Yeah, I could never get into playing the Silent Hill series. Of course, it was like the Resident Evil series. I always got killed by the first zombie over and over again. The controls were a nightmare. Tomb Raider had the same problem. I ended up using Code Breaker to get through the Resident Evil series. Its not the game play, its the story that makes the game.
That's one of the reasons why RE and the first Silent Hill never appealed to me. Those RC Racer style controls made no sense and were cumbersome. Fortunately, Silent Hill 2-4 allows you to switch to 2D control where you pull the controller in the direction you want to walk. I agree tho, Silent Hill is more fun to watch than to play. Someone should play though all of them and tape it. They could make a few buch selling it.
If you hate the RC controls of Resident Evil, you might want to check out Resident Evil Outbreak. Its online, and has the control scheme mentioned in the above paragraph.
I've played the Grand Theft Auto games since the 1st one came out in 1998 on the PSOne. My ex-girlfriend turned me on to 3, and I was impressed. Got Vice City also, but some of those missions got frustrating and difficult. I've never beaten any of those games. I don't plan on getting San Andreas.
FPS got old and stale with Doom if you ask me.
The only antiquated genre I like to play is 2D fighters. Guilty Gear, Street Fighter, and any SNK fighter is fun.
