They stop listening to the fans and critics who beg for 'new' and give them FF6, 7, 10, with new character names and clothes every other year...

That's the LAST thing that I want. That's on the same level as charging for DLC on the debut of a game. I want new content, not just the same game in a different color. With that, I accept the fact that I may not like some games as others. Personally, FF8 and FF10 are my favorites. I would rather play 9 over 7. 7 is good, but is overly hyped. Overall, I like that latter games are different games.

I also like the "-2" series of games, that allows us to continue a story. I just haven't seen it played out well.

It was tongue-in-cheek. A stab at the people who demand new and then cry when ever a non-standard game is released.

Sometimes I don't get them. I mean, how much would it cost to develop a FF7 HD overhaul? I'm sure it wouldn't cost quite as much as developing the next FF game, and it would be all but guaranteed to sell ridiculously well. It's not something that I'm necessarily interested in, but it seems like it's such a no-brainer moneymaker.

There's plenty of articles and interviews floating around that indicate that no, remaking FF7 actually would cost astronomically more than making whatever the next modern FF is and that it would also yield nothing but financial ruin for the company.

Ya, I'd imagine that the storyline of a game is a minimal development cost. Even developing the idea of the battle and control system can't be that high a cost
when compared to the actually graphics design and programming onto a new platform.

I remember reading about Chrono Resurrection

My bad...

I thought you were out there.. I mean, EA players have no problem with buying the same game every year..

Yahtzee did a great review of FIFA '13

Better than the gaming magazines who have the new FIFA plastered all over the mag once a year, spewing 4+ pages on how the game is pretty much the exact same as it was last ******* year.

If they are going to drastically change the gameplay, I would prefer they release it under a new name. When something changes radically from the version you fell in love with, it annoys the fanbase, like the 2 newest ratchet and clank games (started as a single person platformer, last 2 release are 4 person platformer and a tower defense game).

I keep fearing that they will drastically alter single player Dragon Quest games to make it "fresh and modern". I play DQ for old-fashioned playstyle and I want to kill everybody who says the next game should be more like the Elder Scrolls or whatever.

I'll say, considering the last half dozen Final Fantasy games.

Haven't played the tower defense game, haven't found it. As for adding multiplayer to the game, not seeing how its so horrible. You can still play alone, don't bother with playing as Quark or Nafarious if you feel it ruins it for you. Having friends over to play it with me and my girl is a lot of fun for us. Easy game, stupid mistakes and a bit of a challenge have made for fun times.

Understand it's not your cup of tea but it didn't ruin it. You want to play as Rachet and get things done, go right ahead. You want to have fun with friends, off line or on, you have that too.

It's going to be utter hilarity seeing FFXIV go against ESO this year. Oh man!

That depends for me. I'm more concerned of the story line, but the game can't be too far off. I loved X-2's game-play, but it was so cheesy. At the same time, I don't want to play the same game with a different story. It should at least be some minor changes in game play like in XIII-2.

I feel a little nauseous, but I agree with... Alma... I like FF9 more than FF7. :(

I am also lamenting the lack of 2 player LOCAL games. It seems every single game that comes out these days is a "multi-player experience." My husband and I have scoured the PlayStation store many a weekend looking for a decent game that we both are interested in that we can sit side-by-side and play together.

I mean, it's a little expensive to buy another PS3, another TV, and 2 copies of the same game just so we can waste a weekend getting drunk and playing video games together. :(

I rarely play console games, but Little Big Planet and Resident Evil 5 are both fun as co-op.

My husband dislikes the Little Big Planet games (though I enjoy them) and he wasn't a fan of RE4 (might have been because it was on the Wii). I'll have to revisit Resident Evil. Thanks.

We do enjoy some Fat Princess at times, though.

WiiU has been pretty decent as far as co-op is concerned.

Have you guys tried Dead Nation? Might be the best co-op title on the PSN.

I too like FF9 more than FF7, but I'm not sure if that would necessarily be the case if 9 had come first. I think I enjoyed it so much because of 7 and 8, with their more serious, futuristic settings. 9 was a return to what I missed. If it had been the first PS FF game, I am sure I would have still liked it, but it wouldn't have had that added bonus of nostalgia.

Anytime. Let me know if it fits the bill. I might have some other suggestions if I rack my brain a bit.

Can't you just play something on the PC/laptop that is multiplayer? I assume you both have computers. Or do you want the split screen experience?

We'd like to be able to sit side by side on the comfortable couch playing together, old school-like. And on the computer, you have to buy 2 copies of the games in order to play anything online these days.

And his laptop... well, it's slow and I don't want to say it sucks, but it sucks.

Here you go: http://www.co-optimus.com/system/2/playstation-3.html

And you can filter on the right side for split-screen, couch co-op, etc.

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light was also supposed to be a strong co-op title. I only played it solo (and found it quite enjoyable), so I can't speak to its multiplayer, but I'd imagine that it'd be worth a look.

Don't forget old school games, if you still have the systems. 64, Gamecube and Dreamcast are great multi-player systems.

We haven't had those really old systems for a long time, but we sold our XBox and our Wii when we moved and only kept the PS3 because it had a blu-ray player.

I took a vow to never sell any video games. I did it once or twice when I was 10 and realized that I was better off just keeping them rather than selling them. Of course, you could sell to a person and get more money, but since then, I had a collection that I didn't want to lose.
