Fix your ad, please.Follow

#1 Mar 02 2013 at 4:21 PM Rating: Good
I would love to put a subject on this post, but I can't see what I'm typing even now. Your new HoN ad is not only incredibly annoying, as the odds that I may accidently click it and be taken somwehre that I have absolutely NO desire to go are quite high, but it is also cutting off a lot of the forum. Particularly the top part. Where you can read ****. Please fix this. I realize I am not a paying customer any longer, but this is so not ok.

Here's a picture of what this post looks like as I type. Seriously. Not cool.

I used shift+tab to add a title. Hopefully it worked...

I'd love to edit this post to put in my specs, but alas, the ad blocks the edit link. I forgot to mention that I'm using the Zam.com skin and FireFox 19.0.

i'll put a ticket in to get it fixed. Firefox 19 seems to be breaking many things though.

It does seem a bit odd that Zam has LoLKing, and is also advertising Heroes of Newerth, but maybe that's just me.

Mine isn't as bad as Belkiras', but it's also causing issues for me. It resizes after the page loads...it's quite annoying.

Much better, thank you!!

And the problem is back. Ads obscuring the whole top part of the area asking me to "return to Telara March 21-25" in Rift Storm Legion.

FireFox. Zam skin. Look at the pic in the OP to see the problem, it's the same thing, different ad.

ETA: I know it is verboten to speak of it, but using ad block makes the top portion of my post readable. I will be doing that until this is fixed, sorry.

And a new ad is now affecting the readability of the forums. And when it's adblocked, when I try to access the posts that it otherwise would block, I am redirected.

This is really not ok, guys....

I'm not experiencing the same issues in FF or Chrome. Is your FF up to date?

Which skin are you using? Cause I don't see that either. Didn't originally as well, but...

Hmm. Still don't see it.

Turned off adblock and allowed all scripts for the zam.com and allakhazam.com and the full page ads appear but they don't block anything dealing with creating/editing posts. And when I do enable adblock, the full page add is gone, and there is no clickable link left in it's place. I can click anywhere and it's like the ad doesn't exist.

Does it do it with all your browsers, or just that one firefox install?

Edit:

No, that is not an adblocked ad, it's just an ad that timed out while loading (they do that sometimes).

FireFox is all I use. I have no idea how out of date my IE is, I haven't fired it up in a looong time.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v631/Belkira/Zam_zpsc670adb8.png

In that pic, my cursor is in the white space under my name. Not the post area, but the blank space. See the long address on the information bar at the bottom? My cursor is shaped like a hand and if I click, it takes me to wherever that ad redirects. Incredibly annoying.

That long address is the address of the full page ad. What blocking plugin/version are you using?

This is what mine looks like with everything re-enabled.

Nothing is clickable.

I'm using the AdBlock feature in FireFox. I know the address is for the ad, I just meant to show that I can click on it from a blank area with no ad in sight. I forgot that print screen wouldn't show the cursor.

Oh, I understood what you meant, that even with the ad "blocked" it was still really there just a big blank white place instead of the image of the ad.

I use Adblock Plus 2.2.3 addon with Firefox and don't seem to have the same issues as you.

I downloaded it, and it's gone! Thanks, Tirith! I guess I'll have to use this, since I'm not sure if or when they will get the ad fixed.

ETA: I lied. I thought it was gone, but it's not. Maybe I don't know how to use AdBlock. lol

Hmm. I've never had to configure it, other than allowing sites through the drop down menu. Maybe your other adblocking is interfering, since I've never used the one built in with Firefox. There's probably a way to restore the adblock list to default and start fresh.?

Fast Solution:
Reinstall Firefox to get rid of any settings that may be ******** up these features/plugins.

Oddly enough, with the new StarCraft ad, when I disable all ads on Zam.com I can now edit, follow, or whatever the first post in a thread, but when adblock is enabled, it becomes invisible and moves everything up a line or two, so when I click on these buttons, it takes me to the ad. That's interesting...

It's not worth it to reinstall Firefox. I've wasted enough time on it. I'll just deal with it, and if it becomes a problem again, I'll browse on my phone. **** it.

Have you tried another site skin? The tor.zam.com doesn't seem to have the massive ad on there.

Shutterstock charges $19 for 1 image. What did you pay for the picture of that girl?

I'd assume, $29.99 for 12 months. Though I'm not sure what other services she provided him beyond the picture.
