Hi, I came from Cube World Forum. It was recently taken down by you guys which really sucks because I have been a part of that community since the very near the start of it over 2 years ago, before you guys took over. I know you probably don't think it is worth the cost for keeping it up but can you find it in your hearts to give it back to the admins of the site who managed it even before you became involved?

Doubt anyone will read this post from ZAM though, but it was worth a shot.

They will read it - they might even respond to it. That's what this forum is for.

I'll relay this to the management group. No promises, but someone will take a look at it. It will largely depend on traffic and throughput. There's also the chance they end up just making a sub forum here for it, which isn't ideal but it can work.

The Cube World sites really put us in a funky spot last week. With the slow development process that Wollay and Co. take, interest in the game has almost completely died. Those of us who have played it (including management), ignored the low traffic numbers and were willing to push the site for at least a few more months just in case Wollay delivered.. Unfortunately, the software/database that the forums ran on straight up broke to the point where we were forced to take the servers offline.

Now, the decision to keep them offline was the toughest part, but we had good reasons:
1. An update for the forum's software was unavailable (last update was ~1 year ago)
2. Fixing the forums would require a load of dev time that we wouldn't be able to justify on paper (Given current traffic trends, could you imagine shifting devs from huge LolKing features to fixing CWF?)
3. We have our own forums in the works and they're almost done. If it wasn't for this, we'd probably slide a few dev hours here and there to work on it but, at that rate, our forums would be done long before we fix CWF's anyways.

Regarding the idea of giving the database to someone else.. This is something we simply can't do. The data dump would store virtually everything anyone put into site, including emails and password hashes and whatnot.

Take it from someone that loves the crap out of Cube World, shutting down the site was practically our only choice.

CW is about as close to vaporware as it gets. I'm surprised anyone is spending time maintaining a forum.

Oh, okay - well thank you for the reply (although I personally trust each admin with any and all of my site data).

CWF was mostly people coming to the site to post about Cube World, and then realising how great the forum is, staying, and then forgetting that Cube World even existed. Cube World is a game with massive potential, but Wollay never really jumped on it :(.
