Especially when they're Bloody Marys. V8 and horseradish FTW. Not to mention vodka!

I'm not drinking! I'm fighting off scurvy! Smiley: schooled

Someday you'll deviate away from screwdrivers into the land of feeler gauges and fish tapes.

That's when **** will get real.

I wound up watching about 15,000 hours of IRT: Deadliest Roads yesterday, having started because I saw they were in the Andes and thought Flea might be interested. I felt worse when I realized that every episode is essentially the same thing but, hey, it works for House as well.

At one point, some truckers were broken down out in the Peruvian pampas scrublands and facing a frigid night on the side of the road while they waited for a truck that "may not be able to find them in the vast emptiness" (protip: try looking along the road). I turned to Flea and asked if the History Channel cameraman was allowed to toss them a sandwich and a book of matches or if this was like wildlife documentaries and had to just watch the truckers freeze/starve to death.

It'd be infinitely more interesting to watch if they documented the truckers freezing and/or starving to death like when a wolf is kicked out of their pack.

I kind of like IRT, but it's better when they're actually ON ice roads, not donkey paths in Peru. Although some of the ways they got their trucks stuck on the paths were kind of amusing.

I remember about 6 months ago watching some show about "extreme" wilderness survival or somesuch thing while at a cousins house for some family thingie. The premise was that the main characters were like super explorers or something, willing and able to go into the harshest locations that no normal people could ever go. I just remember that at one point the characters were struggling to climb up some escarpment that was blocking their path (cause they weren't on a path, see, cause they're like super explorers or something!). And they're grunting and groaning and talking about how treacherous this terrain is and how difficult it is to cross. And the whole time I'm thinking "Ok. But the camera crew is handling it just fine while shooting your stupid ***. Doesn't that kinda make you the least skilled person in the group just climbing along with your little backpack?".

They actually hired Super man to work the camera, so it's totally legit griping.

I'll give Mike Rowe props for regularly crediting his crew for having to squeeze into spots or stand in terrible things, etc so they can film Mike doing the same.

And I'll add that my tastes line up with the Democrats. Shows I watch regularly are Parks & Rec, Community, 30 Rock, The Office and Always Sunny. I occasionally enjoy Jon Stewart, Conan, Adult Swim. The only Republican show I like is Top Gear. (Except I only watch the British version...I wonder if Republicans hate that?)

I've never seen a pubbie in an Aston Martin. Then again I've never seen anyone in an Aston Marton outside of television, so the sample size is... how you say... limited.
