Anyone else ever get em? I find that if im playing a first person shooter i get massive headaches. Headaches so bad that if i even look at a videogame for the next couple days im in agony.

I also just took a stab at EQ for the free 30 day trial and got massive head pains within 10 minutes of playing and had to give up.

This kinda sucks because i cant play FPS games Goldeneye, Halo, Unreal, Doom etc all give me headaches, also some other games with 3-d graphics and odd cameras like EQ, Enter the Matrix, Max Payne etc.

Ya happens to me too as well.

Any game that has a rotating or movable camera or view seems to give it to me after a while.

FFXI does after a little while (hours) but when i really get them is with Tribes Aerial Assault, if i play it for any long period of time I will get a dull headache that pretty much knocks me on my butt.

For what it's worth, you can use the F9 key to pan different camera angles in EQ and play in a 3rd player perspective.

Doesn't help the root of your problem, but there ya go.

I figured out how to change camera in EQ but still didnt work for me, its for the best though a game like that would get me hooked and my girlfriend would kill me.

I would guess that they are eye-strain headaches. I get these all the time, seeing as I spend 8 hours a day staring at a computer.

Take frequent breaks from the screen, that's about the best prevention method I know of. Just look away, focus on something else, take a walk, take a nap, something. Otherwise, keep a large bottle of Advil around and tough it out.

Headaches suck.

FPS give me motion sickness by how the camera moves and the speed it moves at. So I usually have to take a break from them from time to time. As for your headaches run down a list of things that you do when you play. If your sitting to close try playing a little further back like the other poster stated eye strains can cause headaches.

Get your eyes checked. Seriously, if you need glasses and aren't wearing them it'll cause big headaches.

Try increasing the refresh rate on your monitor. If it's less than 68, the flicker will not be noticeable but will cause headaches as your eyes will still be able to see it.

Might also be a sign of minor epilepsy. Had an ex who couldn't watch FPS games, or anything with flashy lights because of it.

Regardless, if you got medical insurance, get a CT scan.

I can't watch Half Life for very long, and that sucks because I like blowing people away with a Guass Gun. So I guess I will stick with MMORPG types.

Probably right, in most cases.

I've found another great help for eye fatigue (I'm a sufferer, too.) If your monitor is sitting on top of something that raises it such that you are looking at it level or have to stare up at it....take it down. Put your monitor low enough that you are actually looking downwards a bit at the screen. It cuts down on eye fatigue significantly.

I spend about 90% of my free time in front of a computer or playing video games. I never get headaches. My advice, take an advil and continue.

I had this problem with some games when I was running an old video card or playing GTA3 and GTA Vice City on the PS2. Mostly it was because my eyes would try and focus and since some of the games don't do very well on the PS2, I would have to stop. Bought the games for PC and with my video card, everything cleared up and my eyes didn't try and focus. Halo, had the same problem. Which was one of the reasons I didn't buy an XBox. So, I picked it up for the PC and haven't had a problem with it.
