I have to disagree with you on this one. With the computer graphics we have now, I am SURE they could make an increadible Unicorn (Only the humans have to be real after all ...)

Much as I love The Wheel of Time, wouldn't it be a little too much like LoTR? If you wanted to SHOCK me, suggest making a "Chronicles of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever." (Steven R. Donaldson) Now THAT is a series NO ONE would ever make!
#20 Aug 02 2004 at 11:47 AM Rating: Decent
omg! Thomas Covenant would be awesome XD

Poor guy... just when you think things cant get anyworse for him... they do XD

God I had a D&D campaign with Urviles in it once... "Omg they're wedging!"
