How did I become a "Scholar"? I always thought it was for people who paid for the site or a limited number of posts but I have neither? Please answer, thank you!

Scholar status is achieved when you get a rating of 3.01 or higher. Once you are a scholar you can rate others up or down.
It has nothing to do with being a premium member or how many posts you have.

Also, if you ever want to become a "sage", here's a tip:
Dont let your post count get too high, early on.
Just post useful, non-inflamatory, helpful posts, but do so infrequently.
The more posts you have, the slighter the overall effect is on your average when you get rated up.
If I knew then what I know, I wouldnt have been such a prolific poster.
