So your work wants you to say "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas." So...? I just don't understand why that would hurt your delicate sensibilities. My work asks me to do tons of stuff I don't want to do. But they write my paycheck, so I do it.

I'm not a Christian, either. But a business telling it's employee what to do is a very VERY far cry from the government telling everyone what to say.

So you don't agree with those who are frustrated with it. But it's still their right to be frustrated by it. Can't we for once, leave it at that, rather than it spiraling into some 5-page long thread about whether or not it's morally and ethically correct, and whether it's constitutional or Gbaji sucks Bush's ****, etc...

I never said it wasn't their right, I said I didn't understand it. How long this thread goes matters not to me, it's an interesting thing to debate. If you are not interested in reading a five page thread on the topic, please do us all a favor and skip the thread and, heaven forbid, keep yourself from posting in it.

Of course not. That would be funny.

I wouldn’t cave under the pressure from the NAACP or any other pompous, politically correct, ****** if that was my display. @#%^ them and hopefully some **** would come under the cover of night to try and deface my property.

I'd really give them something to write about.

So can we have them attack Valentines Day next? In honor of the people that are Asexual? Or perhaps because it causes little kids to become gay, since at least when I was growing up, you would buy a box of valentine cards big enough to send to your entire class...which means boys sending boys cards...thats pretty gay. Ban that holiday.

On the topic though, this is the dumbest thing I've heard today (I just woke up, so give it time). I totally agree that this country is way to sensitive about this crap.

I dont even know what more to say about this, I may post more rhetoric later when I've had a chance to wake up.

I have half a mind to repeat the very incident in the OP here, just to see if it garners the same level of attention.

Like I said in my OP, I have a hangman's noose set up in my yard. I have never, ever heard one complaint about it. In fact, my brother and I have received many compliments on how great a job we do setting everything up year after year.
A local newspaper took pictures last year and printed them in the best Halloween display contest (we lost).

I'll tell you this, if anyone ever said they were offended by one of my holiday displays, I would tell them to go **** themselves. No way in hell would I take it down. If your offended, don't look or grow thicker skin.

Micromanagement= pissed off people when your only getting paid minimum wage. There are far more important things they can be worrying about than the fact that when i say goodbye to a customer if I'm using their PC greeting or not.

like you know. working and such.

I understand that. People complain about their jobs all the time.

I don't understand the people who complain about the Wal-Mart greeters being asked to say Happy Holidays when it's not even their job.

No wonder we're having problems.

I'm talking about the people who actually have to do it, not the people who complain about the fact that other people have to do it.

Cause I'm most definitely in the first group.

Last night, the Maines family said they would be replacing their Halloween display and erecting a sign reading: "Thanks to the assistance of Millie Hazlewood and her friends, Halloween and Christmas decorations will no longer be celebrated here."

I know someone is going to ***** about my stance on this, so here is a preemptive "Eat me".

The noose was original used to hunt and fish and later turned into a form of Capital Punishment, which of course, inevitably found its way to a specific group of people. No, not black people but poor people. Peasants.

Granted, later on in times it became a symbol of racism to African Americans but lets face it, Imus is the Devil, Nancy Regan doesn't even know we have colored people in the Country and Halloween is evil.

Since no one else bit...

I hope you're being sarcastic. If not, this is possibly the most retarded thing I've every read.

Halloween isn't evil.

I feel that I'm being religiously persecuted if I'm not allowed to celebrate Halloween in the way I see fit. :P

Even though I could care less either way...

The earliest known origin of Halloween is from an ancient Pagan society where they had a festival to end the harvest season. They believe the day also allowed for the dead to rise and zombie up the place, therefore they'd perform a few pagan rituals to keep them at bay.

So, seeing as how most people saying Halloween is evil have a rather Christian stance on the matter.. to them it technically is evil, as it's based on false god origins Smiley: schooled
