Actually I had to look it up. It wasn't like the Painted Turtles I remember catching as a kid in the local pond.
Ok, I spotted the turtle in the large puddle as I went through it. Making sure I didn't hit it I went about my business.
On the way back I didn't see him in the puddle so I did my best to skirt the edge of the puddle. When I exited the
puddle I stopped the car and got out. I spotted the turtle just under the water. I was afraid that I might have hit him.
Looking around I found a long stick and using it I poked him and he moved. Using the stick I slowly guided him to the
edge of the puddle and I scooped him up . He was rather large and by the moss on his shell a few years old. All he
did was hide in his shell. His shell was about as large as a Nerf football. I carried him to the car and getting in I held
him with my one hand and drove down the road till I reached the land bridge by the large water tank. (Texas's idea of
a pond man made). Stopping the car I got out and put him in the pond and he swam off.
