why did nickalodean (sorry if i spelled it wrong) cancel invader zim? i loved that show so much
#2 Aug 25 2004 at 10:15 PM Rating: Decent
Invader Zim was cancelled 2 years ago, probably because the series had a more dark humor then what most cartoons on Nick had, they probably cancelled the show because little 9 years old werent old enough to appreciate or understand the humor.

But anyways you can buy the first season on DVD and the 2nd AND finale season is coming out soon, believe me, buy the series, its hilarious to watch.

That show was awesome, it has this type of humor that most people never understood.

It did have very dark humor. I read some things about it, it was the most censored Nick show of all time. Here's a link to everything you ever wanted to know about Zim, and some stuff you'd rather not know:

OKay... I personally love Zim... but it is a dark angry cartoon, more for adults then children.

The creator of Zim is also known for JTHM... Johnny the Homocidal Maniac. But I still love it =) Too bad he didnt contract with like the cartoon network or something, we could revel in the Invader Zim on Adult Swim or something o.O

The show was cancelled partially because of the humor, but also because Jhonen Vasquez, the guy who wrote/drew it, began to hate the character. He personally started to find it offensive that he was getting recognition for what he felt was one of his "lesser" works. There's an interview with him about it on the web with someone from Carnagie Mellon U. where he discusses the whole thing. He's a moody guy.

He really hated the characters.

Remember the episode "Bestest Friends?" Turns out the ending was a little different. Keef was supposed to explode after chasing the squirrel on the power line. Censors didn't allow it.

How about the episode "Bad, Bad Rubber Piggy?" Dib gets the exoskeleton thing. Dib was supposed to die in that episode. Nick didn't like the idea of a main character dieing.(Dib was always such a hateable character, but I always hoped he would succeed.)

That episode "Game Slave 2?" Iggins was also suposed to die in it. Jhonen tried several times in later episodes.

Eventually, it seems, Zim would have no one to rule.

Sucks that it was canceled. Do you any of you know if you can buy it on DVD? I started watching it because JTHM and Squee! were one of my favorite comic books. I recomend you guys read that along with Lenore the cute little dead girl.

A better question, LotusKnight, is why a semi-completely socialized and housebroken 36 year old living in his parent's basement like yourself still watching Nickelodeon? I don't have an answer for that.

Speaking of Nick. Anyone heard anything about them putting Elderado and the Seven Cities of Gold on DVD? Its a pretty old cartoon series that I used to watch when I was around 9 or 10. So, that means about 20 years ago. I have been hoping they would put it back out, because I don't remember ever seeing the ending. It almost had an anime feel to it. It's one of those great old ones like Robotech, Battle of the Planets, and Star Blazers.

Now JTHM was a little too over the top for me.

I liked Invader Zim humor very much, but Nickelodeon is definitely not the place to show it.

Amen.

Cartoon Network is much better.

Except for Spongebob.
