Althrun,
As the father of a few, the grandfather of a few and very, very happy to share the responsibility in their upbringing, I find the situation to be sad. From an emotional level. I would have granted the "right" to bring the child into being. Saying that, if I had the money/time/desire/patience and understanding to spend time with *her, so that I could be close to the child, I would do so.
If it was intolerable to be anywhere in the vicinity of the woman, I would ask the court for the right to supervised visits controlled by another family member I could get along with, or by a court appointed nurse. If that was turned down, then I would wait until the child was out of infancy, and sue for partial custody.
To me, and nay-sayers be damned, involvement in a childs life is second to no other pleasure. (Until they become teenagers)
I did read the thread. I did see the "Oh I am smart, but don't get the point" comments and the "I think I'm smart let me come play comments." Those aside, emotional hang ups are what determines someone's "feelings" about a particular issue, to include the assignation of morality to the issue. Understandable human flaw.
Yes I'm new. To The Asylum anyway. Very interesting reading.
