I'm pretty much the same.

I have the same job, but in the Winter of 2008 I took a 10% pay cut (everyone in the shop did, all levels). Since then I got 4% of that back, but I have not got any raises, or any bonuses. In 2007 and 2008 I got decent bonuses (mostly because they knew I had done a LOT of overtime helping them with large installs when I was salary). But not having those bonuses kind of hurts. I do wish they'd give me a bone or two. I'm still doing a ton of work, just for a lot less.

But, the pay is still good enough for me to have some extra spending cash. I just bought a new TV today, and have been spending a lot of time/money on my house remodeling.

Slightly better off here. I'm making about fifteen percent more a year than was in 2008, in a different job in a completely different field. My debt level has a dropped a good bit since then as well. I'm not particularly thrilled with my current job, but the job market around here is even worse than than the national average, so while I don't find my work to be at all fulfilling, I'm going to be sticking with it for awhile. It pays the bills and leaves me with a bit of disposable income, so I suppose I'm better of than some.

I said slightly worse because my stocks haven't fully recovered. Job is the same, slightly less vacation time and slightly increased cost of health coverage. Meh.

I've graduated from university and my internship at the time has turned into a full time job, so I'm better.

I voted much better off. I lost my job in November 2008 (largely my own fault). I wasn't doing much better before that. I now have a job that pays significantly more although nowhere near Mr. Moneybags, buying a new car at tax time which I'll be putting half down on up front, and I quit smoking August 15 2011. There are quite a few things I need to do to feel better about my current position, but I like where I am at this time.

Also, even though I said so in the past, I am done with FFXI and haven't played since April. Nothing in the game piques my interest any longer, not even fake nostalgia.

I went from an average of 45 hours a week in 5 days with 6 managers in my department & over the last 6 months have worked an average of 60+ hours a week in 5-6 days with currently only two managers in my department.

They have strung me along with regards to compensation (a bonus, comp days, a raise, a promotion, etc.) for 3 months & with the one other manager leaving in two weeks for maternity leave...

I gave my notice on Friday. My last day is 12/23 & then I have about a month worth of vacation/holiday pay to use towards finding a job.

I guess I'm worse off but hoping things will get better?

I'm about the same. On one hand, I work less hours at work, which is bad, but on the other hand, I've been promoted twice. They kind of cancel each other out. If the housing market ever actually recovers, I'll be doing much better.

More painful now than in 2008?

Is it pleasurable pain?

Can you assign a dollar value to it?

I do have say that I'm glad that our retirement accounts are back on better footing as well. Now that the hubby has gotten placed in the federal civil service job-wise, his retirement accounts are going to skyrocket with TSP and him working towards a pension plan. When he retires after 25 years, between his military pension check, his federal job pension check, and our other retirement accounts, hopefully our annual retirement income will be in the high 5 figures. I just hope that inflation doesn't outpace us.

I am still employed at a job I enjoy most days. My leg hurts more, and I have developed pain the the right arm tendon. Elne and I are going on 12 years, an old girl friend has renewed our friendship. Except for today Elne has avoided the ER, (she seems to be OK Now so don't be too worried folks). Money is tight, the roof leaks, and the cats love us for their food and our warm bodies to lie against.
The Steelers and Ravens are still winning teams, and there is always next year for the Orioles.

We don't speak of 3M or their gawdawful patentry in this place.

******* ratbirds. Joe Flacco is the flakiest quarterback in the league but for whatever reason, maybe Ray Lewis's murderous spirit flows into Flacco during the week against the Steelers and all of a sudden he plays like Aaron Rodgers against the Vikings.

Barring my deep deep hatred for the Ravens. I chose much better off. I'm in the lucky place called North Dakota which has seen huge economic growth over the last few years. Yes the Bakken oil fields have definitely helped on the western side of the state(strippers in Williston ND are making more a night than strippers in high dollar clubs in Vegas, just a little fyi), but here in Fargo the growth has been amazing. The company I work for has undergone huge growth and considering it started as one guy offering small network setups/maintenance and computer repair on the side and we're now an up and coming IT firm in the region, it's been pretty damn awesome. The biggest thing my boss now complains about is how he has to handle the growth the company is going through.

Moving from Tennessee, she'd have to relocate into the volcano for it to be a lateral move.
