Can we please get some new and different smilies?

The ones we have are all well and good, but those of us whose writing skills can never hope to approach the sagacity, eloquence and pithiness of some of the other esteemed members of these boards really need that extra touch that only the perfect smiley can grant our otherwise humdrum posts.

Smiley: cookie <-- my meager bribe.

sagacity, eloquence and pithiness

Oooh, pretty words.

I did learn a new word today though (I had actually never come across this word before)...

onei·ric
Pronunciation: O-'nI-rik
Function: adjective
Etymology: Greek oneiros dream; akin to Armenian anurj dream
: of or relating to dreams : DREAMY
- onei·ri·cal·ly /-ri-k(&-)lE/ adverb

Your mother's a *****. You like to jack off dogs. That's right, you heard me. You like to grab that dog by the bone and rub it like a ski pole. Your dad? Gay. Your priest? Straight. **** off and let me post. It's not true, it's all in good fun. Now go away.

apropos

Ou, a propos, en francais s'il vous preferez.

That French is most likely incorrect, but it let me know what the word meant. Usually pretty good with Latin and French-origin words, Greek gets me every time.

No the french is about the same. Propos means "matter" so au propos "to the matter". Proponre is the closest latin root, I think. But doesn't really translate directly. French is where we got it from.

will pass the request along. we don't want to add too many more because the forum has to process all the [:smilycodethingy:] commands for each post. the more there are, the more potential site slowness exists.

Disable them in the ffxi forums. Problem solved!

Maybe if that was the slightest bit witty or relevant to the topic it would be funny.

I was searching for potential smileys, and I found this page.

I vote that we convert all current smileys into Tim Curry facial expressions.

Just a minor misspelling on the infinitive. It's:

propono, proponere (short "e"), posui, positus

meaning "to put forth, set forth, lay out, place before, expose to view, display."

Ah, the joys of lingua Latinae...and a copy of Lewis' Latin Dictionary.

If you ever respond to one of my posts again I will make it my mission in life to follow you arround the FFxi and belittle you constatnly. In fact, I'll start playing FFxi as well, just to have a frame of refrence.

Just a heads up.

look! yanari can read!!!

thats exactly what i'm saying, the richer guy has the better campaign, so the richer your parents were the more chance you have of getting into office, thats one of the many things wrong with democracy.

i waited for a reply, really i did

Dracoid, I had left (as had everyone) the Sexy Stories thread because the discussion was over. You tossed in one last post. Hey, cheers, ya got the last word in!

Regarding the political campaigning conversation, here are some of the responses your comments received:

I wish he would revert back to his old posting style rather than his current one where everything is bullsh*t.

I didn't include most of Nobby's slams as I don't know if, when he argues with you here, it's all a show for our amusement or if he really disagrees with you.

This may be hard for you to believe, but if an individual is being attacked by numerous people, I generally prefer not to fan the flames by adding my own voice to the cacaphony.

Also, your contention that polititians shouldn't campaign was and is so ludicrous and clearly not based in reality it isn't worth arguing.

The pompous and trashy comment of Pulse's is directed at me, but you can adopt it if you like! Pulse likes me even more than you do! Smiley: grin

And thank you for the espresso machine links.
