Not the TV show, but what does a hero consist of to you?

I understand drugs are bad, mkay, but I can only imagine the things they were seeing at Ground Zero.

Edit for an interesting quote:

Carnegie Hero Fund Foundation wrote:
"Whether that person had a shady background, or had been incarcerated or was a child abuser ... none of that information is important to us," Chambers said. "We don't care. All we care about is the act. Did that rescuer risk his or her life to an extraordinary degree?"

A hero is someone who has done anything for the greater good of the public, private life is just that private.

Honestly, the word 'Hero' has a ton of meanings, from personal saint, to martyr, to someone who dose good stuff with little to no thought of their own gain, and a bunch of other meanings.

Me? I'm a big fan of Foamy the Squirrel.
Any Firefighter, officer of the law, and other emergency personell (like EMT) are good heros too.

Its all realitive to the beholder. A hero on one side of a war is a demon to the other.

Honestly, the word 'Hero' means *************** these days. When you have news stories on some dudes Dog that barked when he saw a fire and woke the owner there "by saving the day", the word looses all meaning for me.

Someone says hero, I think of Spider-man, Batman and the like.
