Im in high school and the gay classes i picked require summer reading while we are supposed to be enjoying our summer by playing 16 hours of FFXI each day. Anyone else having school related problems that refrain you from playing your beloved FFXI character?

Try the Lord of the Rings books. Good books but it takes some time to fully understand everything. Dont forget The Hobbit either.

Meh I never did it. I just got some quick notes on the good old internet when I was in High School. However my lazyness increased even more so and I never went to college. =P Well at least I got a decent paying job..... I'd read the books if I was you.

List the books you were supposed to read and I'll tell you what you were supposed to learn from them.

To make a long story short, I don't take any responsibility for anything I post here. It's not news, it's not truth, it's not serious. It's parody. It's satire. It's bitter. It's angsty. Your mother's a *****. You like to jack off dogs. That's right, you heard me. You like to grab that dog by the bone and rub it like a ski pole. Your dad? Gay. Your priest? Straight. **** off and let me post. It's not true, it's all in good fun. Now go away.

No, read them. They shouldn't take you more than a few days to read them if you just sit down and do it. Don't cheat yourself by having someone else do it. I know, they are probably going to be some of the dumbest books in existence. Some of them, I am still trying to figure out why they feel they are so important. Kind of like that overly wordy SOB, Shakespear. The only good use for his stuff, is fuel for a fire. Just suck it up, and finish them. If you read like me, it will only take you a day and a half of pain and misery.

As for the Lord of the Rings, that is one of the few good books any instructor has ever asked me to read for a grade. Don't just watch the movies, as there were some stuff they missed. Although, read the Fellowship of the Ring and then watch the movie. They are great companions as you work yourself through the series.

bleh. I LOVE to read and will read almost anything, but I still remeber those books from highschool and could never get into them. I remember reading the Great Gatsby and the Fisherman (blanking on the actual name but it's supposed to be this great book and yet I could never get into it)

Like someone mentioned above can you list the books you have to read? Id love to see if I know any of them and maybe we can help you pick a decent book out.

BTW 300 pages should take you 3 days if you try really hard. Try getting through 100 a day and then reward yourself with playing games after. :D

On a side note; As I said I LOVE reading, and read almost anything, but I can see how reading the books schools sometimes pick out can turn someone off reading. The worst feeling is reading something you can not get into. It drags and makes your love for books wither. I know somethings need to be learned through the books the schools pick but sometimes I wish kids could pick their own books and actually learn to love reading (comic books dont count as much though lol)

Deadsidedemon has a good point. Throw out the list and I will be happy to help point out a good book from the list. Personally, I don't know why they don't add Eiji Yoshikawa's Musashi and Taiko to those lists. Those are classics!
