Right well as I've not seen many statuses on facebook, or any threads here about this I'll assume people aren't aware.

October 2012 is Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Everyone likes boobies, right? Well good, now ladies, get to know yours! If you think you know them, chances are you're right, but you can never be too sure!

So, get in front of your mirror or partner (or friends) and have a bloody good feel. Check for any changes or if you feel something odd.

Here's some more information and stuff: http://www.breastcancercare.org.uk/breast-cancer-information/breast-awareness

http://feelyourboobies.com/

The first is a link to an NHS website full of breastcancer information. The second is an initiative in the US, to me it looks similar to the "Movember" movement which aims to raise money for Testicular and Prostate cancer research. I digress, that's next month!

I just saw a thread on reddit how PornHub is going to donate 1 cent for every 30 views of a video in their small tits or big tits category over the month of October. Although the Komen foundation rejected the offer so they're looking for a new charity.

We have the right to save them ta-tas. Men with manboobs and without should check as well.
And it is a shame when an origination rejects money for their fund because the money was linked back to ****.

Breast cancer gets the most funding out of all the cancers already. That's because ******* are awesome. No one wants to save the balls.

Wow really? I mean I would understand if the donations came from someone that supported genocide or puppy kicking, but to reject a donation just because it's from a **** site?

Apparently the Komen foundation are kind of ***** anyway and they only donate a small % of their funds to research, most of it goes towards paying themselves and advertising themselves and breastcancer.

And suing other charities that use the phrase "...for the cure" or the color pink.

Not the North American incarnation, as far as I know. Movember is slightly different. It started in Australia, in something like 2004, iirc.

Rather than not shaving at all, the goal is to grow a moustache for the month of November, to raise funds and awareness for male related cancer research.

That's another thread, though. Smiley: grin

Meh, nuanced reality is nuanced, but definitely not research driven.

To put it in perspective:

Quote:
Komen reports spending a total of $685 million for research in the past 30 years, a considerable sum in private cancer philanthropy, and its money goes to a wide variety of initiatives.

Considering we got a $100 million gift from Nike folks a couple of years back for cancer, and they just gave us $125 million for this year for heart disease, $685 million over 30 years isn't that much. Nice chunk of change sure, but compared to how much money usually gets thrown around in health care research, it's not an amazing about.

They sure know how to hype themselves though.

In my opinion, this campaign is stupid, unfunny and kind of offensive.

Like an inverse trifecta, I guess.

I check the ladyfriend for breast cancer as often as possible Smiley: wink

Seriously though, always checking for breast cancer. I lost a close friend to it a year ago, so it's a real thing to me.

I'm already growing out my beard so I can rock the moustache from the get-go.

The article Protein linked above actually suggests that self checking doesn't help detect breast cancer any earlier and that doctors are advised to not even teach the technique anymore (I'm assuming because it can give a false sense of security).

Illegal manoeuvre I'm afraid! First rule of Movember is you must start on the first completely clean shaven. It's a pain in the **** because I wear a full beard all year round usually. Cold face ftl.

Even boobies of unsightly women should be saved.

Today on my hour and a half commute home a woman at a road side park decided to flash the highway motorists. While not very attractive or young, it was an interesting surprise.

A gaming girlfriend is dying of breast cancer right now. I played Warhammer with her. She played a bright wizard named Tinkerhell. Two years ago she was diagnosed, for the second time, with breast cancer. The War community was incredibly supportive. Mythic even created a pink dye vendor in-game in support of the Pink for Tink campaign.

I really thought she'd beat it. Smiley: frown
