Rift Soul Tree Calculator is brokenFollow

#1 Feb 09 2012 at 12:32 AM Rating: Decent
At approximately 5 pm EST Wednesday, Feb 8, the Rift Soul Tree Calculator site stopped working properly. Links that I had saved in favorites did not produce the page that they should have. Selecting Rogue from Soul Builder correctly took me to a blank soul tree but clicking on the spot which displays rogue souls instead omitted some rogue souls and, in their place, added warrior or cleric souls, creating a list as follows:
Bard
Beastmaster (warrior)
Cabalist (cleric)
Justicar (cleric)
Nightblade
Paragon (warrior)
Riftblade (warrior)
Sentinel (cleric)
Shaman (cleric)

There has been much discussion about this problem in the game tonight.

I don't know where else to report this and have seen no mention of it on the site so I am reporting it here.

Trion doesn't track versions in their data so, unfortunately, we have no way (without keeping a worst-case-scenario set of 4 db tables per day three days a week over the life of the game, with invented versions,) making all the STC links work. PVP souls were removed from game this week, so that's why some things are broken. I apologize for the trouble and am trying to find a good way to make it be a little more graceful (as opposed to completely broken,) for those links. Sorry and thanks for your patience!

Also, if you could link me a broken build, that would help a lot.

Thanks. Working on a stop-gap for now (being 4:10 my time and sleep-deprivation Is not helping,) and will hopefully make things behave better in the next 12 hours.

Edit to respond to edit: prolly the stop-gap measures. Ugly for sure, but they stop things being quite so broken.

Just a quick update on this: It seems like the stop gap is working for now on most builds, but we're going to continue tweaking it to make sure all builds are working correctly.

Hey, not really a linked build issue but I can't go further than the first tier of any tree on the calculator. It just keeps the second tiers darkened and won't let you progress as the points are spent.

Changes:

Older builds will display an warning in the STC saying they're from an older version and may not display right.

URLs will now include .-# at the end where # is our current soul builder version (an auto-incremented number for length; it will go up when any big enough change invalidates older builds).

buildlist now includes a field to only show builds made on the current version (since I just finished adding all this, may not be 100% accurate for builds made the last couple of days -- sorry; I tried to get this done quickly).

uh... hrm... that's what I can think of off the top of my head.

browser? IE < 7 unsupported. If FF/Chrome, make sure you're not blocking scripts (zam.com, zamimg.com)

Yeah I've got chrome. I don't think I've blocked anything as it has worked just fine before and I haven't made any changes on the browser, though I haven't been looking at the calculator past couple of months. It seems to work properly as I'm able to put points in on all of the first tier abilities on all three souls, all the tooltips show and the golden arrow rises to indicate the opening of the second tier, but the abilities itself stay blocked or as if not enough points have been put to progress. Not a major concern on my part though I just thought of reporting it if it's a bug or something.

mkay. Please let me know OS/chrome version. Some beta versions now and again get pissy and don't work. If it's a live version, I'll need to look into it. Thanks!
